If I had to buy two games it counts as two games.Just making sure, a lot of people like to say they're separate.
It reads like someone's brain broke in here.
This is a healthy brain.
This is a brain on Dimps.
Edit: And I think I'm done with Game Grumps. Jeopardy was cool. Their Sonic 2006 run is not as funny as I'd imagined it was going to be. And Goof Troop was just ok with some issues. I know why I'm not liking their stuff, but I'll keep my reasons to myself. Man, between this, the Power of Illusion thread, the Xillia 2 thread, and other stuff, I feel like I'm being too hard on a lot of things lately.
Edit: And I think I'm done with Game Grumps.
Haha, only just now? I never really understood the appeal of Game Grumps.
Haha, those among other reasons. Now that you bring it up, listening to them is extremely grating at times. I'll leave it at that and try to be polite about it. It certainly isn't something that everyone can easily watch like a good LP video (but even those aren't everyone's cup of tea).Oooh mystery reasons, that just raises the intrigue further! It's totally because John never shuts up with random singing combined with the revelation that even Mr Sequelitis isn't infallible when it comes to game design, isn't it? ISN'T IT?!
Hang on last I remembered you were enjoying Xillia 2, the plot must have gone down the pan once more.
Know what my favourite part about this game is? Going through the same maps I went through in Xillia 1 a few weeks ago in Main Chapters and Character Chapters because they have different treasures.
Remember kids, always recycle... to the extreme! Just... holy crap.
I like the game more than Xillia 1, but it certainly has its share of design issues. At least the gameplay's more fun and feels more balanced, and I'm getting something out of the story. I'm still holding out for the story to get crappy like it usually does towards the end. I hope that doesn't happen. :/
It wouldn't surprise you that I'm taking the day off to study/do work/play Ys Celceta instead. When I finished Chapter 9 proper and ended up having to do character chapters that took me to the same freaking places over and over again (and I almost had it up to here after finishing Chapter 8 and having to go to Khan Balk, Heliobog Base for the nth time, etc.), oh my gosh, I knew I needed a break.
That's why I'm not going for trophies this time around. They're just as bs as the last game's and I finished the last game's plat for the second time last week. No thanks. It falls into the category of "same shit, different game" (though, lol, the "different game" part is debatable).
Like, I like the game a little more than Xillia because I like the story more, but man that recycling almost kills me.
I'm actually not a big fan of LP's myself, watching people play games makes me think that i'd much rather be playing a game and i'll be damned if i'm going to sift through like a 40 minute episode to find the possibly non existent funny, the more bite sized nature of GG makes it an easier pill for me to swallow, that and I don't watch everything anyway.Haha, those among other reasons. Now that you bring it up, listening to them is extremely grating at times. I'll leave it at that and try to be polite about it. It certainly isn't something that everyone can easily watch like a good LP video (but even those aren't everyone's cup of tea).
I am enjoying Xillia 2 more than Xillia 1 narrative-wise, but I'm having problems with it with regards to overall game design. It gets boring to play for various reasons. I'm sleepy so I'll just fish out two posts of mine. I should write up a post about how the debt collection mechanic breaks up pacing...
Yeah, that's where I decided that I should stop watching. Sonic 2006 is stupid and a crappy game and sometimes it doesn't tell you what to do, but some of the stuff they missed or didn't do right away is generally obvious.Shadow Hog said:Or how they missed how they hadn't killed that giant robot for the longest time in Dusty Desert, falling down in a vain attempt to progress, more than once, before finally killing him and revealing the platforms that let you progress forward. Or that robot-killing mission they did where they ran right by all the robots instead of killing them, leading them to an empty area that would have otherwise been filled with robots. Like, egh.
Aha, for all three times I've played Graces, I always got lost in Wallbridge. I dunno what it is about that place...Nocturnowl said:One of those Xillia posts reminds me of ToS2 making you trawl back through some old dungeons and then when you reach the end there's a "hidden" area that extends the dungeon even further, not good times.
Now as for my Graces F progression i'm getting enjoyment out of it, but that wallbridge layout was just plain silly.
Is anyone doing an OT for Transformed?
Hope to have my copy Wednesday/Thursday.
So there's a money grind? sounds kind of annoying, not being able to change your party on the field seems odd as well. Still it's good to see it's a better game on the whole.Aha, for all three times I've played Graces, I always got lost in Wallbridge. I dunno what it is about that place...
I actually did the same thing for ToS2, though. I played ToS before playing ToS2, and I didn't feel like it was repetitive that much. But because Xillia 2 has the debt repayment system where you pay back 20 million gald to loansharks (and they freaking call you to pay your base amount every few seconds when you have over the asked amount for the chapter), and you make payments per chapter before moving on to the next chapter, you'll find yourself going back to maps over and over again to hunt things down, find materials, find the crazy cat lady's 100 cats, etc. And some of the maps are maps you just went through earlier on in the chapter. Add the Character chapters on top of those which make you go through the same maps yet again, and you have a game consisting of weird pacing and repetition.
Oh, and not being able to change parties at will on the field map is never fun. You can only change parties in towns, so the thing that Xillia 1 had where you can swap bench and active party members in and out of battle does not exist in Xillia 2. I liberally did that in Xillia 1, so it feels like my playstyle has gotten restricted.
The rest of it is fine. Battling's fun and more balanced, the way to acquire abilities is better now because you have more choice, story's interesting, some of the characters are better than they were in Xillia 1, and the character chapters are decent storywise. Overall, I like it better.
Oh, and you are given winged boots in the game which lets you dash. Half the time, the character runs as if they're in a mach speed zone and you barely have directional control of them.
A quick look in the OT thread shows nothing so far, I think it's open.Is anyone doing an OT for Transformed?

Are we just going to use this thread for the racing game?
I've never played these, is there a demo out yet?

I can't believe this made it into the thread title for NSMB U. I can't believe it.tiggerkiddo said:Haven't seen a game more generous with extra lives since I played that Bah Bah fest this summer.
20 million dollars in debt. The debt collecting agency lady keeps calling Ludger's cell phone asking for payments (sometimes you can cancel out of the menu without paying, but eventually, they will make you pay money when you have the cash so you can't exit out). This time I'm up to a 100,000 Gald payment. And if I pay another installment of 100K, I get free stuff.Nocturnowl said:So there's a money grind? sounds kind of annoying,
Touche but he could just get a temporary boost from a Chaos Emerald. He's been exposed to them so much, he should be able to do it with ease.
Is it sad that I recognize Billiechu's new avatar again? Because I think it's sad that I do.
