Such an inktense round!

Ugh, the one time I actually WANT something from Murch, and it's 30000 fucking G. And of course B rank is kicking my ass.

had a pretty miserable run of the last 20 or so Turf War matches...won 2 and lost the rest (and the losses were all blowouts)...I'm Level 7 so I know I'm pretty crap at the game but it's pretty demoralizing to go into a match and like 10 seconds into it know you're just going to lose badly

also I try to stay around another teammate as much as I can but it's like I almost always get paired up with people who just want to go off on their own and do whatever while the other team stays paired up together and just demolish us one by one...and by doing that they pretty much stay in a constant state of Specials so you're just effed the entire match because you can't go 2 feet without some kind of Special coming at you from every direction

Is some gear time-exclusive or does it rotate every so often? Did the first game have any? I don't want to miss out on exclusive stuff if there is.

I've used no EXP tickets and have already reached Level 26. Part of me wishes I did the exploit just because now I feel like I missed out (lol), but it would have rushed the progression system faster than I want. It is nice seeing the numbers go up, ever so slowly. ... So slowly.

Off the topic of exploits, I'm gonna' drop some #TruthFacts:

Ink Armor is broken

Full stop

How did they make a Special meant to be a fixed Bubbler a stronger Bubbler.

I mean I love (ab)using it just as I loved my Bubbler, but lol at this rebalancing of a broken Special causing something worse.

Loving the rapid blaster. Dudes charging me with their aerosprays and dualies, I'll just sit here out of range shooting over cover

Can teammates see enemies that my mines tag?

For me it's the Gal. People with short range rapid fire weapons overestimate how far they can shot and I just wast them. Probably doesn't help that since short rapid fire weapons are used all the time in Turf War, new players have next to now experience dealing with weapons that have a good range and can kill in two hits.

I really want to get good at the .52 Gal. Medium-to-short-range shooters are still my weakest class of weapon by far (I'm not as good at the insane agility part of Splatoon), but its kit seems good for practice this early on. Gotta practice that splatterdashing a little more in actual battle. Getting a little better these days, just need more experience playing it.

It really feels like one of the first things they're going to nerf, doesn't it? Maybe change it so it only gives Armor to those in close range. Or decrease its active time.

Any reason why the Hero Brella isn't unlocking even though I completed every stage and boss with it? I've gotten the Hero Shot and the Brella is not showing in the shop.

Funny how I remember reading here before that Ink Armor is a garbage version of Bubbler. Now it's the most sought after special in ranked lol.

Their biggest hurdle will be making it useful outside of voice communication, but not nuts like it is now. If they went back to the Bubbler route of only being shared in direct vicinity, I can't see it being very good in Randoms.

Decreasing active time seems like the best way to do things. I don't know it's value right now, but I'm going to spitball it and say it's 3.5 seconds. Drop it to 3. Or 2.75. Or even 2.5.

Totally unsure how it'd work in actual practice, but they could decrease the wind-up time and then also decrease the active time by the same amount. Maybe a bit more.

I can't remember if I was in that camp, but if I was I was dumb lol. Teamwide. Four Ink Armors stacking (quite easily, mind you). I don't look forward to others realizing the same fact. 😅

The normal Brella isn't out yet. Probably in the next week or so, since they rolled out new weapons almost weekly at one point for the first Splatoon.

The problem with the Gal for me is that I don't used the secondary weapon, which is a sensor. I want something offensive for my style.

They stack?

Why is my Classic Squiffer gone, I miss it so much...

I honestly don't get why they put Ink Armor in the game. They really seemed to emphasize that they didn't want to do invincibilities any more. They seemed to want to get rid of the brainless just-jam-this-objective-in-here part of Splatoon. So they designed a bunch of new specials that have to be used really strategically... And then threw in one special that allows people to quickly jam through a wall anyway. Strikes me as a weird design decision.

EDIT:

The weapon definitely bugs me on Sturgeon because it has absolutely nothing to deal with perched chargers and stuff. At least the Splattershot Pro has range. But I like it for practice because it doesn't require as much chasing/leading for kills (2/3 shots) and the Point Sensor is helpful for zoning/aiming. A bomb would be interesting on the weapon, but I don't know if they'll give it one. Nintendo seems nervous about what to give Gal weapons after giving them those Splash Walls in the last game...

I was feeling a sudden onset of intense stomach pain so I was barely paying attention to the match, but my friend told me that we actually had a turf war match where the four of us were on the same team, and we destroyed the other team :o

Sorry, stack is the wrong word. But you can pop one as soon as one ends. And then P3 pops theirs afterwards. And then P4 pops one. And then P1 can pop another...

It will cancel out any ongoing shield if you use your own during the active lifetime of another.

Ah, that's less broken. Still miss my squiffer though. Point sensors and Bubbler was such an amazing support loadout; it'd be just as good with ink armor, I think.

As for balancing ink armor, decreasing windup but making sharing only work in immediate vicinity might be the way to go. Makes it more worthwhile solo, but tones down the team sharing.

The Gal. is great for 1 on 1's but I'm not a fan of the super or ROF. The Aero and its ability to make a huge difference quickly has spoiled me.

Just got "Super Fresh" for the first time ever!

One thing I learned, it's best to leave a group every few games instead of always hitting continue so you can lower the chances of getting new players. At least this is how it works for me.

Don't mock the ball of doom. I have killed so may people with it, especially when they break it and I waste them with my Gal.

I'm gonna assume you mean point sensors, since I don't know how an ink mine would tag someone, and the answer is yes.

Everything is beginning to click for me. I am so glad that I stuck with motion controls through the early frustration (thanks gaf). As someone who has slept on Nintendo since the end of the GameCube era, games like Splatoon are such a breath of fresh air.

The "one more game" principle is so strong with this one. Loving it

EDIT:

It's a group ubercharge but ink armour is pretty easily busted and also it actively ruins stealth while active. Needs a bit more testing but my initial impression is that it's fine. The duration is pretty small too

Ink Mines have a large Point Sensor effect on exploding now. They also don't kill. Even two of them doesn't kill. They're a full utility now. They also last forever, and you can have two on the field. Personally I love them.

Tonight on Tower Control

Watching two people right next to each other on top of the tower failing to kill one another way too many times tonight. It's maddening. Talking 5-6 second shootouts where they're both shooting nonstop and nobody dies.

Ink Armor is really strong, but I'd rather take on Ink Armor over Bubbler any day. IMO the scenario that ChrisD mentioned would be worse to deal with if they had coordinated Bubblers instead of Ink Armor. With that said, yeah Ink Armor is a bit undercosted, so the cost increase to most Ink Armor costs in the recent patch is a good sign.

This is me in nearly every game. Having bad aim sucks. :')

Coordinated play, Bubbler is probably better. But even there you can't underestimate the ability to flank the enemies while simultaneously granting invuln to everyone. From you, to your front liners, to your Sniper without having to even approach danger.

Guess I should research more before answering :p
