Run speed up does affect movement when firing, though I always preferred swim speed with close range weapons but I hardly ever use close range weapons. So don't take my word on how useful run speed will be for the dapple dualies.

That's all I needed to hear. Thanks. I'm definitely using Swim Speed as well, just because it sucks trying to get close enough to kill people with it. Run Speed is more for when you're actually fighting someone so you can maneuver around them and just be generally harder to hit.

I like having both if possible. This is my gotta go fast build. Gonna add one run speed to it.

Yeah, I've got (no pics):

Head - Ink Saver Main, Swim Speed, Run Speed, Swim Speed
Shirt - Swim Speed, Swim Speed, Run Speed, Run Speed
Shoes - Ink Resistance, Swim Speed, Ink Recovery, Run Speed

1x Swim Speed Main, 4x Swim Speed Sub, 4x Run Speed Sub. So that's, what, basically 2.3 Swim Speed Mains and a Run Speed Main? The lone Ink Recovery Sub triggers my OCD a tad, but I spent too much time and money getting those two perks on those shoes and I'm not going to risk having to spend way more time and money until I get a better supply of drinks.

Not sure how the scaling is on them though. I can trade the shirt for my one piece of perfect gear (Ninja Squid + 3x Ink Resistance), which I can imagine being great with Drapples just because Ninja Squid is great with basically everything and Ink Resistance scales well.

How fucking stupid do you have to be to play Salmon Run and not put eggs in the basket. Finding 3 goldies should be more than enough but we only got 8 before time up because 2 people weren't doing shit. I hope they get demoted to the bottom ranks and become so demoralized by their incompetence they never play again.

Nice sounds like you got a good build going.

I think a lot of people believe the eggs will stay, so they try to get as much eggs as possible on ground.

But when they come back to collect, eggs have been taken away by salmons.

It's not a common wave, so for people playing it for the first times, I can understand how they can be tricked.

Love the new Salmon Run map. It's pretty much the only mode I'm still playing so I hope they keep putting out new maps as good as this.

Drinks have to be the biggest scam in the entire game. I've played 15 matches with a Special Charge Up Drink in effect to farm chunks on my Splatfest tee and all I've seen have been Ink Resistance Up and Quick Respawn.

Judging by all of the Ink Resistance Ups, whatever % boost a drink gives you towards getting any particular ability, it doesn't outweigh a brand's boost, which makes the fact that all of the Splatfest tees are Squid Force brand even more infuriating. God forbid we be able to use them to farm any chunks we want. Nope. Gotta make them way more likely to get this one specific chunk. Could've made them non-branded, but I guess common sense is rare at Nintendo.

I figure I'm not even going to bother with Splatfest tee farming next time. It's a racket, and it's just taking away from time that I could be spending with Ninja Squid.

The drinks don't affect the splatfest tee according to a data mine. I've had better luck with other gear.

Then what's the point in making it cheaper to scrub? Nintendo is sending clear signals that players should use the Splatfest tee to farm chunks, but if drinks don't work on it then what? Just farm Ink Resistance and other stuff if your lucky?

Fucking hell sometimes this game is really stupid.

Wow, just fired the game and noticed something for the first time... the Pearl & Marina thing reporting on the stages is a "live transmission"... i noticed two cool dudes on the back ground and when i got to the plaza, they were both there... I've always thought it to be just pre-rendered animation.

<3 this game

Got a strange bug in Salmon run: I couldn't collect eggs anymore. Nothing was happening when I wax touchng them.

Am I alone?

It was the same in the first game... it's indeed a really nice touch.

Sometimes I swim through the eggs but don't actually pick any up for a few seconds. Super annoying when I get back to the basket only to realize I don't have an egg.

Can someone explain to me ( I hope I can describe it well enough because I don't have my switch with me). In the upper left hand corner of the waiting to join a game what the dry 2.5 means with the arrow pointing to the left.

EDIT: and I just looked at the app and it is 4.5

That's your win streak with a specific weapon. It goes up by 1 with every win and drops by different amounts if you lose.

Best I can tell each loss drops:
Dry: .5
Raw: 1
Fresh: 1.5

Same but I think that'd relatd to lag/netcode.

But tonight, I tried >10s and several eggs.

The more I play this, the more the issues of this game start to get to me and encourage me to not play it until they roll out another patch or two. I think I'm gonna take a longer break from it after this splatfest.

The matchmaking in turf wars drives me up the wall. Seven guys at lvl 15+ and one dude level 1-3. You practically hear the voices of 8 souls crying out in agony when the person pops on the list, as the next several games are going to be 3 vs 4, and that one guy will always be on the losing side. Peaches.

I know that RSU increases your run speed while shooting but I tried using 2 RSU mains with the 96 and I couldn't tell any noticeable difference ^^; I guess it depends on weapon because I can definitely tell the difference with a single RSU main with the heavy splating.

Got my 2nd triple.

