Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus |OT| Life Returns to Vita

2+2=5

The Amiga Brotherhood
I'm guessing he meant "popular" as in more well-known in which case although Misaka is that...SAO is more known nowadays I guess.
Yes that's what i meant...

There is no way Kirito is much more popular than biribiri, really. You should check out the popularity ranking more.

Before you ask, yes, I am talking about Japanese ranking.

Misaka Mikoto is one of the best characters ever, so I'm not sure what's wrong with the vita cover.

Also nu hebijyou are better than the other school <3

... but since it's a Japanese cover i guess that biribiri/Misaka/whateveryoucallher (i had to google search to understand who you were referring to lol) is on the same level, or superior, as Kirito.

Worldwide i think that Kirito is more known than Misaka though... we'll see if/when it will be localized.

Speaking of Dengenki Bunko Fighting Climax, hey...xseed... *hint hint*
I'd be amazed if they somehow convinced Sega (or any company, for that matter) to bring that game over with the possible licensing issues (Namco technically has the SAO rights).

I'll see about adding my name to the list. I'll most likely play offline/single player & in the rare chance I go online, I like to limit my friend list to people I'm familiar with (I almost never accept random friend requests unless I know who it is).

Well she is a much better ninja than he is.

well yes but it's just dull...you do 3-4 hits and he gets stuck headfirst in the ground where he has invincibility until he breaks out. He never even touched me and the whole fight was 3 hits...wait several seconds...and repeat. His health gauge is also huge which makes it even more tedious so I just spammed ninja arts.

Canonically correct, but not a fight I wanted for them to implement...

So...weird thing ya? Turns out I bought this game twice. How do you ask?

Well, turns out I pre-ordered this thing in May when it was announced at Gamestop.com and forgot about it. Having totally forgot this I ordered from Amazon but then cancelled that order when I found out Amazon wasn't shipping orders until the 16th.

Then yesterday saw people on here were getting confirmed shipping dates for the 14th at Gamestop. So I ordered it aaaaand then when I went to the order page later to confirm that the order went through I see that I already ordered it and forgot about it. Site didn't let me cancel the order either so looks like I'm stuck with two copies?

Either way, pretty excited for this tomorrow! Now i just have to hope that Gamestop's return policy is easy enough to deal with.

Sorry for asking a million questions in this thread today, I'm just trying to decide whether I should go pick it up.

What kind of structure does this game have? The videos I've seen have only been fighting scenes. Is it dialog, fighting arena, repeat, or is there any sort of level design/exploration involved?

the former. You start in a hub, choose missions, dialogue, fight stuff, dialogue, back to hub.

Man I'd totally import dengeki if I got word that it was actually a good fighter (which I have no idea if it is or not)

Basically, there's a central hub where you can talk with your fellow shinobi students, change clothes, play the panty lottery (yes, that's a thing), buy stuff, etc. When you're ready to continue the story, you exit the hub and a list of available missions pops up, with both optional character-specific missions and required story-advancing missions unlocking as the game progresses.

You select the mission you want from the list, and after story scenes that consist either of character dialogue or literal novel sections (as in, paragraphs of pure text laid on top of still images), you're sent to a specific stage and tasked with defeating either one of your classmates or one of the rival shinobi girls. And there are usually waves of "genin" (lower-class ninja) or other enemies that you need to cut through before you'll even see your actual opponent.

There's not really much in the way of exploration -- the stages mostly are self-contained 3D setpieces designed to spice up the combat with usable terrain and obstacles and such.

Once a fight is concluded, there are more story scenes (again, either of the character dialogue variety or literal novel sections), then additional missions are unlocked and you're returned to the ninja room hub.

In 21 hours, this game will be mine. I can't believe it.
My wife keeps insisting that we go to the midnight release, but the store is in a mall so I think we'll have to be in before security locks the doors. We could end up waiting around for 3 hours. Sigh, first world problems.

