That moment when one guy drops out and everything goes to shit.

Yeah between that, people who just afk on the start pad all game and the terrible hit detection it's starting to piss me off a little

The only thing that Ketchup vs Ketchup matches could maybe count towards is that the winner would be the one more likely to be selected for the next Mayonnaise fight available.
That would give an advantage to the more popular team by selecting the better players from the pool though.
I think it's randomly chosen right now.

Does anyone know why the lesser chosen team tends to win slightly more? I hear that this was pretty common in Splatoon 1 - is it likely systems base, or is there a reason the less popular would attract slightly better players?

I think in the original they started doing some weird multiplying after the first (couple?) Splatfest.

Generally speaking, people would game the system and choose the team that would attract less children towards making that team choice. Thus, generally the older players tended to dominate on the less popular team.

This time around though? Statistical noise variance for the win categories means the two side were pretty damn close in overall skill.

You get out of here with this reasonable post!

More experienced players choosing their team strategically. It's harder to stay focused when you wait more in lobbies and play useless matches. Also, a bit more variability on the most popular team, and a very bad player has more impact than a very good one (a very bad one being disconnection or inactive, so the good one should play for 2), even if that account for a very small %.

I wasn't expecting it to be so far off 50-50, especially using my plaza as a sample.
I'm pretty sure that the plazza is 50/50 by design, so that's not a good

Not sure I like the new way of counting "points". Most probably, the winner will depend on teams matchs, something only a tiny part of players will be involved in.

Maybe one day a weak fast firing weapon wont kill me in 2 shots before i can even react on my end.

Game really needs netcode patching.

I think the perfect change would be for them to merge Solo and Team winrate into a single statistic, and have the third stat be for Turf Inked.

For example, Ketchup could have won 53% of the matches to Mayo's 47%, but at the same time, Mayo could have won their matches by a much higher margin than Ketchup won theirs, even if Ketchup won more often. This would be a really fun statistic to compare due to its unpredictability and chance for upsets, and would add a lot of value to each match (because not only do you want to win, you want to win /by the highest margin possible/). Stomping the enemy team with an 80% map hold for high contribution.
It'd also be fun if they just made the third slot something different every splatfest to shake things up.

On a separate note, is there any hope of them bringing back old clothing? I adored my Gas Mask in Splatoon 1, and the removal of both it and the Kraken ability has been a huge bummer for me playing Splatoon 2. I booted up 1 for some comparison/nostalgia and found myself having a lot more fun (tick rate probably helping with that as well)

This has likely been talked about to death, but I don't care because it's ridiculous. Why do I have to be in a full team of friends just to play with friends? I'm trying to put in a shift in the Splatfest with one of my mates, but it doesn't look like we can play together unless we have a full team of friends. Someone please tell me I'm doing something wrong here.

Nope unfortunately not, it does mean you never get ganked by a team with stacks though.

i'm surprised twitter doesn't have an automatic 'quote this tweet as an image' feature

Twitter just recently made it possible (on the desktop version) to instantly copy tweet URLs to the clipboard instead of having to manually Ctrl+C the URL. Just give them some time. Like, at least 5 years.

Late, but suck it you stupid tomatoes. My long suffering yesterday with lousy teams that sunk my win average wasn't in vain!

I knew this was Mayo's when people were posting their Ketchup King glamor shots showing off a 1500 power. No offense, but c'mon.

How did they get it that low? At my worst, I was in the high 1600s. For the record, my highest score was 1943.

It's Nintendo, what do you expect?

I have a feeling this is gonna be a future problem with splatfests. Everyone is gonna go with what Marina sides with, or the obvious popular choice, but all the top level pros are gonna go the opposite cuz this is their chance to matchmake with other pros. I hate to say it but Ketchup had way too many low level new people, not to mention more times getting matchmaked with other Ketchup people.

Might a over here problem, Japan's results showed mayo winning the popular vote and single matches but losing the team matchs.

That feeling when the other team's been controlling the match the whole time, you manage to kill all of them in a few seconds and your team actually uses the chance to paint like crazy and retake the map, winning by 0.3%. Awesome!

this post makes no sense. if all pros choose one side to play against other pros then they're would be 2 scenarios:

they dont play against other pros because just one team has pros. so... pointless
they play against the same team, which doesnt count in the splatfest

Yep that's why I hate turf war. Dominate for 90 percent of the game then lose because of bad luck at the end.

Can't wait until splatfest is over so I can play a mode that isn't shockingly boring. It's a fine mode for beginners to get to grips with but it's too swingy and also lends itself (despite being a beginner friendly design) to spawn camping more than every other mode.

Also going to have to pick pearl's side every future splat fest just so I can actually play more than one game a year.

Just had my worst match ever. Only 1 kill and died stupidly all the time, falling through the edge when there were no enemies around, jumping someone when I had no ink to shoot, superjumping to unsafe locations (killing the guy who was waiting for me there and then throwing myself off the edge)...I'd like to apologize to my team :(
