I don’t know what’s the problem u guys have with John or anyone. They are all fine for me. I like to watch their videos.

It’s just recently they been talking allot and it’s starting to get boring. Cut to the point. Zoom in and show us the difference and what is better and be done with it . I don’t need to know how ray tracing work to enjoy my game. I need to know what to best settings available. It’s not really complicated

I don’t care if a cast member is gay or whatever . As long as they keep it for themselves and respect other people I am fine with it. Go fuck a snake for all I care. Just don’t come and promote it and don’t give us your opinion about it

And for the most part. Aside from Alex not liking stellar blade character look .. I am fine !

I'm glad they're so critical of Sony skipping out on a disc drive while simultaneously pricing it like a motherfucker. John makes a great point about how overpriced Playstation's digital games are. How huge the price gap can be between physical and digital. And people need to realize this isn't like PC where a multiple digital store fronts exist that compete on the same platform. There is no digital competition on consoles. It's all by the same seller. And Sony skipping out on disc drive absolutely knew what insane profit margins they could reap selling more games digitally instead.

The general sentiment of PS5 Pro seems to be fairly negative on that talk session. Overpriced, superfluous and cynical.

Also people who shit on John are so dumb. The guy loves video games. And almost everything he says is generally well motivated and comes from a place of loving video games.

Nothing against him but he and DF in general are rarely critical. Even when there are obvious flaws, they sweep them under the rug.

The analysis Alex does on the pc side is by far the best of the entire crew. Guy never excuses shit ports or gaslights the audience by excusing a shit performance mode in a game because the quality mode is perfectly "smooth" at 30fps.

I thought Alex is ?

There were some circulated pics around the net of him modelling and and .. I dunno kinda gay ?
He comes of as such but he never addressed it. Not that he has to, its his private business.
I personaly dont think he is or if he is he might be bi.
I had a good friend from cologne who was into the bondage scene and did some of those fetish things and pics alex has of himself on the net but he wasnt gay not even bi.

At best he comes over as an agreeable simp lol.

TO be frank the more i see of him he strikes me as this uber pc nerd who just cant get behind console gaming but is forced to cover them for comparisons and you can tell he hates it.

Df should expend into sub categories.
Have a team for console analysis and have a team for pc analisys of given game for best settings and such as he already does.
Then you can have once in a while a colaboration between the 2.

But we have seen the sales charts for consoles and games. Over 80% of their games are sold in digital form, and this is despite the Disc drive PS5 having a higher percentage of consoles sold. So its not like they are forcing people to buy digital, physical is always an option, but this generation of gamers are overwhelming choosing convenience over value. So price really isnt the issue. If they included a disc drive, the data says over 80% of gamers wouldnt even use it, plus it would raise the price to $800. Buying a disc drive is cheaper than buying a 2TB SSD, so the part they didnt include is less expensive for the consumer to upgrade. Playstation doesnt set the price of 3rd party games, publishers do.

If a new game releases at Gamestop for $49.99, it will be the same on PSN. More and more 3rd party publishers are choosing to release digital games only because it s cuts down cost on production. How is that Sony fault? They get even less percentage cut because its not on blueray.

Pc gamers really shouldnt be comparing their situation to consoles. Pc games arent even sold in physical form anymore, so their only option is digital. Pc gamers havent cared about disc drives since the early 2000s, and they also dont care if one storefront has a monopoly on PC games sales. They wont even acknowledge a games exist if its only sold on other storefronts like Epic, who are basically giving away games for free. Even with digital storefront options PC gamers are choosing to be tribal to one company. "If its not on Steam, then it doesnt exist"? A bit hypercritical for any of them to think they can complain about disc drives, or where console gamers spend their money. Physical games still exist for Playstation gamers, but the data says they prefer digital. So its not hard to see why Sony didnt include a disc drive. They probably imagined that the hardcore audience buying the Pro would share the same sentiment as PC gamers who dont care about disc as well.

