Your Inkling looks great! Love the color scheme with the skin tone, hair and jacket!

went from 38W - 12L to 27W-23L, holy fucking shit being first in the losing team and having painted more than the first place of the winning team means nothing if the rest of the team fucks up :(

Just found out motion controls don't work if you're laying down on your back with the Switch held above your face. Just end up looking at the sky. Calibrating doesn't work either. Lame.

Not sure I like each mode having it's own rank. Having to play with scrubs through C- rank hell three times over is infuriating. B is bad enough.

What's the reason for not being able to change weapons during a match - and not even between matches without quitting out of the lobby? I find this rather irritating.

I love it, actually, as my skill level in each mode is uneven enough that if I rank up with one, a shared rank would disincentivize playing the others.

I barely ever played Rainmaker in Splatoon 1 (it arrived when I was no longer playing that actively) but took it up to B in no time today. It was a breeze—knockout after knockout. Meanwhile, I'm still struggling in C in the other two, though Splat Zones is starting to come together.

I adore Rainmaker, by the way: easily my favourite of the 4v4 modes. I think I perform better in it because I have a better intuition for how the positioning is supposed to work. At the lower ranks there's some frustration involved when teammates clearly don't know how how bursting the shield works, or don't make good tactical choices for when to do it, or just don't cooperate in clearing a path, but I find that making good decisions about where to ink and where to engage pays off immediately here and makes up for my middling mechanical skills.

Doing all the missions with the Hero Brella doesn't give you the weapon for multiplayer even though the game says it does. Noice.

That's unfortunate. I didn't see an umbrella silhouette in the shop and was planning to clear the campaign a second time with the Hero Brella first in case that was the only way to get it in the multiplayer at the moment. Glad somebody else checked.

B- is definitely a bump in difficulty in comparison with C+, had a few games before and they were intense as hell

One question: is the score you get in ranked games purely based on ink coverage as in Turf War?

People playing tower control on C+ are unbelievably dumb. Can't wait until I grind up to the higher ranks and no longer losing while having >50% of the entire teams splats combined.

Yeah but then when you reach equilibrium by definition you'll spend roughly 50% of your time getting owned

Maybe I missed the answer: does the league mode remain unlocked once you reach B-, or does it disappear if you go back to C levels?

Just found out they track win rates for individual map/mode in the Splatnet App, this is very cool! aaaand I have a 17% win rate on Inkblot lol, my best performance is on Starfish Mainstage with 65%.

as someone who isn't great at ranked, I can't wait for you to rise out of C rank as well.

How are you rated in Rank battle? I do okay, but I most get last or second to last and I have no idea what I am being score on.

If the game goes until the timer runs out, points are assigned based on the maximum extent to which you pushed the objective (distance for Tower/Rainmaker, time for Zones). If it's a KO, the winner gets a bonus and the loser gets nothing. After that, there are bonuses for time, 100 points per minute—i.e. if you lose to a KO in under a minute, you get 0p, but if you held out for over 4 minutes, you get 400p.

When I was in C+ I found I was only matched with people from C- to C+, and when I was in B- I was only matched with those from B- to B+. I don't know if this is always true, but it wasn't the case in the original game, I don't think. But that accounts for why it's a noticeable jump. Once I was up in the B range, I saw a lot more players at level 20+ with hero replica weapons from the campaign. I'd estimate these are players with over 30 hours in the bank already after just a few short days.

Oh Lordy I finally made it to B- in Tower Control.

Can we talk some more about how absolutely stupid it is to have Salmon Run be timed events? By the time i can play it next it'll have been 5 days since I was able to play the mode. And it's the best way to get coins, so fucking stupid. But par for the course for Nintendo I guess. I'm concerned I'm going to burn out on the game if I only play Ranked/Turf and rarely get to play my favorite mode 😩

My internet net just went out for TWENTY MINUTES!!'

FFS Do you not understand that the best game of all time is now out? STFU internet.

Now back to Splatoon 2. Stupid internet.

Edit: IT WENT OUT AGAIN WHILE POSTING. ITS NOW BACK UP. IF IT GOES DEAD AGAIN I'LL GO INSANE!

MUST PLAYSPLAOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!

Is there a way to play 2 player (one switch) Splatoon like we could in the first one?

I can't seem to find where you can, tried the Shawl to start a local game but it doesn't work.

So I made it to Rank B- in Rainmaker. Does League Battle stay unlocked forever, or will I lose access to it if I go below that rank?

Oh yes, thanks but maybe I didn't make myself very clear: I was talking about the personal score you get in ranked games, not the team global one. You can check your personal score in the Splatnet app, but I don't know if it's affected by other factors besides ink coverage

This hasn't been answered yet. It's not exactly easy to intentionally test, as many people are unwilling to intentionally derank or already have multiple B-'s. Additionally, it takes a while to get to that point, so it's not like anyone's gonna make a smurf account to try it real quick when the game came out half a week ago.

Haha I feel you, I got home yesterday to find my internet is down, and they're not sending an engineer to fix it until Wednesday evening. I'm going cold turkey right now...

Rainmaker mode and tower seem pretty balls, I can't tell you how many games I've lost in a row and getting 0 points for it is horrible for trying to level, gonna stay outta that crap till I'm a level 50 elite xD

Pisses me off being first or second every time on my team and having the bottom 2 or 3 getting like 50 points wtfbbq!?

Also we need Salmon Run 24/7 this 2pm/8pm end time crap is horrible, I miss one, and after dinner etc barely catch the other.

Salmon Run is my favourite followed by Turf War, then Zone Control was fun, but Tower and Rainmaker are just fucking awful and having it end after 30 seconds and getting zero is bs.

Tower control and Rainmaker aren't usually like that every match, try giving them another shot on different maps. Rainmaker is my personal favorite mode! Also keep in mind winning in ranked nets you quite a bit more points than winning in Turf War. If you can keep a decent win rate, you'll level faster that way.

Sucker Bombs on Tower Control sucks along with those stupid mission special. Also, the Respawn Punisher is extremely good for rank. Those couple of extra seconds really makes a different.

Lol. Just won a match because the other team didn't ink their turf. I thought we lost for sure, and we were having a hard time the whole way through. We managed to push at the end, but it didnt seem like enough. However, when the final map showed up, it was clear one guy with a roller is all that went down on their section in Morray Towers. Felt good.
