So what’s up with Americans and the police ?

I was lately on a bike cams binge and I see a lot of interactions with the police where the biker is polite, promptly shows documents and mostly is on their way - crazy from European perspective since here speeding = no discussion, you get the ticket. The concept of ‘I will let you off with a warning’ is almost non existent in Europe.

But then I watched a few Karen videos (male and female) and wtf is all that?

Police: Step out of the car
Random: You have no right to detain me
Police: ID please
Random: You have no right to demand my ID, also I’m not taking my hands out of my pocket

I also read American police officers are on average vastly undertrained compared to European counterparts - something like 30hrs vs. 1000hrs in Germany. Is this a known fact in the US? Why would you want to argue with A. The man B. The man that legally carries a gun or a taser everywhere?

The police have discretion on whether to cite a person. Basically be polite and friendly and you can get off with a warning (being a good looking woman helps with that)

In order to understand the problem with American policing you have to understand why anyone would want to be a police officer given the reality of what they do on a daily basis.

In reality, while they provide a service to society and are necessary, and while in general most are decent people, the vast majority are of average or below average intelligence, improperly trained, and often not the best kind of people you want legally authorized to carry a firearm and engage the public with the legal use of deadly force.

I’ve always respected police and been kind to them in my interactions. But I usually keep my distance because to be honest the cops I see these days coming out on the streets don’t look much different than the criminals.

You should search for "sovereign citizen" traffic stops on youtube OP.
A concept that probably only ever works on a police officer one time at the absolute most, and even that is probably rare.

Are there any cases of sovereign citizens actually being accepted? Outside of the people who are too green to deal with it.

With regards to the OP, American police have always had a reputation. The short answer is that you don’t fuck around with trigger happy people, whatever the situation. I definitely wouldn’t.

Maybe sometimes people should also ask "Whats wrong with the people confronted by police?" Everytime I see "police brutality" I see retarded people acting like the most stupid and/or aggressive person on earth and then they wonder when something goes wrong. Maybe USA has more a "how do I act properly when confronted by police - problem" instead of a "police - problem".
