. A far deeper character than Master Chief, Bungie's second protagonist adds more to the story than a simple mono-directional conflict.
Halo 2 is Bungie's proclaimation that the Halo-verse is not one simply centered on the Master Chief and the humans, but rather a galactic struggle across a handful of announced races. The cliffhanger ending is spectacular and sets the third game up very well. That there is no real closure in Halo 2 is far more of a progression in terms of the way stories in games are being told.
Halo 2 begins and ends the same, in medias res, this further's the feeling of Master Chief's story arc as just a small part of what makes up the Halo universe.
Multiplayer is spectacular.
