Playing the story with a regular gun after beating it with the Brella and the Roller is so goddamn exciting. Beat the second boss in 49 seconds lol

Also, as far as ranked modes go, rainmaker is my least favourite so far. With Tower and Splatzones I feel like I can figure out new strats and adapt to carry my team. I'm constantly finding new ways on each map in those modes to push my teams into the world of always winning :3

Rain maker? I can't solve it. Most of the time a team-mate will nab it before I can and then I'm at the whim of whatever the heck they want to do, if I'm super extra lucky they'll actually have a clue and we'll win/make progress but the vast majority of times it's fail-tastic. I've had situations where I've killed the enemy team single-handedly and painted a line straight to the goal through their corpses and watched in dismay as my team ignore my "this way!" prompt to instead bumble about way back, sometimes into dead ends, or even back towards our base.
Frequently if I ever do get the rainmaker and make any attempt to advance, my team will not come with me, won't provide a path ahead or anything useful like that, preferring to get distracted by a shiny object or something and all I can do is try to race the oncoming enemy team (why do they always seem coordinated compared to my clown company? :P) who'll desperately come down on me in waves of torrential ink death.

I mean, I was surprised in one match when a team mate actually inked a path ahead for me, right to the podium. Thought we were golden but then as he reached it, instead of painting a path up he did a little circle around it. I panicked at this sudden turn of wtf-ery and tried to just jump up the column anyway to no avail. I gathered my wits and tried to fire a small shot to paint the vital final part of the puzzle when we were both cut down by a quicker witted opponent who realised what'd happened before I could claim the win. If he'd just painted the path up the column we'd have won easily, but instead we lost with 1pt remaining ¬.¬
That all gets beat by one time I killed the whole enemy team at the start, unfortunately also dying in the process but leaving my 3 team-mates the uncontested rainmaker. Did they pick it up and go? Nope. They actually all wandered off without it in different directions, just leaving it lying there, popped and ready to be taken. I was just left screaming "WHAT AM I EVEN PLAYING?" as the respawn timer counted down :P

Do you get anything by doing it? Or upgrading all weapons

you can get hero versions of any weapon except the umbrella
"fuck you if you did all the stages with the umbrella" - nintendo

the hero shot is a nice holdover though.

i guess i'll work on my single player progression right now

I'm constantly broke in this game thanks to wanting to have every good looking gear, including ordering stuff, all weapons and occosational rerolling. Halp. I had 100k at some point and now I'm back to 3 k but with head gear and body gear almost full to a page.

Online works for me but for some reason I can only order clothes form certain inklings, others i can't.
Which might be good anyway since I still get two 4 slot clothes from spiky...halp my wallet.

Quick question: What exactly is the deal with the information in the green arrow?

AjMFeWI.jpg

I notice when I win and lose the number next to the weapon increases or decreases respectively, a bar increases, the flag turns green, and "dry" eventually turns to "raw" and presumably something else later. Is it actually working up to something, or is it just a little indicator of your recent win/loss record for that weapon?

It's your freshness rating with that weapon and yeah, it's basically a win/loss indicator of sorts but with one interesting purpose: if you get to rank 'fresh' you get a nice bonus prize of xp and there's another bonus if you can get all the way up to 'super fresh' :3

Oh cool! Thanks for the info.

reached level 10 and unlocked ranked..unlocked league too
ranked up pretty fast but both rain maker and tower control are now giving me problems.

Also played salmon run for the first time yesterday. pretty fun. and certainly hectic when the salmon all come rushing in

Multiplayer maps have been updated. Oh cool the server must be back up. ... The server is currently undergoing maintenance. The fuck... Why tell me the maps and modes have updated then?

Edit: now I'm connecting but then experiencing communication errors. Ugh.

I bought the new squid boy amiibo and got a ninja helmet.

I've seen some way better armor (power & samurai) and I love the look but am not about to go buying more amiibo.

Does the regular game have other armors and aesthetic pieces that are this... intricate? Or is it all just casual clothes?

RIP

Hadn't played all day, so was going to finally play. Greeted with a maintenance message, and now constant communication errors.

Scrub early and scrub often. Scrubbing 3-star clothing as soon as it hits all 3 subs filled is the fastest way to get ability chunks for better gear. If you're worried about the effect on your rank, do it in Turf War for a bit.

Got it. I don't play ranked, so it's all good. Now I just need to play more to accumulate money for all the wipes.

Ah, I was wondering what that did.
As I stopped playing it was at 20,5. How many ranks are there exactly?

So...when ARMS undergoes server maintenance, you get a notification beforehand telling you it will begin in like 5 minutes or something. When it starts, if you hit Details, it will tell you the time it's expected to end.

I didn't see anything like that here.

I can only conclude that the servers are currently on fire.

Make sure to go back to the amiibo stand later after you've done a bunch of battles to get more pieces of gear from it!

Not sure how many 'a bunch' exactly is but it seems to be pretty fast.

Nah, you got it figured out. It's just the hardest mode to carry solo sometimes (though also sometimes the easiest - one match I got as many splats as the rest of my team combined, half of which were with the rainmaker, while solo pushing the Rainmaker to a KO. The match lasted under 1:30).

Well you have some like a motocross outfit and sports outfits, but nothing insane like the power armor.

I wonder what kind of crossovers this game will have. The first game had that Squid Girl anime outfit

would be cool if we're getting a new map. I'd imagine that we'll get one before the first splatfest and this weekend seems like a good opportunity to drop one, let everyone get familiar, and have it be a part of the splatfest rotation.

Nintendo's status page says the maintenance is both complete and ongoing. Was it doing that the whole time? Also, if anyone wants a quick way to check the servers on your phone, it seems splatnet 2 is down as well.

the power armor looks bad and should be taken out of the game

Wait all day for Rainmaker after work, goes into maintenance .

You've gotta be squiddin' me...
This is basically me. Prpbably won't be able to play Rainmaker at all today now since Salmon Run is at 1AM and I'll have to get to 1,200 points before going to bed.

RIP Rainmaker in Splatoon 2. 2017-2017.

(Seriously I'm mad.)

As far as I know the number can just keep increasing, but superfresh is the highest actual rating. Once you've hit superfresh on a weapon you won't gain any further freshness rewards on it (even dropping down and rising back up again) but you can still earn those big xp bonusses by pumping up your freshness on other weapons, seeing as each has it's own unique rating :3

Heh, problem is, it seems fairly consistent that the opposing team is good and mine is bad. I'm not inclined to think something that seems reliable like that is fluke so in my mind there must be something someone on the opposite team is doing I need to learn to make to either coordinate or make use of my bumbling buddies :p

Schrodinger's maintenance? :o
