Summary(IGN+Chatgpt);

The protagonist, Hinako, is a high school student who runs away from home after a fight with her alcoholic father. The game starts out like a dramatic walking simulator and later transitions into horror and action.
  • Focused entirely on melee combat. Weapons include iron pipes, kitchen knives, baseball bats, and more.
  • Weapon durability plays a major role. Damaged weapons visibly change in appearance.
  • Resource management (limited repair kits, inventory capacity) reinforces the survival horror feel.
  • Focus Mode helps with timing dodges and counterattacks. Those familiar with games like Sekiro will feel right at home.
  • A unique mental energy system ties the protagonist's fear and mental state into gameplay. If Hinako is too frightened or tired, she may even freeze and be unable to move.
  • The final part of the preview takes place in a deserted school, reminiscent of classic Silent Hill interiors.
  • Players explore, solve puzzles, and fight or escape enemies while navigating via a map that fills out automatically as you explore.
  • An alternate world sequence exists, where Hinako wields traditional Japanese weapons like the Naginata. These weapons don't break but can't be used in the normal world.
  • Multiple endings are confirmed, including the classic UFO ending.
  • Akira Yamaoka's music adds tension and unease.
  • Estimated length: 12–13 hours.
  • If you loved the Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f might captivate you just the same.
It's shaping up to be a serious Game of the Year contender

It sounds promising.

Is there a lore reason why I want to bang the main character?

Went PS5 Pro over PC for this so I can get my copy 2 days early (same as Delta).

Can't wait, Konami are the best in the biz.

Shouldn't have been called Silent Hill though, should have been something else.

This is the actress of the game, why do they that with their cheeks? lol

Having lived in Japan as a gaijin for most of my adult life , LMTYS, Japanese women are strange. I married one, lol.

There is an overwhealming obsession to be 'cute' and do stupid fucking poses on all pictures. Even in our wedding photos, her and all of her friends are doing these poses and hand gestures and peace signs and stuff. It's omega cringe.

The graphics and production value is off the charts, it looks amazing, but the problem for me is I don't care for this main character at all. The appeal of horror for me is the main character, this character looks about as bland as they come.

Came for Silent Hill, stayed for dude bashing his wife and all her friends and culture.

Was really worried about the game, considering its Japanese set, but the studio is Taiwanese and has only a track record as a support studio.

But as someone who lived already 16 years in Japan it feels authentic to me and it really looks very very promising. Seems at least the same quality as the silent hill 2 remake. Hope it will also sell well and they will announce a silent hill f 2, then we can look forward to the remake and f2.

And what's wrong with them being happy or doing that? Do you see it as bad?

🙄

People here are free to do whatever they want.

I think they're cute and I like them posing like that. I prefer that to the bitter, woke fatties or the ones who act exaggerated.

I prefer japanese girls and asían cute.

I say I prefer these pretty girls and their pretty gestures a thousand times over the miserable witches who behave hatefully.

Yeah, the women are a little out of it over there. Seen grown women in high heels walking up the trails to Iwakuni Castle. Not easy or road type trails either.

Between that and the older Samurai training the teenager to protect the bridge made with no nails or screws into the small town area of the old Shoguns was great.

Spent a few years in the region training for jungle warfare in Iwakuni and Okinawa.

It doesn't look bad as horror game #894 but I have no idea why is it called Silent Hill, except for marketing reasons.
People are saying this when just looking at it you can tell it's Silent Hill.
Yet RE7&8 couldn't be more removed from the franchise and people say it's a true RE game...

so, only RE0, 1, 2 3 are true RE games ?
Anything after Code Veronica has lost more and more of its identity, RE7&8 could be named something else and you'd be none the wiser without them changing the story much.

RE7 is closer to 1 and RE8 is closer to 4 but in first person, would ppl be ok if 7 and 8 were third person ??? or this #notmyRE would be the same ???

imo RE5 and 6 are way waaaaaaaay more lost on identity than 7 and 8 combined.

Game has a Silent Hill and Fatal Frame blend IMO just without a camera.

I think I was a bit apprehensive about this game for a while but I'm in Day 1 after this. I love that this also has a much bigger focus on combat and melee-only makes sense in this setting.

Also, the town looks fucking fantastic. Art direction and graphics are A+. Exploration seems really good too with a bigger focus on the town rather than "dungeons".

PS: Using this gif a lot lately. Lots of cool shit coming.

It looks good and it has that SH2 jank combat which actually enhances the experience as a horror title with limited options instead of being the typical TPS with jumpscares.

Sound design is on point with the doll enemy sounds and even the sounds with the lights flickering in the town areas and the eeriness of the fog.

Which IMO without the obscuring fog it wouldn't really be a Silent Hill game.

--------

On the subject of pure RE games the last one has always been RE3 Nemesis. The rest have a lot more focus on action and jumpscares. Yes even RE7. And it feels less about Zombies but more about eldritch horrors that are too much for a RE Universe game. And this really all started with RE4 and snowballed from there.

I prefer my RE games to be about uncovering a mystery and surviving a Zombie apocalypse instead of the high fantasy vibe they went with for the past 15 years.

I like all the games but RE 1-3 and Revelations Subseries are my favorites.

It's why games like Signalis and Crow's Country are so well received. And I imagine Fear Made Flesh and Ground Zero will be similarly liked.

Speaking of old school RE survival horror games...do you know what that PS1 style one is called that was recently shown with a guy starting in a hospital room and having to escape to the window ledge? It's snowing out? I can't remember the name but it looked great. Polish devs maybe?
