I ended up cancelling my Samsung order and got the big brother to this today...the 850D 55" it looked really good in the store. Can't wait to set it up in a hour or 2.
So I take this TV is the cheapest 4k 10bit HDR TV out there? Any reason to invest more into a TV than his? I swear buying highly priced TVs has turned out a placebo every single time I fell for it.
Does this TV, or Bravia in general, dim automatically when most of the screen is dark? The current 6 year old Samsung I have dims automatically and it can't be turned off. Only in movie mode this is off by default, but that mode obviously is not for gaming.
Ok I'm really confused. I have the pro plugged into hdmi 2 and it's saying only 2k is supported. 3840x2160-60hz What am I doing wrong?

DCI-P3 within the Rex. 2020 color space.Dumb question but does hdr mean p3 color stuff?
Amazon.co.uk has this one on sale: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01IT200FU/
Does anyone know the model?! Can't see if its XD80 or XD70
Thanks! How can you tell its that one? The features seem different in both listings.
I'm
Going from a 46" Samsung F6300 to the 49" 800D. I don't know the input lag values of the Samsung one but rtings.com says 62 ms but not sure if they did it back then on game mode, which is how I play. Do you think the 800D is better or at least on par with the input lag of the F6300? I don't want an upgrade to the Sony one if the lag is worse. Thanks guys

Edit: I know the input lag of the Sony one is in the 3.0's but not sure about the f6300 since it's older and don't know if rtings used game mode back then
My settings are pretty close, although I have the motionflow/clearness off, color at 47, contrast at 95, and my black level about 10 ticks higher, since the room I'm in is relatively bright. I tried the rtings settings as a baseline and found the image way too dark. For those wondering, my settings for the 43 inch version of this tv is: (played in a moderately lit room)
HDMI Input 2 (4k / 60 hz)
Game Mode
Auto Picture Off
Brightness 25
Color 50
Light Sensor Off
Contrast 80
Gamma 0
Black Level 50
Black Adjust Off
Hue 0
Contrast Enhancer Off
Motionflow ; Custom
Clearness ; MAX
Smoothness: Off
Temperature: Neutral (the expert 1 it defaults to seems too 'warm' for my tastes)
Live Color Off
Sharpness 50
Reality Creation Off
And all Video Options set to Auto (HDR, HDMI video range, Color Space)
All ps4 pro settings are left on auto as well.
Be sure to turn on ENHANCED HDMI in your settings -> input menu. Otherwise, if you don't - anytime you turn on HDR in a game the resolution will drop from 4k to 1080p.
Just saw that the 43" dropped below $600 today on Amazon. 49" is $648. That's the cheapest I've seen yet.

So I ordered this beauty with one-day shipping on Amazon yesterday, and around noon tracking changed from "on time" to "Delivery Delay" but it still said it would arrive today. Well 8pm just came and went and now estimated delivery time just changed to "Nov 21-25." Before I call up Amazon and scream them stupid, let me just say that this ONLY happens when shipping is handled by the piss-awful suck hole that is USPS. This never happened back when UPS or even Fed-Ex handled Amazon orders. Hell, even Amazon's own shipping service has never been late with me before.

Wow those prices are ridiculous for this set.
I ordered the 49" for $649 from Best Buy yesterday. Pretty good deal from what I've seen (especially with BB Points and/or cashback programs) and pretty excited to get it.
I'm still waiting on my Pokémon Steelbook that was overnighted using Fed Ex. Tracking shows it left the facility but Fed Ex hant scanned it in yet. I've had several other orders like that in the last couple months. Can't remember the last time it happened prior to that either. May be Amazon. Something weird is going on cause my other packages weren't all through Fed Ex either.
Edit: it supposedly shipped on Friday

