Man, I probably shouldn't share this tidbit, but if you ever think an amiibo is hard to find, try going to a Meijers. Hadn't seen any of the Splatoon 2 amiibos anywhere since release, and I was just browsing at Meijers, and was able to get Inkling girl, boy and squid.

How do you use it effectively? It's hard to kill with, can't lay down paint well and the special move sucks
Well, two things here; I'm talking more about ranked, since that's all I ever play and I tend to forget Turf War exists, and I'm still leaning on my knowledge of the original since this game is so new. While the carbon has a narrower trail, I believe it's faster to make up for it. Kills are gotten by flicking the roller at your opponent, not rolling them down. Try it out in the test range. As for Ink Storm, that's admittedly a bit hard to use effectively; I find it best to use near ranked objectives, as it puts the other team at a disadvantage.

"Super jump" is just when you spawn on an ally after being splatted, right?
You can't spawn on an ally. At any point in the game, as long as you're alive, if you press x and then a direction on the d pad (left up and right for each of your teammates and down for spawn) you will super jump to that location.

Yep, you can do it anytime though. I've gotten used to the three button press you need to push to return to base. Say if you see the enemy is deep in your territory, or if you're about to die and need a quick escape.

Squidin' hell, 5 out of 6 ranked games tonight lost.
I know it's far from about kills and all but if we're playing splat zones and i'm consistently topping our kills with a flippin' brush I really start wondering where things went wrong.

I kept being matched against a guy standing on the edge of the area overlooking with a heavy splatling and none of the actual gun wielders did anything about it, had to go all the way around the back with a stealth brush mugging to finally remove him from his uncontested yet effective two minute long perch.

Then people keep using the superjump in situations where the point is basically fullblown enemy territory and I'm speeding out to regroup, like sweet merciful carp, in inkblot it takes about 5 secs longer to just WALK back to the point where you can plan an attack instead of diving in to enemy ink with a giant "HERE I AM, PLEASE INSTAKILL ME" marker.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should!

Has anyone seen their single-player stats pop up in the SplatNet app? Under "Agent 4 Stats" I'm still listed as a Squidbeak Recruit (0%) even though I completed the campaign within the first day of release and have run a few of the missions again since.

Meanwhile, in Ranked, my experience with both Splat Zones and Tower Control (especially the latter) has been that C- is a murderous slog where your teammates are frequently way out of position, show no interest in backing each other up, and occasionally get distracted away from the objective entirely—but that once you get up to C, and you're paired with other people in C, the players aren't great but they've at least proven that they understand the basic mechanics well enough to rank up. And just one cooperative/competent teammate makes a world of difference. After struggling through C- today in Tower Control, I went on an absolute tear, handily winning game after game by KO. There was a game where I scored my personal record high of 30 splats (and 11 assists), though maybe that's not a good thing, as the game had to go on long enough for me to even do that, thanks to people not standing on the tower.

Get out of C-, and it's clear sailing (albeit with bad, messy games) until the B bracket. (Unless you're the weakest link, of course.) Then you finally get some matches where all eight players know roughly what the objective is.

This is the Heroes of the Storm player in me talking, but if I were allowed to make one minor adjustment to the multiplayer, it would be to add a third ping for Retreat, Fall Back, or Look Behind You. I could use some way of signalling to my teammates that they should not jump to my position, or they should back off, or that the enemy is pushing behind our front line unsupervised. In B-rank, people know well enough to ping "Ouch!" to mark their position if they get splatted, but it would be useful to have a warning signal while you're still alive.

It's updated for me. Right now it's at 138% since it seems to count completing levels with different weapons as well.

Ugh, just went on the worst losing streak on Turf War. I thought I'd try out the Splatling more to get the hang of it, but matchmaking was out for blood and was doing it's best to pair incredibly people against me and total losers with me.

Multiple times I had matches with guys close to level 30 being paired against my team which didn't have anyone over level 12. I saw people get under 400 score with the Aerospray MG. I saw people using Bombs to paint the level instead of flush players out. I played 6 matches in a row on Sturgeon Shipyard and lost every single one. I had to play against a level 29 player three times in a row, and even when it was 4v3 he still carried his team to victory over us. I went from having a pretty positive W/L record to a negative one in the span of about an hour.

Basically, the unranked matchmaking in this game is completely fucked and does not take into account how long someone has been playing the game when they put them in a lobby with other players and when they decide who gets to be on what team, and given that more playtime = more weapon and gear options (much less just general skill) that seems really shitty. Those animals at Nintendo are pitting players who haven't unlocked the ability to buy clothing against people who have conceivably unlocked every weapon in the game.

Non-stop stomps tonight. Either team disconnects or laughably one sided matchmaking.

Add to that the players who completely forget how to play once the one minute countdown starts despite it being the same game and mode they've been playing for the last two minutes.

I swear I've been getting some funky hit detection going on. Had a Splattershot Jr wielding enemy running straight towards me out of range of my Splattershot Pro, both shooting directly at each other and he managed to kill me first.

