Was it just me, or was their app completely worthless yesterday? It was jarring that it was just a link to the ustream feed in the browser and then the thing was basically a slideshow for 2 hours with no audio. I had to watch via Twitch on my iPad.

When they said that the indie games would have their console debut on ps4 does that mean xbone won't see them? With ID@xbox and all?

If they are sticking to their crazy parity clause, then you won't see many of them on Xbox.

I bet that's the first thing on the chopping block though. Microsoft is really only fucking themselves over with that damn clause and I think they are getting the message.

It really needs to go because they'd miss out on easily some of the biggest indie games. And if they let it slide for these games they'll have to let it slide for others so might as well get rid of it.

I'm still playing 99% of indies in my ps4.

Why do so many indie games go for old-school style graphics? That's what I was wondering when I was looking at the indie montage.

Because a large portion of the AAA cost bloat isn't making a deeper or longer game, it's creating HD assets. Ubisoft employs the most developers of all 3rd parties because Assassin's Creed needs a 1000 person team, with over half of that simply building HD art assets.

Lets say you've got an indie team of 15 people or so. That's not enough man hours to make a single building in AC: Unity within a reasonable time frame, let alone build an actual game.

Whats really sad is to see that MS may not have anything to show anymore besides what they've shown now. What do they really have for the future besides the rinse and repeat of the big 3 (Forza, Gears, and Halo)?

Dont say Sunset, its not even established yet.

Kinda odd feeling of emptiness of games from them from 2015 on given how long it takes for games to bet made. they would have to be simultaneously working on direct sequels as the first games releases.

I would expect their 2015 E3 to revolve heavily around Halo 5 first gameplay footage, a Gears of War teaser for 2016 release, real gameplay of Crackdown and Scalebound, and probably a teaser for Forza 6. Next year's E3 they'll actually look fairly strong. What they do in 2016 when all those games but Gears have released and Halo 6 is too early to show is the real problem. They might as well try renting the stage out to third parties.

Also, that's not a bad 2015 lineup by any means, but it won't necessarily hold up too well if Sony rolls into E3 2015 with gameplay of Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, Lily Bergamo, Mm's next game, the R&C remake, Sony Bend's well into development PS4 game, and probably a few others with teasers for GG's RPG, the next Infamous, a new Killzone by GG Cambridge, etc..

MS has borrowed from their future reveals heavily to pad the last two E3s. They can fake it for about another year. Unless they realized this mistake immediately after last E3 and signed up a bunch of projects directly afterwards they're looking at a 2016-2017 exclusives lull no matter what. the real question is if they've woken up yet and are pursuing more exclusives or if they're just fine with having the primary driver of their system be that Xbox 360 fans aren't in tune enough to shop around 'cause Halo n' Gears.

Microsoft was mostly the Halo and Sunset Overdrive show.

Unless you're a hard core gamers, most people were wondering what crackdown and Phantom Dust were. I know I had to explain it to some of my friends.

Sunset Overdrive was the only thing that truly grabbed my interest 100%. They catered to quite a select audiences. Not as small as Nintendo of course.

Funny, so you prefer Kinect/dance/children E3 of the past when they try to cater to a wide audiences?

On the other hand, Sony is same old every year. At least MS were games/games/games two straight years after those Kinect crappy years

i almost feel like the length of the tv/services section was there to give shawn layden some face time. odd.

the length of the "powers" segment was bizarre considering they had nothing to show besides existing comic book art and concept art. the name dropping on producers was hilarious too..your average viewer had no idea who these people are.

A white ps4 is a "megaton"?
Most definitely. It's already #5 on the Amazon Bestseller list. Personally, I thought it was Destiny included for $399, so that would certainly qualify for a megaton, but even with the $449 price tag it has a huge effect on the PS4 perception.

It was a decent conference. There was a lot of content covering multiple genres and the first 30-45 minutes were excellent. However, there was too much emphasis on exclusive missions etc. But boy did the conference go downhill when Shawn took the stage. It's not just that he was talking about boring stuff or that his speech went on too long (notice how Andrew House seemed to talk faster when he returned?) but he didn't come off as an interesting or charming person. I'd have much rather Shawn stay on the sidelines and Shu, Boyes and House hold reign on the presenting duties). It definitely picked up afterwards though, though that may just be due to them actually showing GAMES, not TV TV TV. As a result, the whole conference left a touch of a negative impression on me, in spite of everything that was shown.

