So is it known yet that there's an extended demo at Gamescom? Cause when I saw the demo at Konami's booth, there was an extra bit at the end that showed Big Boss infiltrating another player's base and stealing his stuff, until the other player (who is also Big Boss) noticed it.

Ah I just figured out what's going on. Other players will be able to infiltrate your Mother Base, and you'll be able to infiltrate theirs in return. The Dark Souls of Metal Gear games!

I can't imagine something I find less appealing. I fucking hate this dynamic. Looking forward to logging out of PSN every time someone decides to jump into my game to annoy me.

I hate this thing myself...I find it very annoying for people to invade me when I am doing my own thing, so yeah, i will also log off and only go online when I want to have some fun with this mechanic. Other than that I don't see myself wasting to much time invading and such.

Dawg it doesn't matter what happened you still the MVP.

Perfect excuse to clean up the artwork and have ALL MGS-GAF on there.

Dawg, you da real MVP.

Any word from Based ToraShiro on when we can expect the footage to either hit YouTube or Gamersyde?!

Seeing as they intentionally left the base infiltration part out of the stream and wanted just people in the Konami booth to see it, I wouldn't be surprised if their plan is to not release the full HQ 60fps version out in the wild until after a day or two like with the E3 demo. I hope I'm wrong and it comes shortly, like the 60fps box footage was uploaded to gamersyde quickly yesterday.

Yeah! Considering their travel schedule, I expect it within a couple of days... You know? Maybe the Gamescom presentation first and then the "show floor" demo later?!

Dawg dabess dawg.

He is, doe! *Dawg gives MVP speech, thanks Sn4ke_911* "Sn4ke_911, you da real MVP."

What? Is there anywhere else I can watch it then?

So yeah, the Kojima meeting was cancelled because tbe stream show took too long. I'm kinda disappointed. Not as much as this one guy who had a The End cosplay, wheelchair and all, but still...

Diamond Dawgs never give up though. If this is what it takes, I'm sending the art to Japan :lol

Considering that most of the questions were absolutely shit can't be helping Matters.

Welcome back anyway dude, I hope you're having an awesome time there!!

The conference for today was good not going to lie.

But I hyped myself up far too much for snake and a release date and got neither....

But what I did see and all of the PT SH stuff was great.

It's not over Dawgu!Not yet!

Forgive me for saying this, but after today's show, I'm far more excited for the revival of Halo 2 online multiplayer... I just get the feeling that this game is so far off and I feel like I'm being taken for a ride. I'm glad for the hardcore PC gamers, they actually for a worthwhile announcement. But damned if I'm not severely disappointed. I officially want to know nothing more unless it's substantial, like a trailer or release date reveal. My hype is gone... Feelsbadman.jpeg

My hype is still there but I was also abit disappointed. However, I was mostly disappointed about knowing Big Boss has only a few lines like WTF you're bringing this big ass Hollywood star to record just a few lines in a game where BB as a character is at his most important evolution from good to bad.

Then again I am not Kojima so who knows what the fuck is going to happen, What is the truth and what's a lie haha.

I hear you, but I get the feeling we'll have plenty of dialogue and exposition in the finished product. I mean, Kiefer said the whole reason he couldn't be there was because he was recording lines in LA. Damn... They're not even done recording lines... At least preorders are a good sign. It means we'll get a release date soon, maybe TGS. But I also have a feeling it'll be a ways off. I'm just so exhausted from following the news and browsing forums over the past two years. It's starting to feel like a chore, but I'm compelled to do it none the less. Also, I kind of felt like the Silent Hill reveal kind of stole the show, and that felt like a slap in the face...

I saw the gameplay thought it was phenomenal though they showed the same mission I love how you really can tackle it however you want. I missed the Q and A can someone fill me in, was there anything important?

I did find the near-silent protagonist thing to be a little weird but I am all about less dialog in a MGS game. I never was bothered by all the cut-scenes and such until 4. I have nothing but bad memories about that game and it's ridiculously drawn out cut-scenes and technobabble about nanomachines. Please, Kojima, just let me sneak around bases as Big Boss without all that shit.

It was all fluff.

Edit: I'll say this though, right before the Q&A proper, Geoff did ask about the release date, which Kojima wasn't prepared to give.

I think I'm probably in the minority here but all the future tech and support Snake gets is really bumming me out. It feels so out of place for the time and mission.

"From here on out, you're own your own" -Ocelot

Well, except for all the crazy tech and mother base. The ability to call in an air strike isn't my idea of "on your own". Mother Base parachuting in supplies isn't exactly "stealthy". Using the fulton system to grab huge objects looks so ridiculous and the fact that the soldiers can't see or hear a truck getting airlifted out is even worse. Also, using it to remove bodies from the map seems like the easy way out.

In the E3 demo the player gets mother base to drop a box on a guard and nobody notices even though he's hit in an open area during the middle of the day.

I would have liked a truly solo mission, like mgs3. I hope the fulton/mother base stuff is optional.

Agreed. There's nothing "on your own" about Big Boss' mission..

At least we have the option of not using any support, but it's still nice to have it there. Hopefully we'll have to be more careful with fulton on harder difficulty.

I was going to say something similar. You can absolutely play as if you're all on your own. Or you can play with your toys and such.

I could be wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the motherbase stuff we're seeing this early is just for demonstration purposes and in the actual game we work our way up from ground zero to having that kind of power/aid for the player.

So the rescue Miller mission would probably be more old school in style like what we saw in the Sins of the Father trailer, unless we replayed it with new items or whatever. I mean, imagine doing the rescue Miller mission only to fulton him? It wouldn't make dramatic sense, so I have a sneaking suspicion we won't have even redeveloped the fulton system or started upgrading the base properly before we rescue him.

I was thinking this. We start off with jack shit and this Miller rescue is the first mission we've got. Story wise, we most likely wont have much Mother Base support.

just read about how big boss will say very little lines
what the hell is the point of getting kiefer then? kojima you dumbass

I wonder how little is little, considering how much larger and longer The Phantom Pain is in comparison to what we got in Ground Zeroes, which aside from the tapes there was very little actual in-mission dialogue from Big Boss.

yea thanks for the link.

I really do hope they release high quality clip on gamersyde later

Don't mention it!

They almost certainly will. They'll probably upload it - possibly even re-record it to show off the footage in one video - to YouTube and Gamersyde at 30fps and 60fps, respectively!
