As I said to my SO, "I fell in love with the Mini SNES right out of the box, but after hacking it, I'm straight going to ask it to marry me".
Also, revisiting the games made me realize how shockingly and wildly varied in quality many of them are, whereas my memories of some of them are less extreme (one would think the opposite would be true! So to speak, I remember many games as being a 7 where they're more like 4's, and I remember many games as 8s when they're straight 10s's. Case in point: the Star Wars games are beautiful, but, frankly, pretty bad in terms of gameplay: continuous cheap shots, extremely spotty controls and collisions, and so on (even back then I liked the NES trilogy better, I should revisit it too). For the opposite example, I started replaying Demon's Crest yesterday and it's just so. fucking. good. Such an amazing game in all respects, completely ahead of its time with its secret routes and endings.
