That desk is amazing! Did it cost much?

Computuh:

Core 2 Quad Q6600 OC'd @ 3.5 GHz (Tuniq Tower 120 ftw)
8 GBs OCZ DDR2
OC'd Radeon 5850
Still need to finish that case mod. Mostly just need to smooth the edges out a little more.

It's connected to my TV + 5.1 system and the monitor so I can have my "comfy couch" experience on PC (and in stereo 3D with iZ3D drivers) OR a more precise KB + mouse experience.

A few things have changed in the living room, wall mounted TV, exposed center channel and decorations are down clearly.

Any suggestions for shelving solutions? I'm moving my stuff down stairs, and need more shelves. I got games and Blurays all over the place. The current shelves are filled.

Ikea Billy shelves are cheap and decent looking. They're just MDF frames, but they're probably good enough for the basement, and they're super configurable.

Off topic slightlty but what camera are you guys using to take these high quality gaming setups? Any Point and shoots and if so what brand/price.

Thx

Very cool. How many games will display like that? Also, do your eyes bug out from sitting so close?

I love your room and I'll tell you why. Two words: High Contrast.

Damn, there is some really nicely layed out settings and really cool setups here.

I don't feel like my can live up, and I've been pretty happy with the contents of everything that I've got... but the actual ROOM layout is something that's lacking in mine... mine's just technology slapped everywhere.

I apologise for the horrible iPhone camera shot... it's the best I could get it (and it's bad). I don't own a digital camera. Wow it's bad.

The wide shot of everything.

deskank9.jpg

Bit of a better framed look at just the desk (most of the joy happens here). The PC - love that case sooo much - and the rest of the good stuff is here.

chairfo77.jpg

Chair was a group 25th birthday present from about 20 friends, was not cheap, is as good as it looks - totally incredible. Like sitting on clouds. Plus Mario cushion.

ps3mtqq.jpg

The PS3 gets just as much, if not more game time than the PC at the moment. My Xbox 360 controller is at my brothers with the 360 atm so I need to buy another one to get the 'comfy couch pc' back in action.

PC is:

Core i7-860 @ 3.5 Ghz
HIS ATI 5970 @ 850/1200 1.16v
G.Skill Falcon II 128GB SSD
G.Skill 2300 DDR3 RAM
Corsair 750W PSU
House in an Obsidian 700D case (this is my prized possession - well, that and my ultra amazing desk chair)
iMac 27" display & Dell 24" & 50" Samsung Plasma

There are speakers and a Sony Amp there as well as a 3DS, PS3 and lots of games (brother has my Xbox 360 atm). It's not really very tidy or clean... or really anything that special at all.

I'm in the market for a replacement, would you mind sharing how much and what chair that is?

A poker buddy of mine bought something similar (I believe without knowing the brand/model offhand) and swears by it. I can't justify paying that much for a chair though. Can only imagine...

Easy to clean stains off of?

Do you mean fap stains? Thankfully I haven't had any spills to clean yet :p

It is of my opinion that my level of gaming enjoyment increased substantially since getting the chair. Its just so comfy and you forget you're sitting in anything and just go into the world you're playing.

Ive had mates that come over to watch a movie and choose and would rather sit in this than my (also amazingly awesome) couch.

Comfort is one of the things that I regard most highly in my life.

Will post chair brand details when I get home. I don't know the price because it was a gift but I believe it was over $400 AU

Honestly this is way better than 3x 24" monitors in every way. There is a physical min distance I have to sit away from the screens due to the table and it's perfect. Really a lot better than I expected.

For the game previously displayed (Bulletstorm) I had to do a widescreen fix cause it isn't supported natively.

I mainly play Rift and the UI is fully movable so it's perfect. I also play Dirt 2, Shift, Shift 2 and the setup is beyond good. Bad Company 2 is a fave and that runs like a dream as well.

Have been playing some crysis 2 as well and it moves the hud to the outer TVs which isn't ideal but is still workable.

RTS games I usually have to play on a single screen. The UI is just too all over the place.

EDIT

Nice, the bezels would annoy me though.

Do you get used to them after a while?
I use a triple monitor setup, so I can answer you:
While gaming you usually don't notice them, since the side monitors are, for all purposes, peripheral vision.
Depending on the game this setup could give you vertigo. For me it happened with Just Cause 2 while climbing on top on tall buildings or antennae, I was freaking out.
But for racing, fps and even rpgs it's the bestest thing ever.
Tip: never, ever use a two-monitor setup. Having the bezels in the middle is the most annoying thing in the world.

I'm guessing single with a high paying job? I can't imagine a lot of wives supporting that kind of set up unless you're making funny money.

Looks pretty sweet, though.

Thanks for that, it was something I was considering but until seeing it in action I don't know if I could live with. I'm wondering if a bezel-less setup can be contructed using mirrors (like Ninja Warriors and Darius coin-ops did with CRTs a long time ago)

I went with a 2.40+:1 projector screen with which I can kind of get a wider fov at the expense of vertical resolution, works well enough on PC racing games but lacks the wrap around effect a triple monitor setup gives and I like that.

Who needs windows, right? Seriously, amazing setup. Easy to put yourself (literally) into your games.

How is the response time and is there any noticeable input lag on those panels?

Thanks. I had the wall colour all chosen out as soon as we moved in, the landlords were nice enough to let us paint whatever we wanted and let us in a week early to paint. About a month later I found this in a lighting catalogue at work (for anyone who wants to be inspired to see some nice ass fucking rooms, find some high class lighting manufacturers and look in their catalogues, they ALWAYS have amazingly photographed and beautiful rooms to show off their big money fixtures)

So the vibe I have been shooting for is this:

5616339364_6b2ffeb6fd_z.jpg

I'm putting in a countertop attached to the all under the window for a long kind of desk, so I wanna use that pale wood colour and the matte metal ("Brushed Chrome" is what most fixtures we have at work are nowadays) for the legs. Inspired by one of the GAFers most amazing pickups, I REALLY want to add the Herman Miller Sayl chair in green but... yeah... $700 for a chair is a bit much so I'll have to find something else.

Overall it's too slow! I would love to have a bunch of cash to just buy everything I want to make it look how I want but alas, poor student syndrome.

You are right; Single, a very good paying job. I'm home one week out of three so this is my holiday hideaway I guess. Work at least 14 hour days when i'm at work. I can't imagine finding a partner who would be interested in the way I live so I just enjoy myself the best I can.

As to the question about bezels. The brain is very good at filtering information. there are prople who have blind spots on the retina and their brains filter it out. It's the same. Of course some people will see the bezels and it will drive them crazy (think dead pizels).

As to input lag. I'm using plasma TVs which have a 600 hz sub frame. There is no input lag. Which is 100% true except for Crysis 2; why? I don't know. But i've adapted and it's fine.

Nice. Great hues for an environment with good natural lighting. Which brand(s) and colors did you use?

Funny enough we stole the colour from my parents, who stole the idea from us. When we moved into our last place, the landlord had painted the second room green. I was in love with it. My parents liked it too and painted their office green. When we moved into this place, I liked their green so I poached it. I guess due to the lighting etc. our room looks totally different than theirs....

That's the exact colour. It's weird though, it took almost 4 coats and there is still some bleedthrough. We did the bedroom in the same brand, but a dark blue and it only took 2 for full coverage.
