He's a Bearded Dragon. I got most my information from this website. They have some very good care sheets and articles about Beardies. The forums are also a wealth of knowledge. If you decide to get one be warned these little guys are easy to fall in love with. :)

Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about getting a pet, but as I tend to be away from home for a day or two quite often I can't take care of something like a dog. Will have to look into whether a Bearded Dragon could be a candidate for a flatmate.

OK here's mine, excuse the blurry pics but it's overcast today and i can't for the life of me take a decent pic.

New Samsung 55" 3d Led TV, i love her so much.

Hi everyone! I'm new here, and this is one of my favorite threads on NeoGaf. Glad to finally share, even though it's nowhere near as nice as some people's on here.

Oh man, after looking at everyone's set-ups, mine seems awfully pathetic.
24bm9g0.jpg

Old CRT, a SNES and a slowly dying 360. Eeeesh.

I'm a gamer since the early nineties and my collection is only half that big as Skel1ingt0n's.

Truly amazing how everyone in the USA seems to be super rich and not even know it themselves.

This is not a hate post, it is just an observation.

Ive been baffled by GAF's wealthiness before, but is the "dont give a fuck" posts that actually "bother" me (they dont really, they just kinda left me :|)

"yeah so this is my boring 40 inch tv, whatevs"

"nothing too fancy, just this 50 inch tv with every console and an HTPC"

I know most of GAF appreciate and take care of their stuff, but yeah, do it harder. Many people would be fuckin thrilled with half of the stuff some of you guys have.

This is my boring 63 inch plasma tv, but I’m rich so whatevs. That’s Woody making a phone call on Christmas morning. He doesn’t give a fuck either. Lastly that’s my dog, as you can see shes made of pure gold. I give her a weekly allowance that’s the equivalent of working a minim wage job but shes never spent any of the money because shes a dog. I have to assume she does not give a fuck.

Well we threw away our 60" Rear Projection Sony XBR HDTV

Replaced it with this bad boy:

65" Panasonic Palsma 3DTV (VT25)
(Got free Panasonic 3D Blu-Ray Player + Avatar 3D)
Other stuff pictured = Move + Goodies for my PS3

My 46" 1080p Sharp Aquos, is getting old (yes 4 years feels old), hoping to score a nice Panasonic VT25 or VT30 (the latest edition) around 55" for Black Friday, here's hoping

That's funny, I still have my 50" XBR, though it started having some bizarre issues. First I had a green haze appear on the screen after about 2 years which was a common issue with those sets but a tech came out and fixed it. Then about a year later it would only power on for a few seconds then shut off. This was remedied by turning on the high altitude function which increases the fan speed. Sometimes when I changed the channel, the number on the screen would indicate a change, but the channel wouldn't budge. And finally there is now a small dancing shadow in the left corner which I assume is dust that's interfering with the projection. What issues were you having?

First the "LAMP" died, my mom purchased the TV without me, never was told that a "BULB" was needed on a 3-5 year basis

Got it replace out of warranty (mom got 1 year extension =/)
Cost $475 for 10 minute fix, $200 for part, $225 labor (for 3 screws and swapping)

Then new lamp died 1 year later, I watched and learned and did it DIY, $200

Then 6 months later Optica Box starts dieing, my TV had 2-3 blue pixel dots, with-in 3 months it was like a blue star universe (starburst effect)

Then the screen just got a smokey blue overlay

She bought TV for $5,000 + $1000 maintenance , lasted 6 years, so $1000 per year =/, such waste

I did the shopping now, got the 65" Panny, for $3500.00, with the bundle + warranty (4 year) + tax = $4500

I broke in Plasma 3DTV with color slides, then every week, I do the 15 minute anti-image retention swipe
(No burn ins)

I dont generally play favorites with brands, every product on earth will have some lemons but both of my sets prior to the Samsung were Sonys, and they both gave me major issues. That's enough for me to steer clear of them for awhile.

I finally got somewhere with my bedroom set up and the retro godness, just need some old school game's now xD The Vegas 2 xbox is NTSC-U and the Deathsmiles is NTSC-J, I have 2x PAL in my living room on dual TV's :) The thing next to the Jap 360 is a cheap BD player for when I want to watch BD's in bed and my old laptop is there for when I'm bored!

:lol my first thought as well

Wow, I got a bunch of hate ;p

No, actually a super-broke single mother. I come from Suburbia, sure... but my mom doesn't even own a car b/c she can't afford it. And even still, I got no financial aid, because I'm a middle class white male, and I have another parent that doesn't help like he should.

I paid for a state university entirely by myself. Sure, I took out loans... but since I have no co-signer, I couldn't get anything past the standard gov't loans; which don't come close to covering the cost. Every semester was a struggle, and I spent a lot of time with advisers each semester pleading my case. Yes, I have a lot of loans out. But I guarantee I have a lot less than ANYONE else who paid for state tuition entirely by themselves, unless they got financial assistance, or a bunch of scholarships (I applied for about 50; and even with a 4.3/4 in HS, and working fulltime, I wasn't awarded any, save for a $1000 for two semesters for my ACT score).

To get by, I've keep THREE jobs while in school. I always work 40hrs/week, even while taking 15 credits and doing extra curricular stuff, and have a girlfriend. In the summer, I start working the day after school lets out, and work 50+hrs/week.

Sure, I have a fair amount of stuff; but I've also been collecting since I was in 4th grade. And most that stuff I got for MUCH less than people might expect... I got that Alienware deskop for less than $800 from Dell through their refurb store, daily deal, coupon, and talking to a rep. I got the PS3 for $150. I got the Wii for $130. Most those games I got for at least half off, if not for less than $15. ... $15 is what a lot of people spend on a meal.