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm really happy with my 49" inch model.
I'm using the rtings.com settings for now, and they're working good. After installing my backlight, I'm pretty happy.
Would love to see other 49" users settings, please share!
Installing your backlight?
Rtings settings are for the va panel so I don't know if they make sense for the 49.
Anyone with the 43 inch (VA panel) model of this, how are the viewing angles in your experience?
I want to replace my ageing bedroom TV but anything larger than 43" probably wouldn't fit in the space I have for the TV to go (it's currently a 32" with giant bezels).
I'm a bit worried about the reports of poor viewing angles on VA panels like on the 43". I'll usually be looking straight at the TV of course, but if I do happen to be watching it from an angle, is it terrible?
Finally, has the limitation of "enhanced HDR" inputs to only HDMIs 2 and 3 been a problem? Seems it may make HDMIs 1 and 4 pretty much useless for 4K content if I'm understanding it correctly (I may not be!).
I imagine should I upgrade my AV Receiver in the future I can just use HDMI 3 (with ARC) as input from the AVR, and then gain "enhanced HDMI" on as many HDMI ports as my receiver supports?
I put an LED backlight, and it has really helped.
I didn't realize those settings were for the VA panel... does anyone have reference for some good settings for the 49" inch?
Atleast I got things like the Enhanced HDMI going and stuff.
Yea. Black Friday deal perhaps? But it dropped $150. Tempted to take mine back to BB only to get it again at this price. Thats quite a bit of money haha.
You won't see HDR broadcasts anytime soon. So aside from receivers or Xbox or PS4 you wouldn't really need HDMI 2.0a and up which allow HDR. The 4 ports should do 4k 60hz as they are hdmi 2.0 standard, but there is some confusion around whether they are 4K/30hz for HDMI 1 and HDMI 4. Shouldn't be an issue for years though.
Would you even have to take the TV back? I mean, they know you're just going to return it, and buy it again. So wouldn't they just do a courtesy 150 dollar credit refund.
I also think you'd have to pay a restocking fee if you were to return it and buy it again, somewhat offsetting the 100 dollar price difference.
Question here; is there any way to get content display from my pc/laptop to show up on the TV? Obviously, i could use an HDMI cable, but other than that.?
I should call an ask. But big purchases like this that see a big discount on the price should be eligible to get a refund on the amount within a certain time frame.
You should just be able to bring your receipt in for the price match. I've done it before at best buy.
Great to hear, thanks for the detailed answers! Sounds like VA shouldn't be too much of an issue (which was my main worry), I'll try and view it in John Lewis tomorrow (Richer Sounds only had the 49" IPS to view, but they have a 14 day return policy too, so I'm not too concerned now with that and having seen your post that it doesn't seem a huge deal - especially that the KS8000 was VA also which I didn't realise. You won't see HDR broadcasts anytime soon. As for viewing angles, pretty much most LED televisions on the market are VA or IPS. Most VA have okay viewing until about 25 degrees or more. If you have a large living room with sofas on all sides, and the tv is dead middle those on the sides beyond 30 degree angle would see a more washed out image. But probably 95% of people will view the tv dead on or within 20 degrees angle. Even the KS8000 is VA with limited viewing angle. And no not terrible.
Awesome. I'll do this later today.
Is there a time frame i should look at? Got my TV on 10/02/2016
Hey, things should be simpler.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchp...rue&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960&keys=keys
best buy themselves reduce the price on both the 43 inch and 49 inch.
So it should be easier to get a price match after the point of purchase. Best Buy won't allow price matching with competitors AFTER point of purchase, but you can price match if best buy themselves reduce the price of the unit. But you must do so during your return/exchange period.
I am not sure what the return period is for the TV. But i know i did get the 2 year replacement plan. Just in case. I wish they had Chat Customer support so that i could ask them about it right now.
I think they do. At the worst you could just call your local store.
I'm heading on over there to get my 50 dollars (lol).
I'll ask them if possible.
That would be awesome. I don't get out of here for another few hours, then have to get home and then go to BB. lol. But if you ask them if i got the 49" on 10/02/2016 can i still get a refund on the price difference.
$50 is still quite a bit of cash. So its nice that you can get it back.
Will do. I'll be sure to tell them you also have the 2 year protection plan too.
If you bought it from Best Buy and you're an Elite or Elite Plus member who qualifies for an extended return policy, there's zero reason not to do a price adjustment. Just call and you can keep your old TV too.mine is about a month old. Tempted to take it back only to get this price again. $150 is quite a lot. but i like the panel i got, don't want to risk getting a bad one. hah
Awesome. I'll do this later today.

Oh you're definitely sol then.
Bb pm/return period I think is 15 days or 30 days of you are an elite customer.
