Crap! I thought a commercial said it started at 9pm. Oh well, good thing I told my VCR to start recording at 8 just in case. I'll just not read the entirety of this thread until after I watch the tape.

I liked the EP.

Some bits I liked:
-The ending was cool, gonna be interesting on how he responds on how he knows that
-Lana bed/shower scene was big wow :)
-Lois Lane is hotttt
-the flying scene was damn impressive, just imagine how the movie is gonna be

Things I dont like:
-Just like every premiere of Smallville it belittles the finale from the previous season sadly
-Kal el BARELY lasted, I wanted a couple eps from that.. that completley sucked.

Kristen naked in the bed = :D

I thought the ep was good. My only fear is that they're going to focus too much on a love triangle between Clark, Lois, and Lana this season.

Pretty typical lame Smallville overall, I don't know why I watch this show.

Oh well, at least Lex is still freaking cool, though he keeps on getting screwed over. Cool characters only last so long if the story around them doesn't really evolve.

Ugh, I was expecting to have the first few episodes of this season start out weak and then have it dissolve into the mediocre. Nice to see they've switched things up by starting out crappy.

- If this were another show, I'd want to give the "possessed Lana" storyline the benefit of the doubt, but I'm sure they'd just screw it up.

- So basically Lex needs to stay away from booze and airplanes. He's had drinks drugged THREE times now, has been in one plane crash, and had a pretty hairy situation on another.

- I could live with the whole cave thing from the previous seasons. It was a known quantity, and it had become part of the plot. Now we've got three artifacts scattered around the world that will bestow ultimate knowledge, blah blah blah. And black kryptonite? I have no idea if it was in the comic or not, but as far as the show goes, it looked like a big ol' hunk of deus ex machina to me. I love how they portrayed it as "a mother's love", when all she did was hit him with a rock. I also gotta wonder if they're going to have Kal-El be like his evil side or something.

- My memory may be a little fuzzy on the two previous episodes that Dr Swan was in, but wasn't it just stated that he just worked at some university? Was this thing that his assistant mentioned (The Project, I think it was called) ever even brought up before? Either way, it sounds a whole lot like other "The" groups we've had in shows before, like The Center, from Pretender, and The Intiative, from Buffy. One has to wonder if Swan's group is going to be performing a similar role on the show.

weak episode, sexed up though (naked Welling and Kreuk! kinda....)

It was too hurried and resolved! Bah! But Kal el flying was pretty excellent; and what exactly is black kryptonite?

Margot Kidder -- do her lips still work, is she really that old? Something seemed off about her speaking parts.

I think it has something to do with her false teeth (I don't think she has any front teeth.) She's also supposedly has a few screws loose...

You people are too picky. The episode was good, even though, there's like a million different things going on, and the show probably should have been split into two episodes to get more in depth, and let things draw a bit more. But to me, Smallville is a TV version of the Batman "Hush" storyline. Don't think too much into it, and just enjoy what's there.

What program do you use to photoshop a picture?
can someone tell me what happened in the beginning of the episode and why lois has a tattoo on her back?

The start of the ep had Clark crash down from the sky, sort of like a meteor... Lois finds him naked and takes him to the hospital.

And Lana had the tatoo, we dont know why yet... but from the looks of it they're just adding a storyline to make her character not be useless. :)

she found some superman seal thingie and it started going crazy on her.

i find it very hilarious that the marking is on the small of her back. How lame is that?

anyway, im pissed that chloe is still alive and clark cant fly.

Yeah I know that, but we dont know what it means or anything of that sort. Im more pissed that Lois is only in 13 eps,she looks like shes gonna be a really fun character. I like Chloe so I dont mind the fact that shes alive. Even though I dont see how they're gonna do it since she blew up last season... meh.

And the writers have always said Clark will never fly in Smallville :(

So was Clark really flying in this episode?

That's funny if true, because about a week ago, I saw this show where they were interview cast & crew (probably somewhere during season 2 or 3). They joking said the show was a "no fly zone" where if you ever saw Clark fly then they'd offical completely run out of ideas...

I quite liked it, as long as i dont think along the lines of "but its superman..what the fuck are they doing to superman" i think i will enjoy this season

I thought it was good...but I agree things could have been explained a bit more.

I've read a few spoilers about the upcoming season. Some specific stuff that of course I won't mention, and some general stuff about the direction the series is heading towards. It's not really spoileriffic, but I'll put in spoiler tags anyways.

The producers felt the series got too dark in Season 3 and they want to appeal to the younger audience and make it a bit like earlier seasons.

Some of the specific stuff sounds really cool, and I think this season has the potential to get a lot more attention.

Lana lying on the Bed and Shower were the highlight of the episode.

The flying was great, shame we didnt get to see what Dural did to clark for 3 months.

I have watched bits and pieces of the show over the seasons... I have never sat down for a full episode...

I might watch this season, I really don't watch anything these days... I just flick around.

But I assumed that Kal-El gave Lana some super-speed loving and she enjoyed it... but basically she might have been raped by Kal-El if she doesn't remember it... unless he did some time-travel thing and banged her for weeks and at the end gave her the magic kiss that makes her forget.

Anyways... I don't know what is going on... is Kal-El real-dad evil? Or is he testing him to see if he will be a good person? I might have to buy the DVD's or wait for re-runs.

Howard Stern said theres no such thing as black kryptonite. Did they just make up a kryptonite?

I missed about the last 5 eps of the previous season. I've no reference going into this one. Someone care to sum up?

In all honesty, they should just rename the show to 'Gettin' Krazy With Kryptonite!'. Almost every episode, bad guy/gal, or deus ex machina somehow revolves around or is impacted by the kryptonite meteor fragments that have managed to find theirselves into just about everything in Smallville, short of bowls of cereal...although I'm sure we'll get an episode involving that this season. Intelligent writing has never really been the show's strong suit, although I am kind of liking the alternative 'dark' Kae-El take. We've all seen the original Superman mythos ad naseum...it's nice to mix it up a little.

lol

BTW, I didn't really follow Smallville last year. What happened to Ross? Obviously he's gone from the regular cast now, but what happened to his character? Not that they ever really used him for anything anyway.

His folks got a divorce and he moved with his mom...something along those lines. They gave him an incredibly crappy 'Fast & The Furious'-type episode before giving him the boot. And yes, kryptonite was involved in making the cars go faster. I shit you not.

Wow, I really liked this premiere, story seems like it will be interesting, plus it had plenty of eye candy for all! Clark, Lana, Lois and Lana's boyfriend (He was in Dark Angel, right?)

I'm guessing with Chloe some kryptonite type thing happened with the explosion and she'll come back mutated in some way and try to get revenge on you know who.

A corrupt FBI agent ended up kidnapping Pete because he had a hunch that something was up with Clark, and Pete might know about it. Pete realized that because he was close to Clark and knew his secret, his life would be in danger constantly, so he moved out of Smallville.

Of course, ever since he learned Clark's secret, he pretty much faded into the background of the show anyway, so it wasn't that big of a loss.

Lana's boyfriend was also on Dawson's Creek for awhile.
