Since the Switch 2 is selling so well, do you think there will be exclusive games for it from third parties?

The Wonderful 101 was a first-party game, while Rayman Legends came out everywhere at launch.

Other than Nintendo paying for timed exclusives and potentially publishing games made by third party devs?. No

What would a third party published game have to gain from ignoring the massive Playstation and PC install base?

Publeshers are impeciles, they ported 5 years old games expecting them to sell like day 1 games on the switch 2

I believe third party games will sell well IF they relesed them day 1

Exclusive third party games will not be a thing except for what Nintendo pays for or the weird Japanese stuff

Isn't Nintendo publishing it?
They aren't.

I think some might try, but most wont ever try. You know the hard lesson for squareenix and some others.

I think there will be Japanese devs that will make games with Switch 2 in mind first, but open to be ported later to other systems.

We might see exlusive games from Level 5 or 3rd part devs make exlusive game like Platinum games did with Astral Chain.

I was just thinking earlier today...why do people keep bringing up exclusive third party games being so important for Nintendo systems...when none of the other platforms have exclusive third party games anymore either really. The Switch and Switch 2's benefit is being a good handheld device that you can dock and still get a good experience (steam deck is fine portably, but not so great when docked).

No they are not even getting the full support from third parties let alone exclsuives. Sure you'll see the outlier here and there but Nintendo will never be any third parties primary focus.

With modern development economics? Unless Nintendo put their own resources towards it, I don't know what a company would have to gain from keeping their game off the other consoles and Steam.

There's already some cross-gen exclusives that are Japan focused or have a deal with Nintendo. But these will be rare. The vast majority of third party games will be multiplatform.

I believe Fromsoftware will publish in Japan, Nintendo will publish in the West.

Rayman is actually notable because it was made as a Wii-U Gamepad-inspired title and they still changed their minds and made it multi-platform by launch anyway lol.

I loved both Mario + Rabbids titles! Shame it's a dead franchise (from what I remember Ubi wasn't happy with the sales of the sequel)

It's a bit unclear for now, as every single regional Nintendo page lists From Software as the publisher. In reality, nothing was really said about Nintendo publishing it on the West on that initial PR, just 'From Software/Nintendo', and I'm starting to think that it was just a retail distribution deal.

There will be, but maybe not like the examples of your post.

I'm convinced Konami will at least launch a Switch 2 version of that crazy train-board game title (Momotaro Dentetsu?) at some point.

There will certainly be some exclusives from indie developers that are designed specifically to use the Switch 2 hardware. In fact, that campfire game from the partner showcase is already an example of this.

There might also be another Mario + Rabbids situation where Nintendo lets a third party create an exclusive game using their IP. (Hyrule Warriors is arguably already an example of this, depending on how you count it.)

There probably won't be too many timed exclusives from major third party publishers this time around, because the industry is increasingly moving away from those. Look at the original Octopath Traveler vs. Octopath Traveler 0, for example. The first game was a Switch timed exclusive. The new one is multiplat at launch.

I think that was because Nintendo gives the IP to Platinum Games but currently Astral Chain is owned by Nintendo.

Yeah, if I'm remembering correctly, Platinum originally wanted to port the Wonderful 101 to the Switch, but Nintendo wasn't interested in footing the bill, so they reached a deal where Nintendo either gave or sold ownership of the IP to Platinum.

Like Duskbloods ?
I just don't think a Fromsoft game will stay on the S2 when it's core audience is largely on Sony/PC platforms. Even moreso that's an Online game and would reach more people being on all platforms.

Not sure how much of a NSO seller it will be. Since it'll primarily be there to boost NSO numbers.

I very much would like a Astral Chain 2. But given P* Games current anime game is NG4 I doubt we will see a AC2 for some time.

The least they could do is give us 60 FPS for AC on the S2.

Even if the Switch 2 is selling really well, the vast majority of the third party games are selling terribly on the console so I doubt they will get many, if any third party exclusives. Then again, it's not helping third parties by releasing 5 to 10 year old games for AAA prices either. Honestly though, even if the third party games did come out of day one for Switch, they probably still wouldn't sell because Mario or Pokémon is not on the cover art.

there will only be timed exclusives that will come to Switch 2 first because it's a small dev and they don't have the manpower to port to everything at once, so the Switch 2 will be the first one they launch on.
