So, uh, it seems Batman got his ass kicked... by Superman.

Batman had super powers?

Well, he's kind of a deus ex machina. When a normal human can take out every super powered character in the DCU because he has "prep time", something is wrong.

Batman gets his ass handed to him by
Hal Jordan in this week's Green Lantern: Rebirth
. Worth checking out.

No way man. I don't believe it. I mean, this one time, I saw Batman beat up these thugs and a dog. No way Superman can handle that.

As someone who just recently got into the wonderful world of comics in the past year or so, I only have a few graphic novels under my belt, and some random new comics here and there. So, could someone list some of the examples of Batman defeating super heroes? The one I've read, and commonly see cited, is Batman beating Superman in Dark Knight Returns, and that hardly counts -- aside from it being a Batman story existing outside of continuity, Superman was depicted as being such a tool in that that he had to lose, and even then Batman was given every advantage possible. I've also seen his files being used against the Justice League in Tower of Babel, but in that scenario, he didn't carry out the attacks, and most of those plans were kind of lame. So, I would appreciate some ridiculous examples of Batman beating super powered characters.

Here lately, Batman has been depicted as beatable. In Identiy Crisis
it reveals him being mind wiped in the past by the Justice League
, and there's also the example that nomoment mentioned.

Batman ownz0rz Supes in the HUSH storyline. Though it may not be a true fight since
Superman is battling Poison Ivy's mind control which is making him fight Batman

There are a few instances of Batman pwning some DC characters in the Batman/Superman comic.

Dark Knight Strikes Again? That doesn't really count since it doesn't exist in continuity.

Basically, I've always been a big Batman fan, if mainly for the Animated Series. Thus, I generally play the "Batman kicks ass" card anytime anyone says anything bad about him. However, as of late, I've seen him being something of a dick -- mainly in Countdown to Infinite Crisis (although Martain Manhunter was far worse in that one) and Green Lantern Rebirth. So I wouldn't mind seeing some examples from the detractors of why people think he's ridiculously overpowered despite having no super powers. Stuff like the ones Hamburglar mentioned.

That's "prep time" Batman, everyone else was caught off guard, and he wasn't even the one doing anything. This is Superman going after Batman (for unknown reasons), and Batman getting humiliated and flat-out OWN3D. Hard.

It proves Batman's a tool and a fool. A tool for not relying on teamwork and honesty (not like the didn't survive the cases where a teammate went rogue or was duplicated), instead of plans easily exploitable by anyone- powered or not- with some resources. And a fool for spending more time on those plans than making said plans secure. Further a fool for such ridiculous plans to begin with:

According to one resource: Hestia, goddess of the hearth, granted Diana sisterhood with fire. This power makes Diana the physical embodiment of truth. It is almost impossible to lie to her. With this truth power, Diana can see through mirages, illusions and other forms of deception (such as shape shifting), and is immune to telepathic attacks. For references check out Wonder Woman #25, 26, 55, 183, and 204

This means his plan against Diana shouldn't have worked.

Against Flash, his plan boiled down to someone having the ability to lodge a special bullet in Flash's spine. Good luck with that. If people could hit Flash in the spine with bullets to begin with, you wouldn't need any vibrational seizure-causing technobabble to put him down. It's like saying Batman's years of planning came down to duct taping Flash's legs together as he sat still and allowed it.

Against Superman, his brilliant idea was to create a material that made Superman MORE powerful and didn't even limit Supes from using his powers with surgical accuracy (to remove said vibrating bullet above).

Not to mention the other ridiculous plans... most borderline Dr. Evil in brilliance, but getting a handwave at working since it was Bats that came up with it.

DKR was an example of Batman "beating up" a person playing along with him. If Superman wanted Bats dead, he would have drilled him with his heat vision from space, rather than spelling out "WHERE?" If Superman really wanted Bruce turned over to the authorities, he would have speed blitz Bats and unplugged him from his lamp-post before Bats could blink... hurt himself or others. Instead, what we see is Clark winking at Robin and going through the motions to help Bruce out... smiling over his grave, instead of furiously digging the sucker out.

Hush was an example of Batman's insanity. With a dozen other, better, safer, and more effective ways of delaying Superman... his decision is to break his hand on Clark's face and risk getting jellied, frozen, or fried- relying only on Superman's character to hold back. After Batman "kicked Superman's ass" he comes crawling out of the sewers wounded... Superman follows THROUGH the street, smashing through all that, and lifts a car effortlessly with one hand to drop on Batman... then speedily rescues Lois in a blink... not exactly acting like a guy who just got his ass kicked.

Yeah, Hush was especially ridiculous. I mean a Kryptonite ring, WOW! Just sneeze and blow that bitch into the sun. I like Batman , but come on.

You can't blame Morrison for anything. Especially his New X-Men. Morrison is God.

Only two people ever involved with Marvel are allowed to be referred to as a God. Stan Lee and Frank Miller. Claremont is a lesser god. The rest aren't.

I like batman, mostly, but I think Batman should get his ass kicked by every single character in the DC universe (and a couple of Marvel's, starting with Spider-Man) for about a year straight just to balance the cosmic scales against all the bullshit "prep" victory's Bats has had. And to piss off all the annoying Batman fanboys who think that Batman would kick Spider-Mans ass 19 times out of 20 "as long as he could prepare for it". Fuck I hate that noise. :lol

Whats the deal with everyones beef with batman? Should Superman have his super strength taken away? Green Lantern's ring? Batman may not be a super being but his intelligence and martial arts are a literary device that make him interesting and gives him his "power". Just go with it!

Actually this year has been quite bad for Batman thus far, hah. I think it's leaning towards a switch of allegiances or at least a breaking of bonds with the JL.

The Mindwipe, Todd being back(for unknown reasons thus far), Superman kicking his keister, Hal knocking him the FUCK out, OMAC and the like.

Not the Year of the Bat so far.

batman has victimized people and has been a victim this year.
but i think he's gone too far with this project OMAC thing.
because of him beetle's dead. it's about time batman started acting like a human being. i'm sorry he got mind-wiped (it was the wrong thing to do to him) but he cant hold a grudge forever (that is if he knows about the mind-wipe in the first place, i dont Think he does.) but it doesnt matter cause in the end... dc wins! DC WINS!! DC WINS!!! :D

He knows.

Tell me if you agree with this...

Without prep time or the the element of surprise, and with only his normal everyday crimefighting gear (batarangs, stun/gas grenades, explosives, gas mask, comm gear, Batmobile, etc.), his keen intellect and wealth of knowledge, and the city of Gotham at his disposal, could Batman defeat these DC heroes in battle?
