Shadowloo Showdown 2011 | Fighting game tournament in Melbourne, AU | June 25-26

Wow, just catching up on this thread as I've been out all day, so much shit to process:

- VF on stream!
- lack of AE final 16 on stream (were they archived at least?)
- Mike "I believe in "Mike "The Best" Ross" Ross taking out some Japanese gods
- Poongko, a terminator with a neural net processor sent back in time to terminate Yun; also grabbing his belt like Slick

Going to watch the matches now...

wow that team tokido even snapping in phoenix doesn't work

Mago would have won those matches had his Magneto been as good as Tokido's Wolverine. His Magneto was a very clear weak link, if he can improve on it he can be more dangerous than Tokido or Daigo.

Poongko beat Momochi's Yun 3-0 in the final.

Mike "2D God Killer" Ross sent Mago packing.

Poongko taking off his belt = someone is gonna get a hurt real bad

Gamerbee has the most action packed button check of all time.

Thanks everyone for watching. My flight leaves in a few hours. After some time travel, I'll be back in the office on Monday afternoon. Anyone going to San Francisco for the AE launch party? I'll see you there.

Zzz.

If that's a Peter Russell reference, I salute you - made me just laugh out loud.

Looking forward to the next Team Madcatz announcement MarkMan... ;)

So many X-Men characters...
They should've called it X-Men vs Marvel.

Watching archived matches now and christ, hype matches somewhat spoiled by this 'in desperate need of approval / acknowledgement' Australian commentator.

Is that the bald guy?
Nah, the Sagat player - Heavy weapons is his name i think? Although the bald guy and other aussies were anti-hype too, at least they didn't turn the commentary into an unbearable ego trip.

Thank god for the parts with Gootecks, Ross and Jeff on the mic (though even then when the heavy dude was on with one of them he still managed to ruin it).

So glad I went to sleep last night and just skipped to the good stuff in the archives this morning. The top 16 AE matches they did show were great - EVO is going to be brutal this year in the best possible way.

I just ask because one of the other Aussie commentators kind of slammed the bald guy commentator and basically kicked him off the stream. Thought it was hilarious.

Yeah the streammonsters definitely saved that,

" He called it! "

edit : I'm still on such a high from poongkos win, it's like he said it's a gamble but god damn if he didn't make it look stylish and amazing.

Tokido is fucking godlike.

Swept MVC3 as expected. Dude has leveled up to Justin Wong's level now. He has a solid chance at EVO.

Oh man, that's really weird because I thought he was probably the best Aussie commentator they had.

After watching the matches, i'm starting to think Tokido's tactics are actually pretty predictable. His execution and timing are razor sharp so he is still tough to beat, but predictability is the death of any player. So many times he just goes for the Berserker Slash crossup. How long can that continue to work? Justin Wong will adapt and destroy, I think.

I don't think it's being predictable as much as doing the bare minimum that works. Tokido's a really smart player.

But that predictability that you're talking about is why I find him kind of boring to watch.

He had a pretty good chance of winning AE too. I am pretty sure he would have less problem with Poongko's Seth than Momochi's Yun. His Akuma is so tricky and mobile.
