He said they wanted to use MGSV in Japan to battle Nintendo. Like you said, they wouldn't buy Japanese exclusivity because they have it by default.

Some stuff on Kojima's twitter suggests there's a short and long version of the E3 MGSV trailer. I could see the short version showing up at a presser, with the long version going online the next day.

Sony creating multiple teams within their first party studios, and their heavy indie push, coupled with EAs seemingly broken relationship could point to Sony not being willing to play ball in the same way. Ubisoft will support anything as evidenced by Wii U, and Vita. the only question mark is Activision and their buddy relationship with Sony concerning Destiny, though destiny requires an internet connection by default anyway.

its not outside the realm of possibility that Sony was not willing to go the Microsoft direction, and Sony is compensating in other ways. Sony just needs a team to make Soccer games like they do the MLB and they would be set on that front.

Dowe know if the PS4 version will allow offline play, or that its exclusive? Blizzard seems coy about talking about the PS4 version at all to be honest. It could be big if Sony made at deal with blizzard for Titan though, since blizzard did say they had a "strategic partnetship" with Sony.....whatever that means.

I also think Sony will try to secure the next gen MGS at least as a timed exclusive. It makes sense because the series has such a strong tie to the PS brand and Kaz seems to be trying to bring the old gang back together again for his new strategy (Sony 1st party + Square/Capcom/Konami)

Ideally I want it to be totally exclusive for PS4. Not because i'm a fanboy but because exclusives tend to really take advantage of a systems hardware and are better optimized. It's just not the same for multiplatform games.

"Strategic partnership" could mean that we may get MMOs from Blizzard onto the PS4 considering the recent announcements of PlanetSide 2 and DC Universe Online. World of Warcraft? Maybe they see now that the console market is viable for MMOs, and since their WoW subscribers on PC are declining, they may try to get it onto the console market to see if it can also be a success. Well maybe not WoW, but more likely Titan (but supposedly that has been delayed into 2016).

Maybe this partnership leads to Battle.Net integration? That is another possibility.

Or it could be the long awaited StarCraft Ghost ready to come back to the consoles and enter development.
 
Imagine if Persona 5, FFXV, FFXVI, and Kingdom Hearts 3 were revealed in E3.

Man oh man.
 
What Kairi is doing in that gif is what every fan will be doing if Square Enix announces Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV (Versus) at E3. The excitement and meltdowns for pure, unadulterated happiness would be beautiful to watch.
 
In light of today's news about the Xbox One, Sony has the power to completely pummel Microsoft into the dirt at E3, or leave an equally bad taste in my mouth.

Got my fingers crossed.

EDIT: oh my god if KH3 got announced.

They've got no reason to implement an online only system, if they don't provide content like the auction house or something similar.
So I really doubt that they're going for an online version there :P

I wish CBOAT could spill some beans on sony DRM plans or the lack of them. Will put all these comments about they will do the same as MS to rest for good. I swear some people sound as if they WANT it to be the case just so the XBone won't be alone in taking heat for it smh

That's exactly what some people have been saying, I think. :/

Cboat must not have a source that knows much about the Sony DRM plans. Last we heard was from mortimer saying that the DRM was 'on hold' or something, right?

I think it's a given that almost all third-party publishers will be supporting Sony, so nothing to worry about that. Ultimately it all depends on the install base of the console. I can see Sony securing one or two third-party exclusives early in the generation when it can prove to be useful (FFVersus/XV).

Also, it would be difficult to make Soccer games because EA has a monopoly in that area and holds all the major licenses, so I don't see that happening.
 
God I hope Sony can somehow pull off a very low level DRM schema for the PS4 if any at all. If they do, it could very well reverse the X1's system. Monday can't come soon enough.

Okay here's what he said:

"We are preparing developments for a Final Fantasy title. Please be excited for E3 this year."

I took that as him saying they are preparing to give people developments on a Final Fantasy game (Versus). Not really hard to decipher. Yes it's weird English but he's basically saying they will give more info on a FF title soon. It wasn't implied that they are revealing a "brand new" Final Fantasy.
 
As long as that stupid check-in garbage is not implemented and the console works just fine without internet everything will be better.


Microsoft and their stupid way of thinking is the only reason for the xbox one not working if not online.


They have done a lot of good things in gaming but they are destroying it now, basically.


Sony will surely not be anywhere near as bad as this MS train wreck/bullshit.
 
Fuck, after spending two pages of ranting into the air in the Xbone drm thread, I am honestly spent.

I don't know if I'm ready to jump into ps4. Some good videos, hype and rumors might help.
 
What would become of the EA/Microsoft relationship if the PS4 takes an early lead in sales? Given both consoles appear to be due out at roughly the same time. Frankly I've never witnessed this much negativity focused on a single platform (the post/view counts on these threads are quite eye opening).

EA have showed they have no problem dropping support (see Wii U).
