Sony IS doomed. It is doomed. Playstation4 will NOT happen. it is cancelled. at least in the form that one would expect (highend, cutting edge technology)....and even the PS3 is now in some doubt. rumors are, that it cannot be produced at a reasonable consumer console price point. $300-400. the hardware is finished, but there are problems, and Sony execs are getting fed up from bleeding money. Ken is on his way out. Sony bight be sold!

Sony's very viable to takeover, or acquisition of certain assets. They're $61 Billion in debt, and it's going to be a matter of time before they HAVE to pay that money back or be foreclosed upon, right? That interest is just gonna stack up, and there's no way in hell a console launch will really rocket them to mass profit. 2 or 3 years into a console's life, then maybe, but one console won't be giving you 60+ billion in under 10 years.

The PS2 launch had a very big effect on Sony's stock price and value, right? Even the PSP launch hurt them a little. There's a reason Sony has been so frantic in trying to find someone to lead their businesses to profitability.

Sony really wouldn't ever have to pay the debt back...they could just continue to refinance and restructure. As long as the holders of the debt don't call it, Sony could continue to revolve their debt with new bond issues. As long as Sony has a good track record for honoring their debt, they really wouldn't be in too much trouble.

Yes, but Sony's $61 billion debt has nothing to do with the Sony Computer Entertainment. Sony is split into many different divisions, each is run as a separate company... the only company that is currently profiting under the Sony 'umbrella' is Sony Computer Entertainment, everything else is making a loss. They'll never sell their only revenue stream.
