I spoke to an Amazon rep about my order and they said it was confirmed and I'd get it on release date but the reason they took the page down is because it's not available now but still, it's confirmed and it's good to go.

So if you got that GameTrust Amazon preorder it was legit. We good.

Knowing Nintendo, it's better to assume today was the easiest day to acquire one.

If online is your only option, then yeah, your other opportunities may not be any better than today. Everybody knew they were going up at 1PM ET. Every fan and scalper in NA was laser-focused today. This is the world we live in with scalper-bots and eBay. But I feel like in-store, brick-and-mortar will give people who are willing to try more opportunity than last year. I just wouldn't give up on the first day.

There is a high probability it is using the same hardware as the nes classic so they seriously had a YEAR they could have been producing them and not some shit like this where scalpers get 85% of them.

I was talking to my mother about the whole fiasco today with preorder and games. She told me that she thought pre ordering was where you put your name down to buy the system so the manufacturer knows how many to make and a little extra for store shelves. She couldn't understand why they limit preorders, especially knowing how many people want these things.
