Fafalada said:You make it sound like the plastic adds 300$ to the cost of PS3. You do realize that majority of cost-revisions are going to be internal - whether or not there's a slimdown.
ShinoguTakeruKoeru said:PS2 was never rebranded into PSTwo. They just released it.

Of course - he just made it sound like the form-revision was the only thing that would make a difference though.spwolf said:13 million to be shipped 2009 year alone.... few bucks = $100 million savings. Every cent matters.
They don't - and I'm not aware of prototypes ever getting leaked either, even though there's lots of them evaluated over time (for instance PS2 with XMB, or PSP with internal memory both existed at least a year before PS3 was even released).gofreak said:Don't think they'd be making retail boxes for a prototype.
AndyD said:I will re ask here:
What do you think will change if this is real?
- i would like to see some rear USBs.
- HDMI-CEC
- HDMI chip updated to bitstream new audio formats.
- IR chip.
- wireless N.
neojubei said:I would love that.
spwolf said:and you would see almost no difference in PSN download speeds... such a sham wireless n.
Wireless G is well over the average person's connection speed, but wireless N would help considerably for media streaming and network range.spwolf said:and you would see almost no difference in PSN download speeds... such a sham wireless n.

ShinoguTakeruKoeru said:The only people who called it PSTwo were either uninformed or liked the PSOne moniker and hoped Sony would do something similar for PS2. Which they never did.
Oh hey, the word 'two' was on there. But that's it.
Machado said:It'd need God of war 3 to be fixed actually...
2 Minutes Turkish said:No you're right.
The Two was in the bottom right corner.
Sorry about that one. Been a long time since I had the PS2 out. I'm a dick.
neojubei said:Yea but that's next year, however I am sure there will be a GoWIII bundle.
If this is true and comes out in September it will probably be released in Japan first then probably March of next year in the states.
I'd definitely buy another PS3 if this news is true.
Machado said:about that...has sony denied this already???
i know they said they knew nothing about it but...any news about it?
:lolneojubei said:I was going to call you out on your post but someone beat me to it. Up to now I believe the news of a slim PS3.

On that note though, I still think this particular Slim PS3 is fake.
Bearillusion said:$399 for the new model is my prediction with the current model dropping to $299. Then later in the year or early next year they can drop it to $299.
Nice, but it should be 120GB!Truespeed said:Make it happen, Sony.
Well the build quality of the two are vastly different in terms of parts and the 360 has heating problems as is. Personally I think the current PS3 model was rushed* to counter MS as it is pretty crowded, the original 20 and 60 moreso.Poimandres said:Actually, I'm a little surprised there haven't been any murmurs of a "slim" 360.
Surely the same benefits that Sony stand to reap from a redesigned PS3 (reduced cost, fresh public awareness etc) would apply to Microsoft as well?
Perhaps the hardware debacle has scared them away from making any major design changes...

That is a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE increase.

If you say so, Kutaragi-San.Machado said:I think that a BC model at 399 would sell better than a 299 non BC

1. Has Sony even turned a profit on the PS3, hardware-wise, yet?
2. If not, and if the 45nm RSX and Cell chip (is it going to be on the same chip?) is supposed to make the PS3 cheaper to manufacture (therefore, more profit), wouldn't you think Sony would rest on the extra profits for a little while before jumping with a new design? Especially with how much they've already lost, plus their less then favorable position amongst Microsoft and Nintendo.
Smart business would tell Sony to let the new chips turn a little more profit for them before redesigning the PS3. However, there's another side. Some people (me included) would find the new, redesign PS3 attractive, and buy it. Redesign = more people buying it = recover financially?

One of these things is important. One is not. Any guesses which?leroidys said:Will buy if true. The price ($300) isn't as much of an issue, but the ps3 is just too damn big and glossy for my taste. I don't care that much about having the current systems, but the amount of awesome PS3 and PSN games is reaching critical mass for me.

Is this a sign that PS2 + PS1 games will get a BIG push on PSN this year? FINALLY?

That's the ONLY way I see them making that kind of loot YoY on PSN. I mean, library wise they're probably going to release a similar number of PSN games and DLC...the only way to greatly increase sales is to put their catalog up on the store.
Dizzan said:Announce this and a $100 pricedrop at E3 Sony. Do it.
Japan will eat this up if true.
That's awesome but I don't think it would say, "Now with Dualshock 3" as that's no longer new. Sorry to be picky!Truespeed said:Make it happen, Sony.
