I'm not an expert in this field, but for a long time it seemed to me that these types of games have the greatest chance among a younger audience who grew up watching streamers and don't necessarily wear nostalgia glasses like we do.
It's hard for me to even say what really makes these types of games successful, so i may be wrong.
I think SOCOM would be successful because other military shooters have become total clown shows...and MAG. MAG was ahead of its time.
Which Playstation studio with the required expertise do you think should develop a new Socom, MAG or Warhawk?Socom killzone mag warhawk
Games ripe for gaas return yet they keep tryna force these garbage overwatch clones on to us smh
Helldivers II is incredible and sold shit loads of copies. One of the most successful games in the last few years.
It's all failures after failures from Playstation here
Are people back to calling this place Sony echo chamber? I swear, this place just can't win.How are the other 12 Gaas games looking?
Here in #SonyGAF?

I'm not sure why this thread is pinned. Did I do it? I'm day drinking for the first time in my 40+ year old life, lol.
Are we all supposed to laugh at the OP?

I hope I'm not on that list. I look at this place as fun. I hope to one day post as much as I used to. Some take this hobby way too seriously. It's fun, it's stupid and it's not that big of a deal. Maybe we see things differently as family men.Yes, you are so drunk that you developed mod powers and pinned the thread.
by the way.....I've got the list of posters that annoy me...eh....I'll send you a DM
Did they ever stop?
Yes, they would, also throw in Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Wipeout, Motorstorm, Socom, Colony Wars, Medieval, Syphon Filter, Dark Cloud, Resistance, Killzone, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Bloodborne, Jak, Wild Arms, L of dragoon, etc...They can have a much better portfolio if they used their older ips like Socom, Killzone etc.
well the longer they wait people won't remember. Us older gamers (in my 40s who's been gaming since the start) will be in retirement in 20 or so years, or dead.People say that, but i wonder if they would actually buy it.
I think Sony has algorithms and charts and venn diagrams to show 0% of people want this series to come back. We here at GAF aren't sent the surveys. Only the Fortnite players.Yes, they would, also throw in Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Wipeout, Motorstorm, Socom, Colony Wars, Medieval, Syphon Filter, Dark Cloud, Resistance, Killzone, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Bloodborne, Jak, Wild Arms, L of dragoon, etc...
They are sitting on a gold mine in properties but they won't even put out remasters of classics or straight ports.
They don't want to cater to their traditional base. Sadly.

Something happened midway through ps4 gen and Sony changed completely. To be fair it wasn't just them it was across the industry. F2P, woke shit, censorship, selling off Japan, big ole middle finger to their traditional market to curry favor with the new "modern audience". I want to blame Jim Ryan but I know Layden was defending all this shit on twitter recently, so I think they are both to blame. Maybe it was when Andrew house left the tables turned for the worse? They could've had something like Helldivers II + Socom + Driveclub 2 + Warhawk + an FPS.
Nice variety, stay focused, measured, not get greedy.
I consider the PS4 gen to be a rising tide that could have lifted many ships, with good execution and marketing I feel these other properties could've taken off and be solid titles and income earners.
Buying Bungie, blowing hundreds of millions on chasing >5yr old trends and trying to convert most of your single player studios into partial-live service studios was definitely not the way to go.
I got pinned bro I got pinnedWhy is this thread stickied? Genuinely curious.
I am under oath I can't lieThread title is a little aggressive. Please change to "not doing so well but could be doing great in the future." Thank you.
I don't get the continued fascination on this forum with Killzone and Resistance but SOCOM has HUGE potential in 2025.
Gaming itself abandoned traditional gamingI hope they all fail. I hate to say it, but they abandoned traditional gaming.
Sony always go for mass market. And those "traditional gamers" by understanding of forums dwellers are just old-timers who deny changing reality.Sony needs to be taught a hard lesson. Don't fuck over your longtime system owners, and traditional gamers by ignoring the old core audience to get a new "modern audience"
They should of sprinkled in a few gaas titles to appease the tweens and made mostly what they are good at.
Many from WoW crowd still play live service titles even in 30+ age. It'll be much, much worse for Fortnite crowd as there are much more of them and they are not a minority anymore.Yeah young kids play a ton of f2p games, that is because they are in school, they are cheap and their freinds do. After a few years they will get a job, continue on with life and have more responsiblities. These gas games will take too much time and they will want some quality. I say this as I have a gen z step son that went through the whole trend of playing roblox, garys mod, fortnite, seige, cod and then went back to basics with God of war, mad max, and other single player games. I am sure this is a phase period for teens, or at least I hope.
14-24 is the main gaas target, because it's a band that contains most players and they are the most active ones. They could've had something like Helldivers II + Socom + Driveclub 2 + Warhawk + an FPS.

We're bend and bluepoint both also working on recently cancelled GAAS. Most of Sonys studios including their single player studios seemed to have been put on this crap for years, and it's all now dead, there's multiple first party studio that'll be pretty much a write off for the entire gen, it's all such a waste, and Sony don't really have that many studios. With Jade Raymond jumping ship and based on what we heard of Fairgames I don't think we will see that game releasing, which will join the ranks of Last of Us, Horizon MMO, London Studio Live Game, Spider-Man the Great Web and Destiny Project Payback which all got canned before release, those they managed to release are Concord and Helldivers 2 and while Concord is a smash hitHelldivers 2 is successful. Which leaves Marathon and that one doesn't looks so hot either, easily losing to a free to play game (ARC Raiders) and no one is that interested in it, so what is gonna happen now???

The reason Sony struggles with GaaS is because they forgot how to make multiplayer games. Back in the Ps3 era they constantly released good mp games. Ps4 era? Not so much? Ps5? Barely.
And this happened because they shifted their focus to story-heavy singleplayer games.
"GaaS is just a trend" is an old meme.I hope they all fail. I hate to say it, but they abandoned traditional gaming.

Regardless, old heads like me spend money. No product they don't get their cut. Make more single player games and stop trying to be "woke/politically correct" or whatever it's being called today. Just make good games you know your classic audience will love and hype. Money will follow.
Will they do this, not with Herman's Herman and Neil the Squeal Druckman in upper spots (i know druckman isn't a ceo but he has pull I am sure).
They need a return to roots moment. And the Sony fanboys on here and elsewhere need to stop applauding them like they can do no wrong. You want change you have to critize. Don't play yes men to "your team".
It is true though."GaaS is just a trend" is an old meme.
Even with success of Hell Divers 2 (which Sony probably didn't expect), their GAAS attempts have been shit.I edited the main post, now let's discuss the other stuff shall we?
