Glad many people are enjoying this, I want it but can't swing the cash at the moment when I already played the original so much.

Obviously S2 happened because Wii U died and they needed something FRESSHHHH for Switch but I wonder if Nintendo will break their rarely broken one game per platform rule and put out a Splatoon 3 in 2019/2020 for Switch. It's that type of game. Provide 12+ months of support and I wouldn't complain.

What's the opinion on single player? Really enjoyed it on the OG Splatoon.

I wish I could buy pants. I want new pants dammit!

Buying clothes in Splatoon is super addictive.
It really is, i got a decent set for ranked etc, but for regular mode i go full fashion mode and pick my outfit based on looks.

A nice pear of light blue jeans, boots and my new black leather jacket would be great.

Thermal Ink on Jet Squelcher is sooooo good. I'm loving it, can actually lead my shots and get splats easier.

that's a good idea

I got the jet squelcher yesterday with poison mist and tenta missiles. this might become one of my mains. was tearing shit up in splat zones.

Geez that was a close match in the second round. I think we had like 3 fucking steelheads in a row coming out of the water next to each other, still not sure how we made it out of that alive.

Thanks. Wonder if they can top the final boss?!?

They did music/cinamatic wise atleast imo.
The boss itself depends honestly i myself liked it better, it is easier tho.

Both Splatoon's final bosses are good in their own ways tho still and i love em. Some of the coolest final bosses presentation and design wise in years.

Edit: oh and music wise:P

Can someone answer a question for me please.

If I have Splatoon 2 and want to party up with a friend, can we then matchmake and play online?.

(I understand this all done via the app etc).

I'm even happy to use Discord for chat and just use the app/game for matchmaking with friends, but all of the videos/info I have found so far is making it look like you CAN'T matchmake with friends.

Can someone clear this up for me?

Is there any real reason to play Splatoon 2's single player? I'm gonna be away, and I thought I might play through it. Is there anything to unlock for MP? I heard something about hero weapons. Do they have better stats than your standard weapons?

If you want to play a regular match, you'll just have to join him in progress (or he'll have to join you in progress). And then half the time you won't be on the same team. It's infuriating.

For casual play you can play woth friends but wont be guaranteed to be on the same side.

For competitive, get to B- rank to unlock league battles, you can play in groups of 2 or 4 (not 3).

You can't party up and matchmake until A. You hit level ten and B. Get rank B-.

Even then you can only group up for the sweaty League Play mode, not Regular Battle. It's terrible. Nintendo needs to enter this decade when it comes to online multiplayer.

Aside from hero weapons (which I'm unsure of their stats and loadouts) you also get tickets for Crusty Sean. I haven't gotten them anywhere else, but I heard you can get them from Salmon Run as well, but Single Player isn't locked to specific times.

I think they'll keep updating this one, and in three or four years they might have a major update a la AC New Leaf (though DLC singleplayer campaign would be dope).

Still haven't finished the singleplayer, but I love how the overworld is essentially a platforming challenge. Also, some levels were really difficult.

Saw this today:

So if you lose a ranked match because you have a teammate DC early on it won't count against you... At least there's some level of protection there. I have no idea if that was also in the first game or not.
It was, you would only lose 1 rank point if a teammate DC'ed.

Have I been misunderstanding the respawn punisher ability this entire time? The players who splat YOU get a penalty when they die? How quickly do they have to die for this to take effect?

On top of it automatically penalizing you, this ability is unfortunately trash it seems like. :/

Really thought it was the players you splat get a penalty. What's the fucking point?

Neat. Thanks for your opinions. Hope I can pick this one up sometime :).

Today's run:
Carbon Roller
Spray-o-Matic
Tri-Slosher
Charger

Carbon Roller's the only one I feel is bad. Can't even roll over Chum like the regular Roller. :s

Woof, that sounds awful. The roller being able to OHKO small salmonid was like the only thing good about it. Take that away and I'd rather have anything else.

At least there's more ranged weapons this time.

Sure would be nice if Salmon Run was on at a time when I wasn't at work.

Maybe the next one will be better, oh wait 1am to 1pm.

