High tide with an inexperienced charger= you're gonna have a bad time.

Also, people who use specials in the 1st round when you've already met the quota and no one is in danger: why?
Or people who say use a Splashdown either before the match begins or after a round to "celebrate"
I've seen this a few times and it drives me nuts.

Furries!!!! Why are you in my Plaza?!

REPORT AND REPEAL

Only you can prevent furry outbreaks in Squidjuku.

Oh nice! How much of a difference was it? I'm thinking of buying one myself. Just to have it around.

It wasn't a huge difference but as I said previously match-making seems a bit quicker. I wasn't experiencing lots of dropped connections like some other users and I wasn't expecting any significant gains with my slow-arse Australian internet being the source but the price was good and personally having a wired connection is always preferable when given the choice.

^lol wow

Splash-o-matic is such a fun weapon and kit....in turf war.

That poor range is quite the struggle in ranked modes. Hope they give it the range buff from the previous game =/

Well finished my runs of SR. Didnt get very good drops but at least I did it. First game in Profreshional was a wipe so I thought it was going to be a slow grind to 1200 but I started to get good teammates after a while that knew what they were doing.

Also, I was serviceable enough on Charger. Also, please you long range weapon guys, let the Slosher handle the fishes.

And the bomb stuff came in handy, I didn't throw blows that much because it just wasn't in my muscle memory but they were pretty clutch.

And the Stingray special sucks. We were on wave 3 and my other three teammates were dead near the basket. It was too crowded in there so I backed away thinking I could pop them from afar. Nope, you can't freaking aim the stupid thing. We ended up being one egg short, who was a life preserve right next to the basket.

Is the Splatfest getting it's own thread, or are we posting in here?

Do you think we'll get a new song from Pearl and Marina?

Don't think the Splatfest will get its own thread because it's technically the second one.

We already know about the music though.

There are two additional Off the Hook songs that were datamined. They both are Splatfest battle songs, and they're pretty good.

So can you not lose a single game in a rank to skip a rank when you eventually rank up?

I've been killing it in the C's, sometimes only losing a single time or twice. Generally I'm first or second on my team and still, I only go up a single rank.

It's incredibly frustrating because all I want to do is be able to play League Battles with my friend since its one of two ways to reliably play with each other.

As we're approaching two weeks with the game, I was wondering what weapons are gravitating towards especially compared to the first game (for those who played it).

Personally, it's a lot of the same for me. My main weapon is the N-Zap 85 with the Heavy Spatling and Dualie Squelchers not too far behind, all weapons I used extensively in S1 except for the Dualie Squelchers, which are technically new. I'm using the Octobrush a lot more this time round, the brushes never gelled with me last time, but in this game I'm enjoying using them a lot more.
In fairness, after launch day I was gone out of town on vacation for the whole following week, so I've only had like 6 days to play online so far.

That said, the weapon with the most of my time so far has been the Carbon Roller, which surprises me a bit. I did toy around with the Carbon Deco in S1, mostly for seeker shennanigans, so this kit is markedly different but it's fun. I would have been doing way more Octobrush over Carbon if not for my utter ineptitude with the inkjet.

Other than Carbon, other stuff I've gravitated toward has been the SplatterPro, aforementioned Octobrush, the Enperry Dualies for some reason, and the occasional and very foolish charger stint.

I've also tried and tried with the Hero Blaster but I think those days may sadly be behind me. I've mentioned previously in this topic how ineffective I find that kit now compared to S1's blaster. Not like the Just Blaster was hugely effective in that game either, but mist on the blaster in this game is useless. There are several other weapons I'd like to try out, but they aren't unlocked yet.

I don't think they really go by wins but rather performance. There's some kind of hidden stat tracking. You might notice that some times the bar moves more than normal or less.

I'm not sure, but after the first time you rank, I don't think there's really much skipping because the first rank up is you being put into your bracket.

Well I did notice how its moving a lot faster now. That last part makes sense explains it though. I wasn't too comfortable with the game when I initially did my C- rank games. Once I got comfortable, started using the Tri-splosher and carrying games, I was almost done with C- or had already gone up to C.

Well, I guess I just have to keep doing what I'm doing then. Tower control is at C+ so hopefully I can play some of that this weekend and finally break out of the C threshold.

You have to rank up without losing just to even have a shot at skipping a rank.

A lot of folks in here ranked up without losing a single match and still didn't skip

Geez. I feel like i was playing horrid today and had several matches with DC teammates. Look at my score, 32-18. Uh...okay. I guess im not doing as bad as i thought. Weird day.

Holy shit the map in this game is unbearable. Just really impractical and clunky. Especially after experiencing the sweet Splatoon 1 gamepad map

Does it get better as you go along? Its damn near unusable at this point for me. Like why couldn't it be a minimap or something? Maybe they can make an app for mobile phones that displays the map.

Praying its just a git gud thing lol

I'd say it is mostly a git gud thing, to be honest. Bringing up the map onscreen to read isn't really drawing your attention away any worse than looking down at your gamepad screen. It may seem a little tougher at first to instantly read and understand the map, but I think that's in part attributed to lack of time and familiarity. Reading the pad screen quickly was odd in Splatoon 1 for a while too any time a new battleground was released. Using gyro to direct the cursor for jump selections works just fine with a little practice.

I'll at least always like the new system for having the button combination to superjump back to spawn since I can perorm that WAY more consistently than trying to mash the corner of the touchscreem and hoping my thumb happened to hit the right spot.

I got used to it pretty quickly, and now sort of prefer it to the gamepad only because of not having to look down.

Weird thing to say, but FNAF sort of gives experience with quickly opening and closing a screen.

I'm used to the map but I wish it had something that warned you when you were locked on while the map is up. Been killed by Tenta Missiles too many times because I was checking the map lol

I've still yet to play a single round of Salmon Run. I wish they would open the mode up some more.

It's open for the next 17 hours, so you're in luck if you have access to your Switch anytime between now and later today/early tomorrow.

The map has two features that won me over:

1) You can move while looking at the map. (Okay you could do that in 1, too ... you can still move while looking at the map.)

2) You can use motion controls to target someone for a jump. Just tilt 'til the circle is on them and hit A to jump. Actually feels better than stabbing at the gamepad with a finger. :-)

So I'm really lost on what to do... I never played the first splatoon but always felt like I was missing out. I played like 20 min of the first test run of this game and I remember not looking it much.... but then again I was drunk lol. It is getting amazing reviews and I need a new game for my switch but I'm just so worried I'll pick it up and feel like I wasted 60 bucks. Is the motion controls needed? I think that was one thing I hated in the demo

Edit: Remember, attention is the lifeblood of furries as well as general internet memers. Constantly bringing it up is only ensuring that what you're complaining about will continue.

Motion controls are never needed in the game at all aside from them being in the very first tutorial. You can turn them off as soon as you arrive at the main square if you really want.

That being said, taking the time to learn motion controls is typically recommended. If you do get the game, use the single player to familiarize yourself with the controls and movement, and don't be afraid to mess around with different sentitivities to find a mix that's comfortable for you.

Don't think the Splatfest will get its own thread because it's technically the second one.

We already know about the music though.

Thanks, looking forward to the weekend! Go team Mayo!

Hmm i skipped to B in rainmaker and I lost a few so I dont know about the theory of losing matches. I did get like 10+ kills every match though.