I just outlined his body until he was close enough to hit me.

Just noticed the logo on the Enperry Dualies. It's different than the regular Enperry logo, so I wonder if these are designed by Pearl or are a sponsorship thing. They are her favorite gun after all.

In splatoon 1's turf wars, I'd actually sometimes super jump out if I found myself trapped rather than letting myself get killed and sit through the respawn timer. If you have beakons then you can hop around the battlefield painting as needed if necessary too :P
Yeah, I've had some clutch superjumps out of bad situations.

I've uh... drifted into being an Inkbrush user.

I didn't like it at first, but it's an incredibly versatile support weapon in Rainmaker and Tower Control. You dash forward and create a path using the brush with your allies close behind, then drop back at the first sign of danger behind, before popping back up to harass or finish off people. It's all about quick and incisive decisions, rapid movement - great fun and I think super useful.

Bloody useless in Splatzones, though.

There's some bad lag that you never really notice until you die. I've died for seemingly no reason before, only for the kill-cam to zoom in on a guy using a charger that was facing another direction. It's not as bad as it was in Splatoon 1, where'd you sometimes get big delays between your shots and the ink showing up on the walls/floor, but it's there, hidden just under the surface.

Has anyone at Nintendo given a reason why Salmon Run is only available on certain days? It's really dumb seeing it was available 1am-1pm on a weekday
charm_facepalm.gif

At least it's available most of the weekend though.

I've started using motion controls after being sticks. I still need practice, but it's definitely paid off after coming up against Splat Dualies users. They try to jump behind me but I can whip right around in no time and take them down.

Also I don't know enough people that play so here's my FC: SW-0323-2873-8127.

Idk but I hope it doesn’t last long. It’s almost worth the price of admission (with a few more stages, Features)

Started Tower Control in the last hour, managed to get a jump from C- to C+. Three losses caused a minor crack. Almost made it in only two losses.

If you talk to murch just outside the lobby building in 'the square' he lets you scrub your equipment, which will take any sub-abilities off it returning them to random locked slots that will re-open with experience. Any abilties removed by this scrub will leave 'ability chunks' in your inventory. Every 10 chunks = you spend them at murch to slot that ability into one sub slot on equipment of your choice :3

Thanks so much! I balked at the 20k to wipe and never understood how to get the ability chunks ^.^'

That dude I checked out must be loaded :p

Scrub early and scrub often. Scrubbing 3-star clothing as soon as it hits all 3 subs filled is the fastest way to get ability chunks for better gear. If you're worried about the effect on your rank, do it in Turf War for a bit.

Yeah, it's oddly satisfying to deny them what they thought was a certain kill and just constantly slip through their fingers, plus the time you save not respawning is more time you can spend inking/objective hunting :3

My current strat in rainmaker is to drop back after getting my team to the rainmaker, recover a decent chunk of ink ASAP then circle round and kill the enemy team from behind while they're preoccupied shooting the barrier. I've managed full team-kills leaving us a massive uncontested run with the rainmaker doing this :3

Tower Control just sucks.

Yeah, I must admit,, Tower Control is by far my least favourite. It's just a worse Rainmaker - there's a slow thing that must be pushed across the map by a player who is functionally useless while pushing and requires the support of their team, except unlike Rainmaker there's no sudden changes in momentum and no deviation from path, reducing the amount of strategy and turning it into tedious affairs of exchanging deaths. I've had sniper matches where I've not been able to do much other than stand on the same spot the whole match because snipers can't really defend the tower from the platform and I couldn't rely on my team-mates to advance.

Splatzones has a very different feel from the other two. I prefer Rainmaker, but still enjoy Splatzones for the change of pace. Tower Control is yawn.

Exactly the same! Inkbrush is so good for doing this as well, your mobility when pressing into opposition-inked territory is unmatched by anything else.

No, I definitely think it was too much to ask to win against two enemies on Tower as three of you and me providing you with nine Ink Armors. And being the only Tower Rider. I'm totally okay! Completely haha... ha....
how

Did the servers doe for anyone else?

Yep. Stuck waiting for a Battle for two minutes now. I NEEDED TO FIX THIS ABOVE. ;-;

It sounds like your teammates were bad, but what's wrong with being the only tower rider?

Uhh I'm just stuck at the "Searching for a battle to join" screen. Will I lose rank or anything if I hard quit the software?

The first time I read this I was like "That's new..." Now I'm stuck on the same screen. I'm so close to ranking up in Tower Control!

I hate the matchmaking song so much lol

Maybe they're patching in a mode where you can group up with friends! I love this game but my goodness this is an oversight if there ever was one.

Oh by that I mean they literally never got on Tower. In the whole game. Even to keep an Overtime going.

Also, we wiped them early, but I was the only dude on the first checkpoint, when we ALL should have pushed through that in seconds. But they all three went into enemy's base and died. Not even one stayed behind to lessen the checkpoint.
