The point of the game isn't how many kills or deaths, it's about covering the ground with your ink.

That method of thinking is why 2 of my team mates are constantly respraying the area around our spawn when everyone NEEDS to be pushing the center so we can reclaim the largest amount of captured land.

This mentality of "it doesn't matter if I get killed as long as I cover ground" has poisoned the minds of new people playing this game. You can't cover ground if you're dead. If the team wipes, then you lose everything and you spend the rest of the match trying to fight out of your spawn.

This is also why you don't paint your base upon spawning, by the way.

Please don't paint your base upon spawn.
Please do make the smallest possible line to your intended position.
Be it Tower Control, Splat Zones, Rainmaker, or even Turf War.

THANK YOU! Geeze. I see people using that "free real estate" meme for painting behind the spawn early and I'm like, "no man, YOU'LL NEED THAT LATER!"

Sure, but if you make a heroic run into the other team's territory (marking all the way) and then get killed at the end of it without getting any kills, you did a good thing. It would have been better if you got kills, but it's not like you were useless.

Taking that rainmaker all the way home when nobody looking is the most satisfying thing. We were down 14-0 and took one all the way through the backdoor.

Finally gave ranked mode a try... this is fun as fuck, wow. And here I thought turf war would be all I need.

I immediately understand all the posts raging at bad team mates though. You can really tell who does and doesn't understand what the objective in Rainmaker is.

Edit: Unrelated, but I have an old HDTV and I'm getting some moderate burn-in from the round timer and special ability gauge UI. It goes away after a while and is mostly only noticeable when it's displaying a solid color so I don't really mind but, it's funny to see. I'm getting cooked, this game has me on the hook :X

The dreams came quick. Splatoon while I wake. Splatoon while I sleep. And I've been daydreaming at work of Splatoon.

The fever has returned. Selling my Wii U just increased my insatiable need to be a kid now squid now.

I'm feeling pretty good looking at my stats. 32 out of 50 of the last 50 battles have been a victory.

I am so happy that people are seeing the light and realizing that Rainmaker is the best ranked mode.

I'm starting to like Splat Zones more, except on Moray where a 2 sniper/2 dually combo is pretty OP and I find it hard to not get ganked. On Rainmaker the games either last 30 seconds or 5 minutes, which can get annoying if you're on the losing end.

The only sad thing is you can't give props to the dude that paved the way for you. You're on the total same page and boom that's it off to another match made group.

Edit: fucking just took one from 5 away on Moray all the way to theirs, team paved the fucking way, I'm so amped, that was magic

Finally finished Hero Mode, and with Salmon Run closed for now, I can finally concentrate on Multiplayer.

HM SPOILER:
Nice Final Boss, especially replaying it with the different dialogue, but was a little disappointed because I was expecting/hoping to actually FIGHT Callie at some point.

They are both important. You need a mix. More than a few of my battles have been won due to the unpainted space on your opponents half of the map. I switch off how I play depending on what I feel is needed.

God damn is ranked hard. What determined your placement in your overall team after the match is over? It's clearly not kills for any of the modes.

These poor C- kids don't know how bad you can cheese Moray Rainmaker. No one is climbing the left wall to get a free 20 points and no one is guarding the ink rails. I'm getting more knockouts than a Punch Out speed run.

Level 9. Three wins in a row. Now I have to try and get my head around ' ability chunks'.

Do you find you perform better in handheld mode over docked mode, or vice versa?

I have played 90% of my games in handheld mode so I'm more comfortable in it.

Man getting beat so many times in a row sucks. Feels like the majority of the teams I play with don't know wtf they're supposed to be doing.

Having fun with the splat charger tonight

I suck but it feels cool sniping in this game

And that wall hack gun is neat

Do you guys really need to qoute all those pics....

First 50 done. It's been a pretty rocky road so far. But that's nothing new for Splatoon really.

Also I love having stats for Splatoon now. This stuff is seriously addicting.

What is the max "fresh" rank in regular battle? I'm referring to the green arrow under your stats on the Lobby screen. I'm currently on "Superfresh" with a rating of 16.0. Is there a higher rank?

Guys, I finally did it. My meter went back twice because of the losses. One more defeat and it would happen again but with a little bit of perceverence, I finally broke through the C-tier!

Dammit, I only leveled up to C+.

I was having the craziest streak and then all of a sudden fat thumbs McGee decides he's gonna be a sniper that plays like a roller. Just walking forward short shots...like he's playing a really shitty shotgun.

So frustrating. I always seems to get 26/24 or 24/26 for my win record. Not sure if it's telling me that I am average or I have a 50/50 chance of getting a decent team.

Just finished up the Single Player content, with picking up all the scrolls and salmonium but Splatnet only says I have like 34% completion.

Do I really need to go through and play all the stages with each weapon?

It's always the latter.

One person no matter how good they are can't make a team win if their teammates don't know how to play.

The more important stat to look at I guess is how close the games are.

Aerospray really needs to have its ink usage doubled to make up for its fire rate

otherwise its just a repeat of Splatoon 1 turf war where EVERYONE is using it

Did enjoy the single player content, but it felt shorter, easier, and with less creative ideas. Between it's state and the lack of amiibo challenges it's really obviously how short the developement time likely was on the title.

Is there any way I can see how many hours I've put into Splatoon 2 so far? I've had a Switch for as long as Splatoon 2, so I am still figuring it out.

When you see people here who have 30 to 35 games won out of 50, it's hard not to think you're doing something wrong despite my states being fairly good, especially in the number of kills.

Although, it's a red flat when a Gal, one of the slowest guns in the game, scores better than some of the rapid fire guns or the Roller.

Ok. I've only played Turf Wars. What are the other objectives if you don't mind.

The mode cycles same time the stages do. When in the lobby, look on the right side for what is the current mode.

Splatzones: There are one or two patches on the stage that you need to paint and protect. Hold it until your score reaches zero to win.
Tower Control: A tower will move along a track when it has a player one it. Ride it all the way to the goal to win.
Rainmaker: Pop the Rainmaker's shield and then grab the Rainmaker and run to the enemy goal. Dunk the Rainmaker in it to win.

All modes have score values the closer you get to accomplishing the objective. Whoever gets closest when time's up wins.

These upcoming Salmon Run times are wack. Won't be able to play until Friday/Saturday.

No Splatoon, I've got a fucking job. I don't have time to play Salmon Run between 1am and 1pm.

Gotcha. I've been playing nothing but turf wars!
