This game is so ridiculously fun, I had to pull myself away from it.

Having this experience in a portable form factor is game changing

I tried them the first thing when I started the game...and they were not available!

You do get a pretty funny message from one of them. I'm guessing you need to beat single player to use them properly.
Ah, okay! I thought that might be the case, lol.

Spoiler sensitivity has come a long way.
Some people like to actually be surprised, is that a bad thing? The Squid Sisters are obviously involved with the game's plot, and if the amiibo functionality would spoil something before I get to see it in single player then I'd rather hold off on it. The Callie and Marie amiibo were the only ones with their functionality details embargoed, so I assumed it's possible that it's a bit spoilery. Apparently that must be the case if they're locked until you beat single player, anyway.

Thanks for the helpful reply.

Final question to anyone that knows, is it at all possible to change your sub and special ability? Like mix and match?

To give you an example there's a weapon I like but I hate the Ink armour as the special ability, I'm assuming I'm stuck with it. I'd love to swap it for the curling-bomb launcher.

If so it's a damn shame, it would be great if you could literally mix and match to your hearts desire.
No; and ultimately, for balance reasons, it's for the best. However, weapons have different variations with identical behavior but different loadouts. The earliest example of this is the tentatek splattershot, which has splat bombs and ink jet, compared to the normal version's burst bombs and splashdown.

Nintendo already told too much of the story before launch. Nothing that happens is surprising.

I'm not fond of the Sting Ray special. You would think it one-shots anyone who gets hit, but you'd be wrong. Plus it's kinda slow. Maybe I just gotta git gud...

So what's exactly the point of the 3 minute bonus in turf wars? The matches always last three minutes. I understand it for the ranked battles, but turf war?

I'm really unsure how this exactly works. I see others move that thing all across the map, but I can't move that thing an inch...

I made it to Profreshional in Salmon Run and I keep losing points since the game either throws me in alone or only with one person, which makes it impossible. I'm guessing not enough people have made it to this level for me to match up with.

I'm good at Splatoon and got 399'd by a team that absolutely curb stomped us. It was humiliating but I had no path to escape!

Disappointed to hear that it's tough to play in handheld mode :-(

It's my preferred method of playing Splatoon 2. I'm not a big fan of the Switch Pro Controller with this game for some reason. I'm also not using motion controls. I hope they patch in motion controls similar to Zelda.

I tried to do a Salmon Run locally with another person, and we were unable to connect to each other. We tried disconnecting from any wifi networks, having each other host, each tried having one person use the dock, no one being docked, keeping controllers attached to disable wireless interference, restarting the machines, nothing let us connect to each other. The host was always able to make a match, but the joiner always got a message saying that the host console was unresponsive, or could not be connected to. Same messages when trying private battle. Verified that Splatoon version and system firmware version were all the same.

Has anyone else been able to get local wireless play working? Any other thoughts about what we should try?

Other games DO work wirelessly, plus we've each gone online before, so we don't think it's the machines.

The way the ink affects the lighting of the surrounding environment is really neat.

Yeah, it eludes me too. Guess practice is in order.

Why does it feel like I'm being teamed up with Call of Duty players or players who doesn't get how to win a turf war match?

Also, how come I can't find players for a Salmon run match? I'm even opting to be the host.

Ye I'm not sure what sucks more, not knowing how far the rabbit hole goes or this matchmaking system.

Anyone having trouble with their Physical pre-order promised delivery on release date from Amazon US?

I'm a Prime member & I pre-ordered the game weeks ago..
I was promised guaranteed delivery on release date, & the game was shipped yesterday with Amazon Logistics, but for the past 30 hours the only tracking update I see is:
'Package has left seller facility and is in transit to carrier'

I contacted Amazon & they told me the carrier hasn't received the shipment yet & asked me to wait for at least 2 more days before they can refund me or send me a replacement -which they can't do since the game is temporarily out of stock >__< - .

Extremely worried here..
Sorry if this was discussed before in the thread.

This makes it seem like you're trying to play locally. Salmon Run online is to the left of the main multiplayer lobby.

After 2 hours of hunting, I found a Switch. I got Splatoon 2 and ARMS. The process of setting up the Switch was a million times easier and quicker than the Wii U. Best the first world in single player and Im updating the game to start turf wars. Marie is pretty well written and I enjoy her in the Single-player mode. Took me maybe 30 minutes to adjust to the controls. I played the original a lot but it had been over a year since I last played it on Wii U. Not too mention I just got the Switch as well. However, with the controller attachment for the Joy Cons it's been pretty easy.

He probably needs Super Sea Snails which you get from SplatFests, but there hasn't been a splatfest yet.
So that means I'm stuck with only one out've three abilities for most gear until Splatfests? That...sucks. That really sucks. I feel so weak. :/

Also: If I link my nintendo account to the app, can I thn link it to another mobike device? I only have a temp one that I may have to give up soon.

Also just randomly had a friendin private match. I wish there was a one on one with randoms because that was interesting to play.

So is this a good game to play in short bursts? A la arms? I have no idea about this game haha
As long as you have the will power. With the original, I told myself I'd only play one quick match. Before I knew it, I'd be on my 10th match realizing that I have to stop.