My order went back to preorder from shipping soon. Dunno what's up with Amazon recently not giving me RDD on games. Literally the only reason why I got prime in the first place

Same, but I might as well keep it since I'm paying for this game purely using Amazon Credit I got for a book I sold them awhile back. Even if on the 16th I'm still pretty excited cause of that Shinobi Syllabus. This is like my 3rd game I've bought through Amazon though and they have never really hit that release day delivery before even with Prime.

Contact them. That happened to me this morning and it said it was shipping Thursday. The guy gave me 10% back and an hour or two later my order changed bakc to RDD.

How long does it take for Amazon to refund your money? I found the game at another GameStop earlier today. Heading over there now.*

*To preorder :/

I was able to speak with XSeed about the game, and I think the interview has some fun facts in there. I really enjoyed Burst, so it was fun to see how the two compared, especially considering the localization staff felt better of their work on Shinovi Versus. I've included a couple bits of the interview below.

What makes the Senran Kagura series a perfect fit for XSEED Games?

Ken Berry, Executive VP, XSEED Games: I wouldn’t quite call it a “perfect fit” since we were very hesitant to touch the series at first, for obvious reasons, but now that we’re part of the worldwide Marvelous umbrella of companies rather than just licensing titles from an unrelated Japanese IP holder, we have to make an extra effort to bring over as many Marvelous titles as possible.

After seeing the continuing success of the series in Japan, our intention was to release the original SENRAN KAGURA as an eShop-exclusive title and then publish the enhanced Burst physically on 3DS if that succeeded, but the producer Takaki-san was adamant that since Burst was the superior product, that should be the first one released in North America. Some people that were wanting a physical release of Burst may be bummed to hear this, but you have to respect a producer that is so adamant about quality that he wants to make sure people’s first impressions of his product are the best possible. Burst ended up being a success on eShop and we didn’t get as much backlash from mainstream media as we had feared, so we decided to go all in with a physical release of SHINOVI VERSUS.

What appears to be the biggest change from Burst to SHINOVI VERSUS is the step away from side-scrolling brawler into a more arena based one. What does this new approach do to improve upon the 3DS game?

Brittany Avery, Production Coordinator: I feel it helped immerse me into the environment more. I enjoyed the side-scrolling aspect of Burst, but the way it’s set up makes you approach battles from a fixed distance. In SHINOVI VERSUS, you’re the center of the action and can move freely, so there’s a stronger sense of control and varied movement. It adds a whole new level of strategy to battle, too; with twenty playable characters in an environment like this, you now have to take the direction and range of your and your enemies’ attacks into account more often.

This is nice to hear. I think there was only really one or two lesser websites that raised a fit, but that was it with Burst. Hopefully the same or less with happen with SV.

Guys....guys I am excited. I took care of everything I needed to maybe do tomorrow. So now all I have to do is go to work and then go pick up my copy and play.

Not to far away now!

Contacted Amazon. Since I changed the payment method 2 weeks ago I don't get RDD anymore. Considering this has been happening for all the game I order recently regardless if anything was changed or not, I don't see a reason to keep Prime or use Amazon. Dunno what the hell happened for this to change on me all of a sudden.

Anyway, I shall get my fill of Lifetown either tomorrow or Wednesday if I can find a gamestop that'll have an extra copy.

My delivery date just got changed from the 16th to the 15th.
Much more hyped now.

Guess I'll catch up on the story tomorrow, been putting that off for too long.

So those of you saying you're placing last minute preorders at GameStop, how does that work? Most GameStops already have their stock in and I'm going to assume they only received enough to cover preorders plus maybe 1 or 2 extra. And with the game coming out tomorrow, its not like they're going to get some more overnighted to them.

Just curious as to how this works. I'm suprised they even let you place a "preorder" the day before the game comes out.

I don't own a 3DS so sadly I can't play burst. Where is a good place to catch up on the story as this is a sequel correct?