I said my TV was "boring" because it's not 240+Hz, it's not LED, and it's not super thin. I got that on clearance for ~$300 a few months back from Walmart. Yes, I'm definitely happy to have it. And I know I'm lucky. There are many people who have it much worse.

But no, it's *certainly* not rich parents. And it's definitely not loans. It's hard work, lots of deal hunting, and a little luck. At 22, I've worked fulltime since 9th grade (Go BK, lol), have lived with a single mother w/o money (who I do love lots, though), and have people constantly tell me I won't be able to afford school.

Sure, I have some nice stuff. But that's my vice. I don't drink/gamble/party/speed and get tickets, drive a BMW, etc. I blow some $$ on games each month.

/rant. Anyway, sorry for the loooong reply; I don't meant to bore anyone. But I didn't want my first impression to be "spoiled rich kid living off parents' teet". ;) But I suppose I can understand how someone might make that assumption. :-)

Hey man, you do not need to defend yourself. After all, this thread is meant to show off and you showed off very well indeed :)

At first it sounded like you said you were a broke single mother, and I was like "Uh... wow, ok..."

lol, yeah, that would piss me off, too.

My mom hasn't bought a TV in nine years, and a computer in four. ;)

No, I wouldn't be pissed, more like, surprised...
Frankly, females are probably a small set of the posters on this forum. Of that set, mothers would be an even smaller set. And of that smaller set, I guess single-mothers would be a further smaller amount. So I thought for a second I had witnessed one of the, say, three single-mothers that posts on this forum haha.

I took this pic for the TSL thread, still applies, 47" Aquos, a Pioneer 919 and some cheap Polk bookshelf speakers (it's an apartment, do I can't blow eardrums anyway). I'm too lazy to take a pic of my computer room, it's an old tower PC with 21" and 19" monitors.

My 4 year old 50" SXRD is still alive and well after I changed the bulb myself just a few months ago. The bulb I found only cost $125 so it wasn't bad at all considering all the use the TV gets. And I find never to get service warrenties because they are way too over priced on items such as TVs.

For those of you with PS2's hooked up to your HDTV's did you just use the stock cables to do it? I picked up some component cables and tried changing the settings in the startup menu on the PS2 and all I get is the picture in black and white. Wondering what you guys are using that seems to be working.

Back when I had mine, I used some 3rd party component cables I picked up from gamestop. If you're only getting B/W make sure you got the colors plugged in the right inputs (R in R, B in B, G in G).

I hesitate to post these pics because they are about 5 months old (so technically it's my 2010 setup!)

PC setup is an Eyefinity configuration with 3x24" monitors running at 5760x 1200 being pushed by an Alienware PC from Dell which is 8 months old right now. I have a G13 Game pad and a WoW Cataclysm mouse (which is surprisingly great for all things PC). Sound system is a Logitech Z5500 setup with a Logitech G35 Headset when required. I have an iPad and a laptop that I run along side me for watching movies and surfing while I play. I also keep a DS behind my center channel speaker.

My Living room setup is a 56" rear projection Samsung that was obsolete the moment I walked out the door with it. It's still a good set though. I have gigantic 18" Pioneer speakers from 1993 out there and an old Pioneer receiver that I still love. I also have a black 360 Elite and a PS3 slim out there for gaming. (daughter posing)

DSCN0886.jpg

In the bedroom I have a 44" LED Samsung, a red 360 Elite, and a PS3 slim. (other daughter posing)
Picture377.jpg

For media and the like, I have around 130 Xbox 360 games, 30 PS3 games, around 1300 DVDs and Blu Rays, and still have room for my other equally man-childish and expensive hobbies of miniature painting and playing board games. I'll post pics of all that crap too if people really want to see them.

Boring 40" Samsung LCD,

Ugh , I have that same TV. (le40A565 right?)
Wait till you have it for a year or 2-3 , it will become loud as a motherfucker.
Those fans in the back start buzzing obnoxiously loud as the bearings wear out :\

One reason to buy an LED tv over a CFL backlit LCD, the leds don't emit much heat -> no need for cooling fans ->no noise, EVER.

1100 euros for what's pretty much a throw away after 2 years, I never regretted a purchase as much as this one.

Actually it's the LN40C500.

Sorry to hear about your problems, though. That sucks.

That said, I got mine on clearance earlier in the year for $328 @ Walmart. A name brand, 40", 1080p LCD for ~$300? Yes please. It was a great excuse to finally upgrade from an old 46" Hd rear-projection CRT.

But for $300, I plan to relegate it to a spare bedroom or something rather soon. Once I can afford a 3D plasma, I'll be going that route.

Ha, must be my "junior" status that gets me overlooked haha. I posted it in post #560

But I'll post the dollar amounts in this post

JVC DLA-RS40 (3D projector)
$3499

JVC Glasses (x3):
$480

JVC 3D emitter (no the damn thing does NOT come with the projector...):
$70

Definitive Technology Mythos SSA-50 soundbar (BestBuy closeout pricing, however, this item doesn't technically count since we bought it months before the projector setup but I'm including it because this item is what drove what screen we could/would get):
$680

Seymour AV Centerstage XD (we could have gone with a monoprice electric screen for way less but then the difference in price would have been made up by the need for a new speaker setup as well as install so we went with an acoustically transparent electric screen):
$2221

APC J10 (black):
$400

Samsung C6800:
$200

Onkyo TX-SR608:
$375

AV "rack":
$155

Wiring/mounting costs:
$2400

To help defray some of the costs (read: a pittance) we sold the "old" setup for ~$1100.
