Splatoon 2 |OT| Fresh Squids 2 Go

Couldn't hit the Flyfishes to save my life tonight. So many missed attempts, I'm like Shaq on the free throw line.

Had the most frustrating Wave 1 ever, where the team almost immediately split into two groups of two. Followed this guy down to the far end to get one of those Stingray guys (near the grated walkways). Another couple bosses show up, and eventually we have 9 eggs sitting there by the shore. And he REFUSED TO EVER LEAVE AND DROP OFF AN EGG. Dude, I get that you're protecting them. But now there are, like, 12 eggs sitting here, and I've run 5 trips already. And the other two people are off doing gawd knows what.

The guy eventually got killed while I was making a run back to the basket and we didn't make quota. Frickin' idiot.

All right I'm about to jump in to play within the hour. Got to practice for #TeamMayo!

If anyone gets matched with me and thinks I'm terrible, please let me know what I can do to improve. Besides selling the game.

You'll be less likely to see disconnects when you get high into the ranked battles or league because more good players will tend to be using better/wired connections and not taking rank-loss due to disconnects.

I've spent 70+ hours in game and am at level 28. At what point do I get to experience fewer disconnects? How much more time do I need to put into this before the matchmaking gets better, as you've described? Why am I being punished for trying to play this game?

I just used the app and decided to check out the upcoming Splatfest when I found out that you can see which team your friends are in.

6 for Team Mayo

13 for Team Ketchup

You people disgust me.

ALL MY TEAMS SUCK

Seriously, I just lost a 4v3 match a few minutes ago. 2 of my teammates kept spreading their ink over the same area over and over. I hate this games sometimes, I love it though.

My friend list is worse. 10 for Superior Mayo, and 29 for Chicken tendies ketchup.

I bought on the South Africa eShop to play some hours early but my friends apparently all went with the US version, so I'm the only one listed on the app. Yeah, didn't even think about splatfests at the time :v

That's 1 for #TeamTechnicallyJamButNotReally btw

14?!?!?!?!

I don't think I have you in my friend's list so I guess it is 14.
Okay which one of you in this thread was the one that drew this?

Also no they're not.

God damn. Got crushed all night before heading out. Came back and Salmon Run went back to usual. Just beat my record of 69 by 2 for a total of 71!

What's up with people rushing in to kill in turf war? Why am I the only one painting our own base at the start? Isn't it important to ensure you have multiple entry points before the fight starts and during the fight? Is there some strategy I am unaware of?

Played several games last night, and no one seem to care about painting their own base...

your base gets painted throughout the game as people inevitably die. They aren't rushing for kills, they're rushing for control of the center.

Edit: was in queue so I just rushed the post.

You're right that you want different paths to the center, but it doesn't need to be full blown total cover. You can have four people go four different directions to different prime positions, and then the rest gets covered throughout the game. Getting a team of four people covering your base on spawn is like forfeiting the center. Think about if you did so in Splat Zones (King of the Hill). It's the same in Turf War.

So, am I doing it wrong?

I'm really asking. My average points in turf war is about 700, with 7-8 kills per game, but I can't seem to get it higher, so should I be following my team to fight to control the centre at the start?

The middle is what usually decides the battle. Every time u die u can reprint your turf on the way back to the middle.

Time and level are irrelevant in this, I mentioned ranked modes specifically for a reason. Turf War is always going to have those issues.

And that's still not matchmaking's doing nor its responsibility.

There is no WRONG (unless, like I said, everyone is staying back) way to play Turf War, but generally speaking you should get to contesting the center sooner rather than later. This can mean claiming side paths into enemy territory, or keeping your flanks safe while painting your side behind you. Doesn't have to mean you have to go full kill mode.

Some stages it helps a lot to have one fast painter stay back to ink everything on your side, Moray Towers for instance. It's not inherently bad to have one dude stay back. But other maps, like Musselforge Fitness, your base is so small that it can be painted through a bomb or a few shots every time someone respawns, and the center is super important.

I would say try to follow your team (or ink up a new, quick path alongside them) for a few games just so you can see what they're doing.

I feel like the Splattershot has been the only viable weapon for me. I'm talking scoring sub 1000 with every other weapon, every time. Kinda sucks tbh
You can't get a higher score with faster inking weapons like n-zap or aerospray? N-zap even has ink armor which lets you tank your way into enemy territory.

Omg did they really take out the Echo-locator and the Kraken -_- thats just silly

Loving this game nonetheless

Echolocator caused too much of a "well, guess I can't do anything for 10~ seconds" situation

Kraken was dumb

The former got replaced with Tenta Missiles showing you people's lock-on until the Missiles all land, and the former (along with Bubbler) got pseudo-replaced with Ink Armor.

Kraken wasn't dumb, it was really good

Easy to counter, easy to run away from, easy to do good with depending on the situation. There was also the element of not knowing if the enemy you're shooting at was going to turn into a Kraken out of no where and get your ass. Made for some tense moments. Kraken on the tower in TC in the last seconds could mean the difference between a win or a loss

Just a strange omission.

Tenta Missiles is a pretty good progression of Echo-locator now that you broke it down, but ink-armor doesn't cut it to fill in that Kraken niche

Finally got to play Salmon Run! Really fun. I wish it was tied into the normal progression, that you could like level up your gear like in versus. Playing it in bed while on the phone with my buddy was rad, and I can't wait to try it on my TV.

Anyone had any success with one of the 8bitdo controllers and Splatoon 2? It seems like it wouldn't work very well due to the shoulder buttons but that Famicom controller looks so badass.

I think Kraken's more replaced by the plastic ball that you can walk up walls with and leaves a trail of your ink behind you. It looks dumb and it's pretty bad tbh.

Goldie Seeking is complete bullshit. Impossible to win unless you get lucky.

I can almost always find it rather quickly, you just have to shoot a fountain and if it's glowing brightly but he doesn't pop up then he is very close to it, almost always in the one right next to it on either side. If you shoot one and it doesn't glow brightly, try one much further away. I've had pretty good success on Goldie rounds recently after just saying fuck it and being more willing to shoot the fountains. Previously I was way too hesitant and didn't quite understand what was going on.

Appears i'm missing out, i haven't even played salmon run yet, just been playing ranked for the most part. Having a great time though.
