Man, whats going on with blockbuster these days? I swear everytime I go into one the game selection gets crappier. Well last saturday, me and Grey Fox (fellow GA member) went into his local blockbuster looking for some good multiplayer games to pick up. Needless to say, as soon as we entered the video game section, I was baffled to the point of being speechless when presented with this:

only to look over to see this:

Whats even more idiotic is that we asked about Metroid Prime 2 @ the checkout desk because sometimes they have more copies of the game behind the counter than they do on display and they indeed only had 1 copy and it was out. Any of you guys have any similar craptastic rental experiences??

What really sucks about GameCrazy is their demo kiosks. They use the world's worst LCD screens - horribly washed-out colors, and they can only display games at 30fps.

Face it... GameCube is dead. At the beginning of this Gen, Xbox and GC sections were equal. Now PS2 has 2 racks, Xbox 1 and 3/4 rack, and GC has the 1/4 section left over.

xbox games are the highest-rented games right now, more than likely for the simple fact that many people i know who have an xbox, do nothing but rent games for the simple purpose of ripping a copy of the game. gamecube, no ripping, less rental. simple.

Well, out of the very small population of those renting GC games, the majority are parents with no real idea of what is a quality title or not. Their just looking for a distraction for little Jimmy while they watch BLOODSEX RIDGE III. So, stores stock childish schlock which for the most part fits the demographic. The only people who really complain are those annoying teens with high voices who are usually messing up the anime section.

Not sure how they do it now, but back in the day, they kept all the games in a drawer, so you had to bring the empty box and they'd fish out the game. Problem was, things were so disorganized that it would take literally 20 minutes to find anything. I stopped going cuz I hated being the nerd that held up the line.

I know of a nearby rogers video that still has sega saturn and dreamcast games for rent.
(It's taking up valuable shelf space)

It takes them forever to get new games, and their selection is poor.

Shelf layouts are often dictated by corporate.

There's a good chance that Tak's publisher paid for that shelf space.

Wait, I could give a flying fuck if GCN's aren't teh "socially accepted", the fact remains that MP2 is 300x better than Tak2. Why does every topic here turn into "OMG MY KONSOUL SELZ BETTAR THAN URZ! UR D00M3D!"?? That crap is getting old. Anyway, I didn't know game companies could buy shelf space @ blockbuster. I always thought it was some idiot store/district manager that ordered a certain number of copies for various store. Hell, no wonder driv3r had a whole section to its self.

Heh,yeah I hate my blockbuster. What's even more sad is they have 5 copies for tak2 for ps2,and only one onimusha 3 that is always out. : (

It's not just Blockbuster or video stores. This kind of thing goes on at all retail outlets.

It's a way of position a product to look like there is demand, even though there may be none.

Actually neither of them have any part in ordering. Which sucks btw. My DL's a bitch anyways. We got in a arguement over expanding the retail xbox section for more controllers or the gamecube section (already half the size and about to explode with games) yet the fucker still wants a whole extra bay for about 10 overstock controllers

And that makes up what, 1% of the store's rental base?
