Yeah tbh I bet I could find some of my early splatoon posts on a branduil level

I'll go dig some up later and see lol

Now I'm very Zen

Possibly ink resistant clothing, at earlier levels most didn't have any.
I'd be curious to know who has any at higher levels, I don't remember seeing a single ink resistance ability this time...

So yes, if that happens (and it's not a special), I'd like to know why.

Ink Resistance Up is still in the game. I have a 3-star leather jacket with Ink Resistance as two of the subs - it's garish and not at al fresh but I use it every match regardless.

Does "ink resistance up" affect defense? I thought it was motion on opponent ink? I stand corrected

This game is amazing, also it feels great to dominate the score lists just because nobody knows how to play yet lol. Bought it yesterday and feel like I'll spend a loooot of time with it in the future.

I thought ink resist just reduced damage and reduced the move loss in enemy ink

It's different to def up

Huh, I stand corrected then. I could have sworn I was taking less damage. Maybe I'm just getting better!

How the hell are you guys racking up meal tickets?

Go to the entrance of 2-6 in October Canyon (not inside the level, but in Octo Canyon where you access the level). Smash the boxes in front of you, jump down, and then jump down to your right. Smash the orange box for a meal ticket. Exit Onto Canyon to Inkopolis, then rinse and repeat.

Infinite meal tickets.

I feel like everyone knows how to play except me, haha. Like coming to CS without having palyed any online shooter before...
I am mostly last or second to last :( Sorry team, I am doing my best.

Wow there's a way to cheat for tickets lol gotta try it out later.

After you jump down, it's in a crate on the right actually.

There's another one for cash boost next to 5-27, above the roller.

Apologies, it is on the right indeed.

Yeah they've definitely got rid of the old defence up buff, damage up too. There's bomb resist up and special damage up now instead, which is less OP. As to the original post about bouncing off someone with a roller that triggered this discussion, they were probably using a carbon roller, that one isn't OHKO when you roll into someone.

I'm B rank in all the ranked modes but I always feel like the suckiest member of my team now. I'm really struggling to be useful as a roller. Is anyone having success as a roller in higher ranks?

Looks like I've got to pick up a new weapon and learn to aim. Disgusting.

The only time I've ever played Splatoon before was in the current Splatfest/Test run demos. I'm mostly talking about "paint the field, don't hunt the enemy" type things, controls are a different beast :D They clicked for me, but I could do muuuch better.

Still I got a lot of MVP thingies, just because so many have absolutely no idea what the game is about, seemingly lol

Anyone know if there will be a good way to upgrade one-star stuff to higher star-levels? I have some good gear now, but it's just so... ugly.

Yeah, you should be able to upgrade them at Murch once you hit a higher level, either with cash or participation rewards from splatfests.

It is kind of amazing how the game has been out for several days and a lot of people don't seem to grasp the basics still. I'm still seeing Turf Wars were teams are leaving huge sections unpainted. I know it's not the usual shooter, but still

classic rage

man at least that fucking mall isn't back. that thing was a sniper's dream.

Man am i glad there's no invincible supers. branduil if you think you're pissed now imagine what it was like playing when 3/4ths of every squid you'd go after would turn invincible just before you killed them

Weird since it's one thing the game actually tells you do to (and how).

Honestly I'd say at least a good 50%+ of the matches I've played have seen my team-mates run off into the distance to shoot the other team whilst I'm left there painting the huge swathes of land around our base.

I'm working under the assumption that the people who play it as CoD will get bored and move along to a traditional shooter soon enough.

i feel like i should do one of those increasing mind memes

lvl 1: run away and shoot the other squids
lvl 2: stay at home base and paint base
lvl 3: actually path to enemy and paint base on respawn because free easy non-contested turn to power up specials is worth more mid-game than early
lvl 4: run away and shoot the other squids

Ink resistance, at least in the first game, reduces both the movement penalty in enemy ink, as well as the rate of damage, and maximum damage, enemy ink will do to you by standing in it.

In the first game, you can take up to 50.0 points of damage standing in ink, at a rate of 30p per second. Ink resistance reduced that to a max of 30p at a rate of 12p per second.

Hard to inagine why it wouldn't do the aame in splatoon 2, outside of the fact that it will scale in effect depending on how many mains and subs of Ink Resistance you are wearing...

Since getting this I've noticed just how badly my left joycon suffers with the disconnect issue. Is the only way to resolve it to log a support case with Nintendo or something and send it off to them?

If it's the beginning of the match then they're doing nothing wrong, leave the base unpainted so who died first can fill their special faster after respawn.

I didn't really see many rollers in B rank, most of them seemed to swap to the octobrush.

Yikes, lost like 7 turf wars in a row pretty badly. Gonna play another game for a moment before I lose my sanity.

My biggest personal problem is I'm very bad about giving myself ink to maneuver which is usually what gets me killed. It's less of an issue in Turf War, but in ranked I'll often trap myself because I don't take a moment to ink my feet and give myself breathing room. So skirmishes where I should be able to retreat and get the upper hand, I just get stuck in enemy ink, flounder, and die.

Something to work on I suppose.

So I'm scratching my head over why Mr Grizz only speaks to you through a radio

We assume he's a grizzly bear, yet the game can't show him because the lore explained that the only surviving mammals are Judd and lil' Judd. For some reason I came to think that he survived by staying in the cooler just under the bear statue/radio. Because you know, bears dying because of global warming and stuff.

I'm probably wrong, but then again : where is he ?

I wish my teammates had never been born. It is impossible for me to ever level up in this fucking mode. I want my money back from Nintendo since I'll never be able to play Team League.
😂 I was having trouble with Rank so I switched to the Dualies with Tentarockets and equipped faster special meter clothing then just spammed my ultra. I won like 7 games in a row. This obviously won't work in higher ranks I think but I guess it's worth a try if you want to cheese to B-.

Same for me... I can still do a 3-kill from time to time by surprising them, but I do respawn a lot because the normal roller is slow (but I love curling bombs :( )

It's been a while since I played the first game, but I don't quite remember Tower Control straight up being a Suction Bomb spamfest.

I've been using a n-zap 89 the few times I did turf war in Splatoon 1 so of course I'm going in with the 85 in every Splatoon 2 game and accidentally found it to be great in Tower Control which I never actually played before.

Now I'm starting to think I should get some gear to utilize them better, or that defends me against them more.

The receiver is in the upper left corner of your joycon. It's not ideal, but if you rest your finger on the trigger instead of over the L1 bumper button, it should give you some more range.

Nothing wrong with that, especially in the beginning. You want to have adequate movement options from your base to parts of the map as quickly as possible, but apart from that it's fine to leave a lot of it unpainted and focus on getting control of important, central points. This is what will allow you to comfortably paint the rest of your base as the match progresses.