That's a very nicely coordinated outfit.

There's too many balance change I want them to do but I don't expect them to. Watching multiple jetpacks flying around is not fun at all, and I shouldn't need four shots with 52Gal to kill someone with ink armor.

No lie, tickrate shenanigans are basically the #1 reason Ink Armor is the best special in the game. I'm sure playing on LAN it's a lot closer to fine, but when it takes multiple shots before it registers breaking, it's going above and beyond it's intended purpose.

If Nintendo would improve the netcode, I think we'd see a lot less people complaining about Ink Armor.

I'm praying that the special-weapon balance adjustment coming this month is to tackle this exact issue. At the moment it feels like ink-armour destruction is being handled at the defender's side, which is unlike how damage is being dealt that is handled at the attackers side. If the damage is determined for both at the attacker's side, then the attacker won't be disadvantaged by extra hits on ink-armour.

I'm not talking about tickrate even though that's one of the problem. Ink armor right now has a 15 frame invincibility after you break it. So the faster your weapon shoot, the more extra shot you'll need to kill someone with ink armor.

If Splatoon 1 is anything to go by, you should expect this game to behave quite differently in 6 months to a year's time due to balance patches.

There are definitely changes that I want them to make, and I have a reasonable expectation that those issues will be resolved - either in the way I would want, or by some other indirect means. Things usually got better in the first game.

Get tea bagged by someone using the same weapon as me.
Figured I'd return the favor when I got him.
He then proceeded to mop the floor with my face :/

S1 is never great balanced, at launch it's dynamo roller and 3K, then things like 96deco, then things like zombie dynamo roller. And Splatoon staff achieved worse variety in S2 in it's launch month. What should I expect?

Tri-slosher problem is pointed out at... launch? or even before launch, rock/pop spltfest? And all they did is increase special points a bit. Aug update did nothing and asked us to wait for early Sep. They managed to kill every meta from S1, and end up terrible balance in S2. You like long range weapon? choose rapid blaster, You prefer short range weapon? Ttek or tri depends on you want jetpack or armor. One and done.

I hope Sep patch is not another special points change.

Putting some Run Speed on the new Sloshing Machine is really good. The weapon feels so much quicker and more dynamic with even just one main of it. Triple Run Speed on it is really silly and fun but probably overkill. Really liking Ink Saver Main on it too. I love how it doesn't have any RNG on its jumps (unlike the blasters), feels like its main selling point now in Splatoon 2.

Debating whether it needs Ink Resistance. Its slosh path is so narrow in the middle, it feels like it could use it. But its so immobile compared to shooters, it's going to be dead in a lot of those ambush situations anyway. Maybe a main of Ink Resistance?

Also, why did Krak-On only make, like, one hat? :(

Eh that tends to happen, sometimes I'll just leave the room and join another one. It is what it is!

Yeah I really want them to buff weapons, especially all the rollers. Inkjet is unfortunately going to be the kraken of this game where throughout the entirety of its existence it'll be dominant and tough to balance. I just hope most of the quirks get ironed out before the online paywall starts.

Finding a match is taking me 3-5 minutes right now, if they don't do something about how the matchmaking works this will become unplayable late at night very soon

(I'm in SoCal btw)

You didn't happen to see this image I saw come up on Japanside Twitter recently, did you? Because your description literally reads just like it.

Do you want to fight using long range?
Yes -> Rapid Blaster
No -> Which special do you like?
Inkjet -> Ttek
Armour -> Trislosher

I should say, I am of total agreement that Inkjet and Ink Armour are way too strong right now. The best combo? An Inkjet WITH Ink Armour. That needs to go no matter what; it's too hard to aim up in this game and the vertical mobility makes the jetpack surprisingly hard to hit with most weapons.

Run Speed didn't affect Sloshing Machine firing run speed back in Splatoon 1; if what you say is true, then that's a big change they've made if it DOES affect it now. Either that, or it's placebo.

Facing a team with either two competent jetpack users or two squids with ink armor is like living hell, especially when playing rainmaker.

I'm really intrigued by the bubble blower, but I'm not so sure I'll like the Forge Pro specifically. I've always been garbo with suction bombs and the new normal Pro kit already works pretty well. This seems very reminiscent of the old Berry Pro, and that never gelled with me either.

Heavy Deco seems more my speed if I want a bubble weapon.

Im trying to think of situations where the bubble blower can really shine, but i cant. It just seems extremely situational. I will reserve final judgement though until i can finally use it myself and see.

Forge Pro is going to be great. Even if Bubble Blower sucks, just having a Suction Bomb will make a world of difference. Dang Point Sensors.

Haha, this comment made me second guess myself a little so I just tested it to confirm. Found that you can perform about 20 sloshes to walk from the back of the training room to the front normally, only 15 sloshes with triple Run Speed. I suppose it's not super pronounced if it takes 30 pts for 25%, it does feel better with just one main, though.
