after yesterdays update I can't get into the game. Crashes every time it loads.

Level 44 is up. Adds Database with a computer store for like a million dollaridoos, Akira with the Happy Sumo restaurant for 100 donuts, a new squid port restaurant, a plum tree decoration for some reason, and two new friend point items - Mr Teeny and the Marge Simpson/Jimmy Carter tether ball statue. Say what you will about this game, but it's pretty on song with classic Simpsons references, that's for sure.
Just passed 22k. Getting over 1k/day easy so I'll get everything no problem. I don't know why people go after castles without cheaters. Its almost impossible to succeed unless you do it at night and use a crapload of guys.
Nobody is going to not notice over 12+ hours.
I just pick randoms I can max out with 9 or 10 nerds. I success 95% of the time.

It's a bit more time consuming, particularly if it's really laggy switching between random towns, but I've found much greater success just hitting each building with one nerd. What I'll do is keep switching towns until I find one with regular buildings starting at 13 hours or castles starting at 15, then just pop off one nerd at five buildings, then move on to the next town until I find a similarly low defense town. Certainly a lot of attacks will fail, but when I come back 12 hours later, I've usually ended up with around 7000 elixirs and 2000 gold. This is of course now that I have 75 nerds per 2 hours, although I'll usually only get 4 rounds off in a day.

Apparently they can be purchased on weekends now and not just Wednesdays.
(I've already got my 38K gold so I could care less. Come and raid my castles people... I won't be defending them.)
This is rather annoying. I had practically every character doing the same quest job that put them all in a brown house, and that brown house got sacked by an invader, but now it's just a smoking wreck with no icons floating above it which cannot be interacted with. So basically I'm stuck with no characters and a useless building. Anyone know what to do about this?

That happened to me. Scroll the the north east and you'll find the hammer sign a good deal away from it.
Yeah, since my brown house was nearly at the top of the map, the repair icon was pretty much way off the map, and all the thumbs had disappeared.
Could you not temporarily move it all the way down, do it, and then move it back?
Oh, I had already fixed it. Just meant to clarify how it looked for anyone else who might happen to run into it. Was just lucky that I happened to swipe the map all the way to the top since I hadn't yet seen your post.

Can't wait for Halloween. I'm assuming it's coming right after this event ends, on the week of October 7th.

While not quite as successful as you, I've had pretty good luck with this method as well. Much better than my previous method of throwing max nerds at low defense towns every couple of hours. I don't even bother with defense levels now and just play the odds.
I got a late start on this update and should be able to get the end bonus now. I don't think I had a chance the other way.

I hope it actually has worthwhile rewards. I'm absolutely nowhere near getting the higher tiers of rewards for the Clash of Clans event, but I could absolutely not care less about a catapult or a statue of Homer. A character, or a desirable building, or something.
The Halloween event last year is the best the game has been, and it'll be a shame if it's as underwhelming as everything has been since Christmas ended this time around.

I found a glitch. When I grow something in the farm and go to Krusty Land, more than 24 hours pass by only for the farm. So:
-Grow the 24hr crop.
-go to Krusty land.
-come back and you will find $600 waiting for you in the farm.
Milk the glitch while it lasts. I screwed up and grew the 90 day crop and only 30 hrs passed by using the glitch

That's a lot more commitment than I would have on a lark. I stopped bothering with gold and attacks once I cleared the 38K plateau.I guess I can stop raiding now. I was hoping there'd be some secret prize at 100k gold, but alas no. Now I can set to work replacing every single fence and wall in my town with castle walls.
Incidentally, I'm no longer defending my castles so if anyone wants to attack them for maximum payoff for little investment, feel free to drop by.
Still have to defend my homes because I don't get revenue from them if I don't.

Gorgeous Grampa was a mid-season episode. Last season's premiere episode was Homerland. It appears that the promotional items released for it included the Hi-Glow Waste Barrels premium item and the Three-Eyed Sushi booth for the Squidport. Along with two brief quest lines - Feeding the Trolls and Conventional Wisdom.
They were released on the Thursday prior to the premiere so it would stand to reason that the same timeline would apply this year. So perhaps we'll get something towards the end of next week.

I just passed 38k This morning. I was using max nerds on houses with 12 hour times or less and getting about 1200-1300 gold a day which was more then enough to get to 38k in the timeframe necessary. Now for kicks, I'm trying using only one nerd per attack and my shit is getting tapped every single time. Nobody doesn't load their game up at least once every 12 hours. My production is under 1/2 what it was during my old stratagy.

Single nerd attacks but only on castles and hitting random villagers.
Stopping at towns with a number of decimated houses (clearly abandoned for more than 12 hours already) to throw some extra nerds individually at whatever's left standing.
Had no problem clearing 38K a couple weeks back with that strategy.

Either we're not actually getting a Halloween event this year, or they're looking to transition to a model where there's constantly an event on. The Halloween event started October 1st last year, and the Clash of Clones event doesn't finish until the 7th.
I suspect the Clash of Clones update was delayed rather last minute, and that threw off the release schedule. There was that month of nothing, then an event, and 2 level releases during it, which I don't think has happened before. I would think Clash of Clones was originally supposed to have been done by the time Level 45 hit, which would mean the two events wouldn't of run into each other.

At least this year that's not the case. THOH XXV will have an almost timely air date of October 19th.
I'm half-expecting some season premiere-related content & update on Thursday of this week.
Perhaps we'll get a Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky for our virtual Springfields.

I'm just glad that 45 did come because otherwise i'd be not doing much...

Yup. Can take a while to find suitable targets but it's worth it.

I'm about 1.5k gold off the final reward. Thank god. This event did not need to be this long. At least the Family Guy Comic Con event changed multiple times a week.
Quest for Stuff might be too greedy at times and make some missteps but they're certainly piling on the content lately. Does anyone fancy doing an OT for it? From the Facebook page they seem to be hinting at some upcoming Ghostbusters content.

Last reward done. Finally. Roll on Halloween. Despite liking the look of my castle now I've gotten it how I like I think the event did not need to be this long.
It'll certainly be interesting to compare the Simpson's halloween event to the Family guy
one when they both get started.
