Xbox: "Price Increases Are Never Fun For Anybody", but "We try to provide players with more of what they’re asking for."

None of these business decisions make any sense. I bought a series x because I already had game pass since it was so cheap. I think they're doing this backwards. It's almost feels like intentional sabotage, either that or they know they can't sell any more hardware so they'll just make more money off the people that already own it smh.
I actually think it is intentional sabotage at this point. They want out of the console business and gamepass.

If they price enough people out, they have less obligation with less customers when they eventually pull the plug.

Sub services are turning into cable all over again. I didn't ask for Fortnite Crew or shitty Ubisoft+ Classics. I don't want them, just like I didn't want the myriad of TV channels I never watched but had to pay for when we had cable because you either bought the bundle or you went without.

I won't use them, they add no value to me. Cost went up but value didn't. Just like cable TV, it's no longer worth the cost for a bunch of crap I won't use.

It's a win-win for them. If they're successful, they've upcharged a significant amount. If it fails, they get to exit what they see as a poor business. There is a chance it could succeed, simply because Microsoft owns a significant portion of new gaming content that can eventually be weaponized against their competitors.

Corporate speak is so disingenuous these days it's barely worth examining, but man do MS take the cake.

"giving the players more of what they're asking for"

Ok, then add a $10 option for people to add streaming, ubisoft and fortnite v bucks to gamepass if you think that those are market offerings that consumers are asking for.

Edit after seeing the tweet above:

How is paying $30 per month, forever, a good deal for people who almost exclusively play free to play games? That's genuinely mental logic. Also, does the f2p multiplayer crowd play an assortment of games? My impression was that segment of the market tends to focus on one game and invest both time and money into that game almost exclusively. I could easily be wrong about this though - my impressions come mostly from anecdotal observations of my younger cousins

Well, we've all been asking if GamePass is profitable for years. MS is finally making it happen!

The damage is done at this point. They've simply priced too many people out of their ecosystem at this point, their console is too expensive and GP is a lot for most families/people given the economy right now. At this point I would be hesitant to buy anything MS in the future. I do enjoy Xbox I thnk their BC is and amazing offering but there is a point where the value isn't there and we are at that point and I think in general most people are just burnt out with all the recent price increase fatigue in general in just about every aspect of gaming right now.
And everything on their platform can be played on competition platforms (and better versions too on a PS pro and pc) whereas the same cannot be said the other way around.

Xbox is more expensive, performs worse and has less content than competing platforms.

At this point I can't justify buying xbox anymore. It makes no sense.
