I remember thinking that the first three episodes of Sonic X (Japanese version) would have made the perfect Sonic live action movie adaptation. It was a great story.

I just did something that's possibly suuuuper embarrassing but I don't give a shit. I was very stressed this morning and really nervous and had to take my inhalers (honestly, that's why I was up so late watching Sonic X because I needed to take my mind off of things) because I had a clinical practical exam where I had to draw blood, centrifuge, analyze, come up with ways that the test can possibly be improved, think of better tests, troubleshoot equipment problems/fix things, etc. So nervous.

And then when it was done, I turned up the volume on the CD player in my car and started belting out Reach for the Stars and Escape from the City because I was happy. It felt sooooo gooooood.

I love Reach for the Stars. I don't care if it qualifies as questionable taste. It's a fun song.

*sees SAO talk*

My Little Monster is the best anime this season and everyone should watch it.
Is it a slice of life thing? Sometimes they don't mix well with me and sometimes they do.

I'm watching Psycho-Pass (after episode 2, I'm almost seriously considering dropping it because the main character is unlikeable), From the New World (which is excellent), JoJo, SAO, and Code:Breaker this season. I think I started watching SAO because kayos suggested it to me. I think I like watching it because the action scenes are sometimes drawn nicely. But the last few episodes weren't very good (still need to watch 16). The LN is waaaay better from what I've read of it.

Depends on who you ask, really. I get the impression some Japanese view speaking English the same way we view Americans that say things in Japanese to "be cool".
That's pretty much it. Like, foreign words sound exotic in many languages (that's why the name Tina from FF6 sounds quite exotic and different in Japan, for example), so they use them in an effort to be cool or sound sophisticated. Never mind that knowing several languages (particularly English (Standard English / the Queen's English), Spanish (generally Standard), French (commonly-taught on is Parisian in schools--even when I had to take French in elementary, high school and undergrad, I learned the Parisian variant, but I have bad Quebecois habits because that's the variety my bf speaks), a variety of Arabic (ex: Standard Arabic, Lebanese, Egyptian, etc), or a dialect of Chinese (generally Mandarin or Cantonese)) is very beneficial so they end up studying more than one language in school.

That's why we get wonky titles like Bravely Default. You can bravely default on your loans, but it sounds wrong in English semantics. Even if it doesn't sound like it means anything, or if it has wonky phonology in pronunciation, it'll still sound sophisticated and different. Some of it translates into borrowed terms, so it isn't too bad. I mean, a lot of the English language is made of a ton of loanwords (especially from French from during the Norman Conquest), so the more borrowing in other languages, the better.

I really wanna get into the series and add it to my collection, but the boxset's prices are insane. Upwards of 400 bucks.
As much as I'd love to buy them, they're really expensive. kayos90 has the first one and it looks reeeeaaally nice from the pics I've seen of it. Has some uncensored stuff too (the gratuitous violence).

You're going to start off dark and strong, and then suddenly become full of generic anime tropes?

Still enjoyed it for the most part, though.
Then I could become Batgirl / Superwoman just like Kirito.

Now that I think about it, that had some of my least fav. art during Ian's run, but I'm getting it anyways lol.

Shoujo romantic comedy. I'm not very familiar with shoujo but its the first one I've really liked. Character interactions are great and isn't the stereotypical "perfect guy falls in love with girl designed for reader/viewer to insert herself into".

Meanwhile my point of reference was Game Center CX, where the rare few times the producers have forced Arino to speak English, he visibly bristles at it.

Such as this lovely promo they cut for the American release of "Retro Game Master", where Arino literally shouts all of his english before eventually getting fed up and speaking the rest in Japanese in a normal tone of voice. He's gotten borderline angry a couple of other times for having to do it.

Yardley's gotten much better over the years. Picking up Herms as colorist made a big difference too.

I LOVE Yardley's art ever since the beginning of Ian's run, I have seen it improve but his early art was fine to me.

I don't mind any of the artists for Archie Sonic...well I don't like Jon 'WB' Grey's art but that's about it. Yardley has improved quite a bit.

I like WB's art. <_<

As far as official artists I don't like goes, there's Ron Lim, "Many Hands", and, from Sonic the Comic, Mick McMahon. Lim and McMahon are not bad artists, per se, just a terrible Sonic ones.

Come to think of it, when was the last time we got art by Yuji Uekawa? Rush Adventure?

I know quite a few tend to like it, especially people who frequented some of the boards he used to haunt but I've never been a fan. I can't honestly tell you why I don't care for it...it just isn't for me.

For the games, I think it was Rush Adventure, yeah; I think he still uploads new stuff on the Sonic Channel though, like the Sonic Tuxedo and Classic and Modern Sonic images.

They really need to bring him back. :/

EDIT: Oooooh, Papercraft Tornado, may have to try this:

On a separate note (Pertaining to Sonic), what is everyone's favorite tune from Sonic? For me it has to be from my most favorite stage of all time (Favorite level in a videogame period)...

Casino Night Zone 2 Player
Nothing else comes close.

Darn brother, I wish I had my Genesis so I could hook it up to the TV to listen. I'm gonna make him give it back to me soon.

That stage was a pain in the ass, the only amazing thing about it was its visual design and the music. But the level itself... so evil and FUCK those stupid badniks. I think I found the mantis enemy more annoying than the exploding starfish nowadays.

Which reminds me... WHY did they rehash this stage in Sonic 4? Who really asked for this?!

I know there's a few Ace Attorney fans in here, so I just wanted to say that the Community thread for that should be up later this week once I finish finalizing some format issues...and once I finish studying for an exam tomorrow.

Nice, looking forward to it!

I ain't even mad.

I feel the same way I do about picking my favorite level in the series: I can never decide on just one.

For the sake of discussion, Hydrocity Act 2, Lava Reef and Chrome Gadget are probably in my jumbled mess of a top 10.

Yea the mantis' blades had magical tracking properties like whoa. A Kaizo style version of that level would be the ninth circle of hell.

Sonic 4 Episode Metal was getting there. Even more annoying is that the level begins with you surrounded by a whole bunch of those stupid mantis enemies.

That does sound horrible...why did they get brought back? And to think I was gonna buy Episode 2 one day.

There was an actual Kaizo Mario moment in White Park Act 3. There was this room near the end of the stage that had 6 walruses. You have to swim past them quick before they freeze themselves into a giant chunk of ice that you cannot break... And they seriously have it so the ice blocks were big enough that you couldn't get out of the room. Your only choice was to wait to drown and then try the section over again. So evil :(

That's so Kaizo.

Favorite Sonic music is damn near impossible to answer:

Chemical Plant
Sonic 2 ending (Sweet Dreams)
Ice Cap
Sonic 3 Final Boss (possibly the best boss music in gaming history)
Sonic 3 credits

Of course, we have some of the so
good
it's good music, like:

City Escape
Live and Learn
I AIN'T GON LET IT GET TO ME I JUST GON CREEP

Some of the Sonic Generations mixes are incredible too. Modern Crisis City, Door into Summer,Sky Sanctuary... the list goes on.

Even my pure, irrational hatred of Unleashed and Colors can't bring me to call the music bad.
