The DVD will include 2 discs. You will have the option to watch each story by itself with extra scenes, most likely with the few things that were left out from the comics. I can't fucking wait.

Heh, that's just 4 months after the the movie's opening day. I guess in a couple of years we'll be seeing simultaenous releases on the theaters and on DVD. :p

They already got that with Bollywood movies, actually the DVD/VHS's come out BEFORE the movie in threaters. It's fucked up.

I'd be pretty pissed off if America was already getting the full extras release, considering it's not out here yet (this Friday though, woo hoo). Stupid studios bitching about piracy, they ain't exactly helping things by pulling crap like this, and we aren't even the last market to get it. Although I think it being the only movie I'm really excited to watch at the moment isn't helping the wait.

Eventually when home theatre systems are the norm, some kind of digital delivery system will phase out the multiplex threatre as we know it. Sure, some theatres will always exist for the novelty of a pop-culture phenomenon debuting at midnight, celebrity premieres and indie film fare, but the system as we know will probably cease to be.

And I can't wait for that day.

On a related note, I can't wait for the Sin City release, even if it barebones, because that is easily the best film release this year. By a mile. I mean, Crash has its moments, but it's all over the place and is extremely over-the-top in places. So, yeah, Sin City better win all the golden statues.

unless they can somehow manage to charge $10 for every person sitting on your couch watching the movie, or they start charging $100 for dvd movies, there will ALWAYS be movie theatres.

Like that'll ever happen, it'll be some, at this point unknown, made for weakminded awards judging idiots to have their votes bought for drek.

And Ninja Scooter's right. These rapid turnarounds on DVDs are just another way to fleece people, usually the biggest fans, by suckering them into buying a barebones release, before double-dipping for a second, special edition. And then maybe a director's cut version a few years down the line with some more, mostly worthless extras thrown in.

From DigitalBits:

"Buena Vista and Dimension have confirmed that Frank Miller's Sin City will street on 8/16 (SRP $29.99). The disc will feature 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen video, with both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio. The extras are as yet unannounced, but look to be just a production featurette and storyboards. You can expect a more elaborate release later in 2005 or sometime in 2006."

Just a little update...IGNDVD states that Sin City is being released on UMD, the same day as the DVD, on August 16th! Rock on!
