Spain: "It's been a month and a half where the PS5 is selling more than the Switch 2 in terms of consoles."

Source is Vandal's own podcast (they are the ones that always give us Spain's hardware sales and physical software sales for Spain)

Minute 30:
It been a month and a half where the PS5 is selling more than the Switch 2 in terms of consoles.
I also don't think Nintendo is super happy with games that aren't theirs. Third-party games, aside from Cyberpunk, not much else is really performing well.
Minute 40:
Sales of Star Wars Outlaws for Switch 2 was 600 units in the first week. A disaster.
That same week, Daemon x Machina releases and sold 700 units.
Chronos sold 2,800 on PS5 and 300 on Switch 2, it launched at the same time on both PS5 and Switch 2.

From the purple forum.

The software numbers aren't shocking...but hardware numbers...huh?

Switch 2 released in June, there's no hardware stock issues and PS5 is already outselling it since August began? A 5 year old console that had no huge exclusive coming out recently?

Americans dont realise it for the most part, but Europe is sony land, xbox nor nintendo dont stand a chance here, i remember Spain having some crazy ratio of playstation vs xbox units sales too(i think it was last gen so ps4 vs xbox one), and it was 10:1 in favour of sony lool ;)

Spain is more Nintendo's because most Spanish youtubers (and I mean 95%) are Pikmins.

Sort of speaks to me.
Aside from first party games or exclusives- there is nothing id want on my Switch 2. Nothing i cant play elsewhere with better quality - especially in Spain/EU that is Sony country and a Switch likely being a secondary console.

My 2-3 buddies in Spain are setup as such as well

Hum...Switch 1 sold over 3M units in Spain until the end of 2023...PS5 had sold 1.5M.

Where is that data coming from?

Spain is just weird.
What? Lol Spain is weird for not spending the same money for a hybrid console as a fully-fledged console(in some cases more money) with a HIGHLY limited switch 2 software line up? Nintendo expected people to turn out in droves to buy a 500+ system for two games(Mario kart and Donkey Kong)......and Spain, and other regions, see through the bs.

And don't gete started on the game keys lol.

What you are saying is the PS5 has outsold it in the last 2 months.

It seems we are not basing the numbers against historical data or trends but rather how another console is currently selling.

Perhaps there are factors that are not being taken into account.

To extrapolate Nintendo FUD from this random data point would be a grievous error.

Instead of asking what is wrong with Switch 2 perhaps you should be asking what is right with PS5?

Game Keys are just Blu Ray discs. That "fully-fledged console" is just a big, fat, stationary and old fashioned clunker that can't be moved from one spot. Traditional systems are going the way of the dinosaur, and rightly so.

Yes, very weird indeed.

Was last gen obviously, as u can see ps4 vs xbox one, dont remember if it was total units across whole gen or just monthly/yearly but difference was crazy compared to worldwide which was roughly 2:1 or just bit above for sony.
Thats already spain in 2014 when xbox still roughly kept up with sony worldwide, and it was already 7:1 in favour of sony in spain :

Why would this information be considered Nintendo FUD? It's just information from the data they have.

I wouldnt say so. Atleast here in Germany sure Sony is big here, but same for Nintendo.

do they provide any detail on it, or is it just purely. It is in stock and freely available and PS5 has sold more.

Just want to make sure there arent any factors like its been sold out for 2 weeks of the window or something

This is pure speculation, retailers are not providing hardware sales data since mid July and some people are calculating Switch 2 sales based on Mario Kart World sales. This are the latest data we received.

Jul 14- Jul 20 week.

Hardware:

NS2: 6.300 / 120.000^
PS5: 4.300 / 211.800 YTD
NSW: ~1.400 / 88.000 YTD
XBS: 350
Lenovo Legion GO: 110
Asus ROG Ally: <50
MSI Claw: 4

Nintendo fans here were quick to celebrate the great sales numbers that came out early, while some remained cautious and advised to look and see how the numbers are playing out over the first 12 months or so. It produced some record numbers, but that doesn't mean it will go on like this forever. We really haven't seen how this thing performs with wider audiences, yet.

The Switch 2 is going to end up selling much less than Switch 1.

A lot of people didn't use their Switch much or enjoy it enough, to the point of wanting it's successor.

WOW!!!! Look at those Asus ROG Ally sales numbers. Ouch! It's an order of magnitude less than what the Xbox Series consoles did that week. I think many have HUGELY overestimated the potential of the entire PC handheld market, unfortunately.

It's been almost more over hyped than VR gaming was 10 years ago. in some ways you can say it's more overhyped.

It's dangerous to draw conclusions based on one region, but I think it's believable that Switch 2 console sales have flagged some in August and September, since Nintendo hasn't had a major release since Donkey Kong Bananza in July.

That said, even ignoring the fact that we're talking about a single country, I don't think the third party software sales tell us anything. Nintendo doesn't report digital sales, so this is entirely based on sales of retail boxed copies of the games, and we know that most third party titles are game key cards, which don't offer any real advantage over digital versions for most consumers (unless they are playing to resell the game) and are less convenient to purchase than just buying off the eShop.

Note that the one third party title they say isn't performing poorly at retail is Cyberpunk, one of the few games that's complete on the cartridge. Also, they have Daemon X Machina (another complete on card game) outselling Star Wars Outlaws by 100 units, which I think is out of step with what we've seen on the eShop. I know in the US Outlaws peaked at #2 on the eShop charts, while I don't think Machina ever broke the top 10. Sure, there could be a huge regional difference in demand for these games, but I think it's more likely that consumers strongly favored digital for SWO and at least modestly favored physical for DXM.

PC handhelds sales are way lower than you think.

I didn't expect PS5 to outsell Switch 2 in Spain for a month and a half, but the worst part is the software numbers: the first-party sellers are selling a lot, but the third-party sellers are barely selling anything.

Spain is just weird.
I have the switch 2 but battery life is ridiculous how short is it almost comical; never had a Nintendo console from N64 but I was shocked to discover how scarce is the quantity of AAA games in the online store and Nintendo older games price is a total robbery. So spanish seems smarter to me than the rest of the world if I can say.

Sounds like you just prefer Western gaming. Oh, and if you think battery life is bad on Switch 2, don't ever get a PC handheld.

Don't make it less bad...anyway I don't think the classic but the switch is just for japanese games is a valid excuse. It sell 150 milions WW and most of players are western.
