Sons of Anarchy - The 7th and Final Season - Tuesdays on FX

Now that I'm a week or so after the finale I can finally say.....this season was stupid.

I'm OK with the ending and the final episode, and how the main storyline wrapped up but for the most part it could have probably been wrapped up in about 3 episodes and ignored this entire dumb season.

The finale itself, despite being fine on its own, makes the season more stupid. So many story lines go nowhere, so many convoluted things that came about in this season get wrapped up in such a pointless way that it made the season feel like drawn out bullshit that was mostly just filler.

What was the point of Rat and the child? What as the point of Chibs and Jerry? Or Tig and Van Damm(despite it being great)? If everything in the entire season could have been wrapped up by just killing a bunch of people and going off to die why not have Juice do that? Oh, because they needed a way to kill off Jax without having the club do it. Everything just felt so pointless.

It seems like Sutter had the idea of how the Jax storyline would go and the idea of how it would end and then just worked it backwards. I was really fine with the ending and the final episode on its own. If only it didn't make the rest of the season seem so trivial in the process.

So telling someone some things makes you responsible for how they act on that information? What secret did Unser know that would have changed Jax's life?

Dude wasn't perfect, but he was for sure not guilty enough to be murdered in cold blood.

Last but not least, no one is saying that Milo would have ended up in a padded room, but watching a person die fucks a person up. You never forget it. Watching someone splatter right in front of you would definitely fuck a person up unless they were a psychopath.
You're ignoring all the context in Unser's action. He knows Gemma and Tara. He knows the history between the two and the many altercations between them (let's just name the fact that Tara would go as far as to fake abortion caused by Gemma hitting her). He knows Gemma's temper. He knows how she holds Jax above else to the degree she raises hell on the idea of him moving out of Charming with Tara. So with all that perfectly known to everybody including Unser, he still comes running with hot, second-handed, uncorroborated information that TARA MADE A DEAL THAT SENDS JAX TO JAIL.

Even Chucky understands the implications of that. Unser has painted a target on Tara's back, set the fire underneath Gemma's ass and gave her all the ammo she needs to go confront Tarra and do something rash. Why? because he's so pathetically love stricken that he would go and tell her valuable and critical info despite knowing very well what it's possible to cause.

And you know, then you add up all the years where he betrayed his job and illegally helped SOA out. 'Innocent' he is not.

As far as i remember Unser knew of Gemma's consent of killing JT. If Unser wasn't her lackey then he might have ventured to tell Jax that as early as possible which could have circumvent all the shit that went down over the years.

Milo would have affected but it's not something i would call 'life ruining' and frankly not something i would care about for such an insignificant character. Jax's 'rap sheet' is long enough that it's incredibly unnecessary to add to it what impact Jax's suicide would have on a character than 5 minutes of screen time in total.
It's also funny because of Jax's involvement in Eagle being severely shot (and her partner killed) but her quickly absolving him and holding no hard feelings.

what is the point of the grim reaper's daughter hanging out with the MC?

it doesn't seem like that whole plot ever goes anywhere of value

I can't really argue with your imaginary version of the show. Whatever takes to like it, I guess. All I can really say is that seeing another person die sucks and that disregarding an important point because of a character's screen time is a weird and lazy way to apologize for the writers of the show being bad.

Really liked the final scene a lot. Great show overall - no season was bad for me.

I imagine this quote coming from someone who stopped at season 2 or 3 and who refuses to acknowledge that the show went beyond that.

He should have gone arms out headed toward a police roadblock. Final shot should have been him getting blasted like the ending of Devil's Rejects. CGI truck killed my boner.

Finally caught up and watched the last few eps over the last few days. Man, what a shitshow.

Basically this entire final season was wasted on Jax confronting Jemma, something that should have happened within an episode or two after Tara's death. The finale was a mess which made little sense - Jax did nothing for the club, they're just going to get retaliated against for all his killings.

And god damn that ending sequence was awful. I was laughing so hard at the crappy aerial cam sweeps of the police chase. Like "holy shit they let us get a chopper for this scene let's go nuts!"

Show should have ended a few seasons back, at this point I was just basically watching to see it come to the logical conclusion. The only saving grace I felt was that Jax finally owed up to his crimes and his lifestyle and went out like the thug he was. Despite all the bullshit and Sutter basically killing the show for me in the end, Hunnam's performance is still worth watching for and the scene with him saying goodbye to Wendy and the kids did get to me.

I watched seasons 1 and 2 several months ago but stopped when I saw how bad 3 was. So I skipped 3 and picked up the show again last week. Watched seasons 4, 5 and some of 6 before I decided that I did not want to make myself suffer any longer (if what I'm insinuating is not clear, it's that I thought each season after 4 was worse). So now I opened up this thread to read up on the ending so while I simultaneously skipped all of season 7 and started watching the finale. I am glad I didn't wait to see all of this.

I finally go around to watching the last episode. I loved this show in the early seasons. I also actually really liked the final two episodes. I think one of the main problems with the show in the later seasons was someone geting shot in the face or stabbed every two seconds. Kurt Sutter was relying on it waaaayyyyy too much. It loses it's dramtic effect when it happens to the 20th person in one episode. Katy Sagal I thought did a very good job all things considered. As did Kim Coates and Theo Rossi. Also I actually thought Marilyn Manson did a good job as Tully during the final season. Courtney Love was a complete waste of space. Also, Walton Goggins should really be praised for Venus. He was so convincing.

Jax really became annoying in the later seasons and his character was so all over the place you never knew what motivation he had on any particular episode. Charlie Hunnam was good in the begining but I don't know what they were trying to do with the character in the last couple of seasons.

They were trying to show that Jax was already too far gone to live up to the legacy JT wanted for him, the problem was that whole arc could have happened in like 2 seasons instead of 4. If the show had stayed closely to the JT/journal stuff and not gone off the rails for so long, it would have been a much stronger message.