Though I must also say, the stuttery stream and my own tiredness are factors. I missed several trailers because of this.

What..? Where in my post did I say I prefer Kinect/dance/children?

Are you high?

Are we talking about same old? So while Sony was churning out The Last of Us, God of War Ascension, Beyond Two Souls, two Tales game. What exclusives did Microsoft push out for the 360? They basically abandoned it during the last year or so.

For Microsoft it was all Halo, CoD and Minecraft. And two of those aren't even exclusive.

Sony had the better conference out of the 3, i just wish they had not spent time on that "Powers" thing... *shudders*

Oh, and lol at the guy asking for Sony to copy the Nintendo format next year.

My predictions for exclusive retail line up

The Last of Us
Drive Club
LittleBigPlanet 3

2015

Uncharted 4

2016

Playstation TV is number 7. Am i seeing things?
Maybe, you should link it so we can confirm. It'll be a huge seller for Remote Play. I said this over and over again at TGS. Whether it'll help the Vita remains to be seen, but it will inflate it's numbers.

I remember reading an article not long ago that said Sony would be altering their conference based on what MS had to show.

Do you think its possible that the "Powers" segment was talked on and replaced a possible big game reveal?

Lets take a look:

1. First the obvious - the whole Powers thing is not THAT big of news.

2. It came very, VERY late in the presentation, we're talking "megaton territory" late.

3. Normally something like this would get a 10-15 second mention and that's it. I believe the whole Powers segment was just shy of 6 minutes.

4. The presenter - Brian Michael Bendis - seemed extremely unprepared and appeared to be desperately searching for how to keep talking and stretch it out.

I firmly believe that this segment, among possibly some others - like the Ratchet movie trailer, the Little Big Planet reveal (just seemed soooo rough and unprepared) were tacked on AND / OR extended in order to fill the conference and make up for gaps left by unrevealed / demonstrated games that they are saving for later.

If you can wait for a PS4 until then I don't see why anyone wouldn't buy it. You get a good game with it for a cheaper price tag and it has an air of rarity being white.

Maybe they're saving The Last Guardian for TGS.

Which make sense honestly.

You said MS cater to a smaller audience by ignoring Kinect/dance/children.
By same old I mean 45 minutes of talking and boring segments trying to cater to a wide audience. MS is game after game the last two years. I wish Sony can do that for a change.

Feel free to look at past MS E3 threads to see reactions about "trying to cater to a wide audience".

I was really hoping to get a Planetside 2 release date and an N++ release date both we're at the conference in one way or another. Been waiting for these games for so long

I suspect that Stig's game that was recently canceled was suppose to have a big E3 reveal yesterday. But since it go axed, Sony had to find something else to fill up time.

Hmm, definitely a possibility. Seems like they would have had a LOT of time to prepare to fill in that gap though with something much more compelling and exciting.

The Powers thing sucked but I kind of expect that stuff from them at E3 from now on, I doubt it happened last minute. as a whole they're struggling so when they've got a product (the PS4) that's actually doing well there's probably a ton of internal politics going on, and they probably still want to show off that different divisions in Sony are managing to work together.

it would be a bigger deal for me if they did 60 minute conferences.

No. Apparently you didn't understand. When I said they cater to a small audience. Meaning they cater more to bros shooter gamers, and less toward people who enjoy RPG/JRPG. The last JRPG that came out for MS was Tales of Vesperia.

Until the announcement of Phantom Dust, a couple of indies. Most of MS games fall under

Shooters- Halo, Gears, Sunset Overdrive, Crackdown 3
Dance/Fitness- Dance Central, Zumba
Racing- Forza Horizon 2.

The only exception were Phantom Dust and Fable Legends

At least Sony has a little bit of everything. They got kids/platform game in LBP, Racing game, Shooters, Action Adventure in Uncharted, horror/thriller in Bloodbound and The Order, JRPG in Tales games.

All MS talk about is games games the last two years? Lol apparently you didn't watch last year E3.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

So MS is missing kids/platform, Action Adventure, horror/thriller and JRPG

don't want to start list war, but the only one legit is a JRPG ( on vita or ps3?)

please open your eyes, the games portfolio is a wash between ps4 and xbone. Different people prefer different games. But I'm sure most on this board will enjoy the game after the game presentation of MS than the 45 min+ dead time of past E3 conferences from any body.
