Shigeru Miyamoto's Roundtable for E3 09

O_o' Please, stop living in your little gaf-bubble. It makes you ridiculous (but good news, it's not like you're the only one).

Why is that ridiculous ? If you listen to the reactions of the crowds at the nintendo and at the sony conferences, it's quite symptomatic...

And it's probably nintendo's fault, the conference was chaotic at best, and it seems like nintendo PR is really weak, people hardly get excited for a nintendo game before they have a chance to play it... I think it's a real danger for nintendo, since last year they don't communicate well with their audience.

Link needs re-design, so does the logo.

Cannot stress this enough. Like seriously, no more green tunic looking like that.

Perhaps if they had shown a trailer. This sucks.

Maybe they didn't show a trailer because they'd rather work the goddamned game instead of spending their time putting together an E3 trailer for a game that they aren't even ready to formally announce yet.

How the hell are nintendo planning this?!

so in 2009 we have to wait 6 months without games and Metroid + galaxy 2 and maybe even Zelda are 2010.

:(

Dont forget Pikmin 3

i honestly can't wrap my head around why someone would say something like this. you're a horrible person.

Nothing to show yet, but it shows an adult link. More grown up than ever before.
I like this. I would like more of a 20-something Link, rather than a teen Link, in the next matureda.

I don't really care that much since it's Zelda, but I've always been fond of games with younger Link - LTTP, Wind Waker, Minish Cap.

:lol ‘They’d rather work on the game’ is such bullshit. PR calls the shots.

Didnt anyone ask about Retro*ucking Studios goddam....

Yes, G4 did just after the Nintendo press conference. Reggie basically said that they're not working on Metroid this time, and they didn't have something ready to show at E3.

That's just bull, how much time passed since metroid prime 3 released?2 years???

Is Nintendo's offering for all of 2009 really just going to be NSMBWii (unforgiveable it doesnt have online, the Dreamcast could do this game online) and Wii Sports Resort (enough for the casuals I guess!)? Surely other stuff will appear out of nowhere a month before release later in the year.

Also with the billions of profit Nintendo make, how pathetic is it to read "oh Pikmin team is small, so thats going slow".

Has made me think twice about buying a Wii until 2010.

Umm, Super Mario Galaxy came out in 2007. That's the only excuse anyone needs to buy a Wii.

I wonder how long it was before Metroid Prime 1 was first shown that they were working on that? If they're not working on Metroid then they can't really use the same engine they were using, they'd have to be working mostly from scratch...

The metroid prime engine is very solidly an engine used for Metroid.. most games wouldnt be able to get away with those doors without feeling like Metroid.

Having Kevin Costner as your avatar precludes you from judging anyone else's character.

People still thought we were going to see Pikmin 3? We've already had NPC Pikmin 1 & 2 this year, releasing yet another would've been overkill. Maybe next year.

There definitely was a difference in the audio from the crowds at each event.

Trouble is, the Sony crowds audibly cheered a mention of Naughty Dog, and Hannah Montana. They audibly cheered pretty much anything name-drops. They were either generally more motivated, or generally more audible. That's a lot of space for reasons in which "journalists don't care about Nintendo" only fits a very small area.

I think it had more to do with the mixing. Also, the setup of the venues was different. Cammie kept looking up which worked for the space but came across strange-like on TV.

I also think the general video-game press is pretty hot for Sony's upcoming line-up the most.

Because recently their audience just doesn't want to listen. Maybe now they'll start paying attention again, Nintendo coverage in general is absolutely deplorable at the moment.

Small teams make better games and it takes them longer to do so, that's why we wait and it's always worth it.

Also, Zelda will be dropped at E310 in some fashion, how they'll place it along side a holiday release for Mario Galaxy 2 I don't know, perhaps Zelda will be in the fall.
