Thick Thighs Save Lives
NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire
The Gundam fandom has always been hot on assembling, collecting and admiring plastic model kits, but what happens when a Gundam enthusiast is thwarted in pursuing their hobby by financial crisis? They turn to modding erotic games into Gundam simulators, apparently. One user recently broke the Japanese side of the internet with their detailed recreation of the GFAS-X1 Destroy Gundam in the adult romance simulator Koikatsu.
Post translation: With the hype for the Gundam SEED movie, new plastic model kits kept launching one after the other, but I was unable to afford them. Amid this misery, I had an idea. If I can’t afford to buy model kits, why not just make them…? From there, I opened up Koikatsu and remodeled the girl on the left into a magnificent Destroy Gundam.
Koikatsu!, localized as “Koikatsu Party” in the West, is a 3D customizable adult romance simulator developed by Illusion. Gameplay consists of creating female characters, setting up their personalities, interacting with them and performing NSFW acts. The game features an extensive character creator that allows detailed customization of the face, individual body parts, clothing etc.
The idea of Koikatsu is to create the “waifu” of your dreams and romance her. However, our Gundam enthusiast took the game’s customization to a whole new level by transforming his brunette anime girl into the GFAS-X1 Destroy Gundam, a transformable heavy assault mobile suit introduced in the “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny” anime. The user attaches screenshots of the Gundam in action, firing beams against various environments. These are all set up and taken entirely in Koikatsu’s photo mode.
Post translation: In Koikatsu, you don’t have to worry about parts of your model breaking, and you can mass produce to your heart’s content. You can even make variants, like a damaged Destroy Gundam. Koikatsu is no longer just an eroge.
The creator notes that aside from modded bones and an extended upper limit for parts, they achieved the look entirely from parts available in Koikatsu and its existing packs, which has made many people realize they’ve been underestimating the potential of the game.
On the other hand, given that Koikatsu allows you to set up your character’s sexual preferences and appetites and well…get down to business, the implications of Gundams being in there are quite horrifying.
