7.5

"Those who make it to the end might be disappointed to learn that they'll have to play the upcoming Digital Devil Saga 2 to find out how the story turns out. On the bright side, though, if you make it that far -- which is to say, if you can get past the series' trademark pitfall tiles, warp walls, and noncontiguous hallways that await in the final dungeon -- then you might as well try a little Nocturne while you wait for the sequel. By then, you'll be ready for anything."

man, i hate games without a good ending! psi ops from midway did the same shit!

Hmm. As a relatively new PS2 owner, I never heard much about Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga, but after reading this review and a few others, I may have to grab them both. The story isn't of much importance to me, but the mechanics seem interesting.

Different when you know the game is a part of a series. Seriously, bitching that .hack or DDS have cliffhanger endings is STUPID. Of course there isn't going to be closure.

Having said that, I haven't read Nich's review so I won't comment on it. The above is more of a general statement.

If DDS was from a more-established publisher (say, Square), I might be a little upset, but I generally don't mind throwing Atlus USA a couple extra bucks.
