I'm playing Gessen right now. It's much more interesting to play than it looks at first glance. Give it a shot at least.

It really is best to play Hanzo first, then Gessen. Playing Gessen gives you a very good look at the inside of the group, their motivations, and their true personalities. Hell, this goes for all the schools.
Plus Yozakura is slowly creeping up my 'favorite shinobi' list.
So my copy finally came in the mail today. I was skimming through the artbook and noticing how high quality it is, thinking XSEED did a great job with the extras.

I did Gessen first just because I wanted to play as the new girls. I had started Hanzo but it reminded be of burst, so I switched to Gessen.
My current Gessen team. My Hanzo girls are made up too; I don't have screens ready, but I can take some if people really are interested.

Mine came in. Bubble mail from Amazon but no damage. I expected it, but having finished both Burst and SK2 on 3DS, it is crazy how much more lewd this one is. While different level. Difficulty seems about the same as Burst, harder than Shinku.

Seems pretty fun so far, it might help that I haven't played anything similar to a Musou game before. I started off with Hebijo Academy, since I think that one girl with the red outfit and the guns is in that one, I really like her outfit, for some reason.
I love all of the unlockables, those should keep me occupied for quite a while.

You may want to do the tutorial. You'll get a trophy for it and it's not very long at all. You'll learn a lot more than that stuff.
Go into Frantic Mode through RB+Triangle. Parries are done by well timed blocks.

I absolutely love her "real ladies fight with their fists and they do it with style" quote. The translation so far really do her personnality justice, the mix between brazen and lady-like.
For parry, just press the right bumper just as the enemy is about to land a hit on you. If you pull it off, you gain one ninja energy+the chance to strike back.
Rage mode or "Frantic" is basically hold R1 to defend, flick two fingers from middle of Vita screen to left and right. You should be taken to a close up of the ninja girl's bossoms and there's an indicator asking you to flick left and right again.
Do that and they will strip down to their underwear and go into Frantic mode.
If you mean "Burst", just press down on D-Pad, but it reduces HP.
Have anyone tried to play online cross-region? I would like to know how good is their netcode.

Use can use modbot, and then work out the finer details over pm.

I almost ended up in that situation, pre-ordered 2 copies and didn't even realize it. Cancelled the other one barely in time though.

My advice is to order from somewhere else, I went with EBGames.ca. It's five bucks more but it looks like they still have it in stock. I ordered yesterday around noon and my copy got here early this morning. Sure beats waiting around without any guarantee you'll even get it.
Anyway, I just finished playing the first few Hanzo missions. So far, this is pretty damn fun!
I wonder if they just do that randomly or something, I forgot to specify to have it in a box as well, but it still ended up coming in a box for me, which was perfect since it didn't get damaged. Hate when amazon sends stuff in bubble mailer, it messed up my Black Lagoon DVD set I bought once
I guess. I felt like complaining, but at the end of the day, I already have my JP version and this copy was more to support the western release, so I decided to let it go.
The important thing is that the goodies inside are okay.

You definitely need to be okay with very overt fanservice, especially if you want to play through the Hebijou story.
You won't be able to avoid Ryona.
Thankfully, I enjoy it. Hopefully you do too!
Anywho, I'm really enjoying the online modes but wow, the difference in how good Murakumo is after transformation as opposed to before is absolutely insane. I went from being in last place in a deathmatch and only having 500 points to winning a first to 50k in less than a minute.

I've been playing the game on and off today and I have to say that I really like it. The transformation and special move animations get old but it's not like I can't just skip them. Katsuragi was a surprise for me, to be honest. I didn't expect to like her as much as I do. Mmm...yes...she will be the one. She will be my shinobi waifu.
