It doesn't mean the 4K BR is not great, it's a fan project and she probably use this to improve skills and show what she can do.Why? WB did a 4K remaster and it's great.
watch the videos!? lolWhy?
New effects and it adds scenes from the 3 hour TV version
WB also released that version via Warner Archive.
And adding new effects isn't a "restoration".
Funny how people killed George Lucas for that, but it's fine for fan edits to do it in the name of "restoration".
You can't just enjoy things ?
Or if you don't just let it go ?
Whatever makes you feel better, I really don't have time to waist with you. It's a fan edit. It's not a restoration if they're making new effects. At least call it what it is.
Yeah fans do this all the time, I've seen movies Remastered in 4k even though it's already available in 4k and all they've done is used heavy NR to remove film grain and AI Upscale it and make it look waxy, yet they claim it's better then the Studio Remaster
Guess they are not the same people, mystery is solved !It's funny when people complain about DNR on official Blu-Rays but then do it themselves in a fan edit and think it's great.

The Superman Blu-Ray and 4K doesn't have DNR. In fact the 4K was praised for retaining the film grain. It's the best the movie has looked since it was in theaters as the 4K scan of the original negative brought out detail that wasn't seen on previous home video releases.
The movie was made in 1978 and filmed on 35MM with Panavision anamorphic. It's always supposed to have grain and removing that is wrong.
"Removing that is wrong" Wow you really feel like: "If it's not like I WANT IT TO BE, it's shit"
I like the idea of fixing shots in Superman because it hasn't aged well at all, but some of the artistic changes actually look worse (the shot of the plane and outside the Fortress of Solitude for example).
(As a side note funny how George Lucas was heavily criticized for adding special effects to his films yet so many fan edits of Star Wars have additional CGI shots added in making the film clearly worse EDIT: just saw the comment above hahah)
Bahahaha, those Yavin shots were literally the first thing I thought of.Yea they're all like "Fuck George Lucas and him raping my childhood with new effects!", and then "Look! I added more ships to the Battle of Yavin!!!!!"
Then get the 4K UHD disc. It was made from a new 4K scan of the original negative and it's gorgeous. To me, the ultimate "Restoration" is one that preserves a film as closely as possible to it's original theatrical release. Same color grading. Same visual effect "problems". I want the original think in as high res as possible, basically.
People dislike Lucas for that because those newest versions are the only way to buy the original trilogy now.WB also released that version via Warner Archive.

I agree. The only difference is the fan edits, while I might not have any interest in them personally, don't take the place of the original versions. I think it's fine that Lucas revisited the original trilogy. I just wish it was only one of several options people had.Except when they add a bunch of new effects to their "definitive edition" fan edit they aren't the original trilogy anymore and it defeats the whole purpose.