Those statistics you rely on are often heavily skewed by DLC, F2P digital-only games and microtransactions. For full-fledged retail games, the ratio is absolutely not that skewed towards digital. The general idea is that it's about 50/50. And a cheap ass blu-ray driver would not increase the price by 100 fricking dollars. That shit is one of the cheapest components in a modern console.

Also, for your last paragraph, the key word here is "chooses". People have a choice and they often choose Steam (even though LoL launcher and so on are also huge on PC). There is no choice on consoles once you remove the option to go physical. All you're left with is one storefront. So you have an absolute monopoly whether you like it or not.

Literally the best one, producing S-Tier content. Some 2 hours long Retro videos are literal masterpieces.
Not aware of a single person who has comparable culture on gaming history.
John is a good guy. Though he struggles with some anxiety and other health issues which might make him look off.

He does great work and is mostly fair.

Must be hard to please all sides at all times.

So true, and the percentages are distorted further by games being discounted and sold outside of the launch window, where like PS3 Demon's Souls was once £1.99.

Those game sales don't pay the bills for those AAA games because the money to sustain the business model comes largely from the launch sales, and when just looking at the first few months of sales, that's where physical is bigger or equal to digital.

Awful discussion all around with some terrible talking points from Shill Up.

It's funny how they keep pointing out "negatives" of the PS5 Pro being Price and Lack of a Disc drive, meanwhile the hosts admit to owning a 4090 PC and downloading everything off Steam. What a completely disingenuous argument to compare a multi-thousand dollar PC set-up to a PS5 Pro, as if the "sting" of $699 makes the prospect of $2,000+ any better.

These influencer shill types really need to do a better job not projecting their tastes onto others. Not everyone wants a PC, and for reasons that go well beyond the mere cost. It's not as convenient. We don't do this for a living. We prefer a curated and optimized experience. Guess what? If you're the type of person that invests so heavily "going all in on PC" as Shill Up said - well it's not exactly rocket science that the PS5 Pro MAY NOT BE FOR YOU.

And it's laughable that these rich influencer types are even complaining about the price. As if $700 is some massive overpay despite their 4090 rigs costing multiples more than that. And then you get into his complete ignorance of deals on the PSN store, which are set by third parties themselves and tend to be similar across digital stores.

Really a complete lack of self awareness all around with this panel discussion. Can you at least get someone who plays on consoles to discuss this instead?

The problem that the console manufacturers might face moving forward is that the more they put their games on PC, the more people are likely to invest in PC equipment in the future. You're absolutely right to say its disingenuous to compare a $700 console to a $2000 PC rig, but if you say to a consumer market that your games will be on the platform that plays those games the best (PC), more and more of that consumer market over time will save up for that more expensive PC hardware. And your console market will continue to shrink. Especially if it becomes easier and easier to hook a PC up to a TV, and replicate console experience.

Maybe for a small slice of the market, but the people with means to game on a gaming rig significantly more powerful than a console are niche.

With someone that has a more modest budget allocated to gaming, consoles are the obvious choice and that's not changing.

The price of the Ps6 is going to be interesting. There will be a cross-over point that could kill the Playstation, but we'll have to see if it ever reaches it. One thing's for sure, if Sony continue with their current greedy ways, and a decent PC rig becomes more viable at a lower price because games aren't really pushing the hardware enough anymore...

The crossover point doesn't change. Prices have gone up across the board, and even moreso on the PC side as of late.

PS6 will not be more than $699. Of course we need to adjust for inflation in 4 years too. PS5 Pro has a margin, while PS5 does not have much of one.

this is one reason why they shouldnt put their games on PC. They're just devaluing their own brand and platform and forcing these sorts of tedious discussions.

We didn't have them when PS4 Pro came out.

If ps5 pro is $700 with no drive and stand, ps6 will be the same boat, but likely cost more due to inflation. PS6 is probably a 2027 system. It’ll probably $800.

I just have this sour taste in my mouth after spending a lot on this thing and the first playstation published and co-developed game (LEGO Horizon Adventures) releases a week later and has no pro support. At some point it's like I'm tired of fucking waiting on patches to drop, they should have pushed the release to march until more developers could add their support at launch, anything beyond is unacceptable imo moving fwd.
