Spaceworld 2000 Zelda vs. E3 2005 Zelda...FIGHT!

Five years on, what do you think of the 'Realistic Zelda' (or 'Olda' as I like to call it) graphically? Especially compared to the Spacworld demo from 2000? Although it is pretty obvious that given its bump-mapping and high poly count the spaceworld Zelda is still technically more impressive than the upcoming Zelda the new Zelda still destroys the demo given its artstyle, animation and overall lighting. So, while the Spaceworld 2k Zelda was a nice demo, I prefer the look of Twilight Princess.
 
I prefer the Twilight Princess' visuals as well. Although the Spaceworld demo seems to be a lot smoother, I like visuals with a bit more grit and character. However it is understandable since that demo was just that, a tech demo, so they probably didn't spend too much time giving it more detail, etc. The new Zelda just seems more 'complete' to me (obviously it should be since it's supposed to be a full game).
 
To me, The Wind Waker was perfect graphically for Zelda. It looked like A Link to the Past brought into 3D.

As for the Spaceworld showing, it was nice, but Twilight Princess kills it in style and design.

I like TPs art style better. That said I think a combination of the two styles would be nice. If they did make a game like the demo it could be cool as long as they upped the poly count and toned down the shinyness a little.

The Link in TW beats SW Link but the Ganon in the Spaceworld demo is too damn awsome they should copy him perfectly.

We need to hunt the people down and force them into the A Clockwork Orange Chair and force them to watch this commerical on an endless loop.

A Link to the Past had a mature atmosphere. Ocarina of Time is LTTP brought to 3D more so than Wind Waker is IMHO.
 
I personally can't stand cell shaded so I didn't like Wind Waker.

Anyways, TW is noticably better looking then Spaceworld Demo, but SWD was pretty cool and I was dissapointed when it was canceled.
 
Amazing what 5 years of experience on a platform can do.

It would be worth remembering this 5 years from now when somebody inenvitably pulls out the Killzone demo for some comparison.

the Zelda Spaceworld demo has

-higher polygon models
-higher frame rate (60 FPS)
-much better animation
-bump mapping, minimal highres textures

Zelda Twilight Princess has

-larger open areas
-better art
-better style
-grittier textures
-the horse
 
The SW Zelda had better technical graphics (bumpmapping, better textures, better lighting). But style wise, it's no match for the new Zelda. Overall Zelda:TP wins.

The Spaceworld demo, as odd as it may sound, looks closer to the Wind Waker style than Twilight Princess does (mostly the colors). That said, TP looks better to me.

Meh, it's an atmospheric thing. I just like how Link's sword is raised, really.

The Zelda in SW demo is only modelling 2 characters in an small enclosed environment, (hence the high higher polygon models, bump mapping, etc.) much better animation? Purely subjective, esp. since you couldn't play a game in this way. I personally prefer some of LOZ:TP textures, better lighting, & as far as art goes this>>>>>>>over the SW demo.

that's because they haven't shown Ganon yet. I won't be seeing him because I'm now on a media blackout. Haha... LOZ TP = the roxx0r
 
The animation on the Spaceworld demo is incredible. I've seen little this generation on any console to match it in that area.
 
Wow, the Spaceworld Zelda haven't really aged all that well, huh?

I remember being pretty overwhelmed simply looking at screenshots but now, it's just "meh".

So, what's the official word on the frame rate in Twilight Princess? 30 FPS locked?
And what's up with the animation? Did they remove the stutter effect (the short pause when you attack an enemy) from Wind Waker?
 
The old demo is technically superior.

The new game is artistically superior.

I suppose animation could fall under both, though, and that is one area where TP absolutely falls down. The animation absolutely sucks at times. The rest of the visuals rock, though.

Ninty said they are going to focus on animation improvement up till the game's release.
 
I would imagine that SpaceWorld Zelda, with the same amount of polygons and bump mapping, would probably be what it will look like on Revolution. That demo solely to impress the gallery...

How does Sony lie (atleast in the context of demos)? As established in many a thread, the PS2 demos have been easily surpassed by the system over its lifetime. Perhaps you're talking about PS1 demos?

Err, in regards to pre-system tech demos, Sony was the only company that did NOT lie. MS and Nintendo's system demos were never truly matched on the respective consoles (ESPECIALLY MS). Sony's were. They were COMPLETELY accurate and have been outdone with real software. Sony's PSP demos were also accurate. Who's to say that most of their PS3 demos won't be? We'll have to wait and see...