Just bought the game a couple days ago and figured this is a good place for questions:

1. Is there a consensus on motion vs analog controls?
2. Do clothing items affect play?
3. Can you teleport around the map? I keep seeing that.
4. Can you be hit while swimming in ink?
5. Is there a place that describes the various numbers and icins that appear in the UI? I can only understand a handful based on context.

Thanks!

Nintendo has already confirmed they are gonna drop support in 1 year and drop the splatfests in 2 years btw.

Really thought it was the players you splat get a penalty. What's the fucking point?

Respawn Punisher is a double-edged sword. It increases the respawn time of any enemy you kill (but NOT assist kill) whilst you are wearing it by 0.75 s, in addition to increasing the special gauge loss upon death. However, whilst you wear it, the same effects also apply to you when YOU die, even, if they aren't wearing Respawn Punisher.

So it's both. If you're a good slayer-type player and don't die often, punisher can give your team the edge for longer. Otherwise, if you find yourself dieing often, it might be better to avoid using it.

Only that's not what the in game description of it says. Nor the Direct video. They say the penalty is for players that splat YOU. Not who you splat.

That's what I need clarification on.

Most people will say that motion is better, but for low level play analog only is fine. No reason not to practice with the motion controls though if you like them.

Clothing have abilities that enhance your character. Make sure to check which ones a piece of clothing has before you buy it.

You can jump to allies on the map. Press X to bring up the map and hit the dpad direction corresponding with the player you want to jump to. Be warned, the enemy can see where you're going to land, so if you make a bad call and jump into danger, you're toast.

You can totally be hit while swimming.

That cant be true. Ive traded many times with the respanw punisher and I always spawn first. Unless it affects me but the penanlty isnt as bad.

Are you implying Splatoon 2 wouldn't have happened otherwise? Are you mad??

The Direct video is wrong, and was pointed out by many people in the community on twitter etc.

So for clarification, whilst you wear it, it will punish anyone YOU kill with a 0.75s longer respawn time and increased special loss. It will also apply the same effects to you when you are killed by any player, regardless of whether the enemy is also wearing Punisher or not.

EDIT: misread. Don't know on that one. Will investigate more

Had a nice streak of Salmon Run wins. People are starting to get the picture. My team got 50 orbs in one match.

DFlf3EcVwAASGZ-

So jus hit lvl four.
I like the look of the dualies since i mostly run and gun.
Using the splattershot atm and it seems ok.
Is it worth investing in dualies or a splat roller?

The in game description is incorrect too then? Cause it's worded the same exact way as the Direct.

Try out both in the shop. The dualies are good 1v1 because of the roll, but the range is lacking compared to the spattershot. Roller is good for painting and getting surprise kills. If someone knows you're coming though, you're dead.

But weapons are cheap and money is very plentiful, so you might as well just buy everything.

Its posible that it works like the fast respawn perk, it only applies if you didnt splat anyone before dying.

Thermal Ink on Jet Squelcher is sooooo good. I'm loving it, can actually lead my shots and get splats easier.

Been running this too. Losing B-Bombs and Attack Up perks exposed my Jet Squelcher horribly. Thermal Ink somewhat mitigates the low TTK, and I'm playing the gun more appropriately.

Thermal Ink is pretty good on Gatling too, but I think Ink and Run Speed perks are too important to drop.

I WISH Thermal Ink applied to Sprinklers.

This game made me have a dream about real life paint ball. I remember having a fresh green zip up flight suit and everything.
Time to break out my gear and real life splat! Anyone here paintball? it's a ton of fun if you haven't tried it. :D

Salmon Run is probably the best thing about gaming recently...

Yeah it's so much fun! I don't understand the leveling system. Does the game get harder the more you rank up? Or does that just affect your "pay"? I heard a lot about the difficulty in Salmon Run, were they talking about settings in local mode - or does it it eventually get much harder in online?

The pay grade percentage is the difficulty level. I think ranking is more for bonuses

Depending on your performance it will get harder. So if your team is getting just the minimun or a bit over the minimun amount of eggs required, the sificulty wont change that much
