There's the Comic Con Sin City footage in a nice high-res Quicktime! This is the "trailer" that was rumored to come out this week. There IS a trailer on the way, but this is what they wanted to get out first. It's the full reel they showed at Comic Con that shows the comic panels compared to the movie footage and how well Miller and Rodriguez were able to match the shots in the comic. This isn't some crappy bootleg filmed by some camera in the audience, but a direct feed of the footage.

And apparently Miller really IS co-directing the movie, which is why it can perfectly match the panels from the comic in so many cases.

Imagine Miller teaming up with someone like say, Christopher Nolan, to co-direct a Dark Knight Returns (not DK2) movie.

This looks insane.

+1 on the DKR idea with Chris Nolan, if this movie is even a slight success I can that happening.

Now a Stray Bullets movie with Quentin and Lapham co directing.

Seems kind of... ok. The acting seems kind of lame and some of the dialogue doesn't work well in a movie setting. I dunno, I guess we'll see.

Ha, that was pretty cool. I can best sum it up with my inner monologue upon first watching;

"boring.....boring......jesus talk some fucking more.......... bor-holy shit! the fuck did that come from! oh hey that looks cool. hey, that guy's yellow!"

Haha. The Yellow Bastard strikes again! This movie is going to be the bee's knees, bay-bee.

Looks like just another Rodriguez film. Some cool visual style but ultimately boring. It was pretty uninspiring.

Correction, it's a Frank Miller and Rob Rod film. It should at least be 1:1 with the comic book, which is good enough for me.

Considering Frank Miller has never done a damned thing in film, until I'm proven wrong it looks a lot like another stylized but boring film from Rodroguez. This footage certainly didn't show any change or new influence in his filmmaking.

There are a lot of things I could say about Robert Rodriguez films, but 'boring' has never even crossed my mind o_O

I'll write here what I wrote in the Hero thread, "Ha, too much dialogue. People who say that about movies should be shot."

Bottom left. Does somehting seem wrong with her face, like structurally.

Aren't they just giving Miller co-director because they're filming it shot-by-shot from the comic? Swear I read that on one of the sites during the con.

I hope they don't splice in comic book frames in the movie. *flashbacks of House of the Dead* Looks neat otherwise.

Well, Mexico was a bore to me, but the first two El movies were exciting and well-done action pieces. I didn't like Dusk Til Dawn but there was nothing boring about that movie either.

Honestly I have no idea where Dan is coming from (although it does remain to be seen how much influence Miller has on the movie's direction).

They're boring because he has a terribly difficult time creating any kind of empathy for his characters. I've never really cared about what happens to the characters in his films. That's boring.

I haven't read Sin City, and all I can say is that watching this footage doesn't really indicate to me that there's a second director. It seems like standard Rodriguez to me. And throughout all of that footage, I can't help but think, "it looks cool, but why should I care?" Maybe that's part of the point of the comic, but at this stage of the game outside of some visuals I don't see anything of interest.

You don't really need to read the comic to tell that the movie is going to follow the storylines of the comic extremely close, like LotR-close. Miller's story (and character development) is probably going to stand out more than Rod's direction.

and if you don't like Rodriguez's work, QT is directing a segment or two of Sin City iirc.

Miller & Aronofsky were teaming on a Batman year one project (see AICN fake script). Too bad Nolan's project was greenlighted :p

Goyer's Batman Begins script is the best Batman movie even written.
