Game is sold out at all the Best Buys, Targets, Walmarts, and Gamestops in my area. I end up going to my cousins house about an hour away for a family visit, find some time to go out around here and its the same situation -.-

Got in the one match I'll be able to do until Sunday. Had no real idea what I was doing but still got 1st on our team with 670-ish points and, with the win bonus, got to level 2.
Looking forward to getting plenty more time with the game on Sunday.

Game is like crack. Nintendo kind of dropped the ball with the lobby weirdness but they completely nailed things in terms of the time between matches. It's soooo easy to get sucked in when you're only waiting 30s - one minute before getting back into the action, unlike so many other MP games.

I don't track games I'm interested in till they're released. Literal media bans for me.
So I am like cosmically ass at this game (and shooters in general). This isn't even like Marvel/Mario Kart/Smash Bros/Guilty Gear where I'm bad only because everyone here playing is a god, I just can't wrap my head around basic movement and offense, never mind all the crazy going on at a moment's notice.
And yet I'm totally hooked. Huh. :lol
Also, that feel when everyone on your team gets stuck in the main hub of Arrowana Mall, 3 charger folks are set up on vantage points on the opposing team and the final member (who was already using a Roller) engages Kraken and watches us squirm. :lol :lol :lol

They're also good at puncturing through enemy walls. If I can wrench Splatoon back from my sister, I can show you how I play.

So for clothing shops do they update randomly or do you have to level up for shoes/shirts/hats? cause it's been the same for awhile for me, currently on level 11.
I obsessively ink the spawn area since everyone just rushes away.
Same, it gives me my special by the time I actually get into the fight.
The music is so good. The art style is so great. The gameplay is fantastic. I'm having such a good time. Joining friends' games is pretty easy too, though it doesn't automatically put you into the same team. That's not that big a problem though, playing against friends isn't a bad thing.
What do people think of the maps? Saltspray Rig was my preferred map in the testfire and it continues to be my favourite map. Arowana mall at first felt too narrow but those side paths can be pretty important for sneaking around.

I rush to the middle and then super jump back to the folks to branch out to the side regions they ignore.

So does anyone know what happens when there's a tie? I've had a few wins by .1% but never an actual tie.

When do you unlock new clothes? There's a new gun at every level but I'm at level 9 and no clothes! I want some two-star gear.

The music in this game is really, really good.

Higher star gear will begin to appear as you level up. Just need to wait for a new wave of clothing to appear in shops tomorrow.
I do that whenever I die for the first time in the battle. Controling the middle of the map is my priority in the 1st minute.
It actually goes like this
1st min : Get to the middle and secure the area by spraying ink and pushing back the enemy
2nd min : Work on pushing the enemy/covering everything your team missed
Last min : Focus on killing squids more (but still paint the ground for movement options) to deny the possibility of a comeback (or secure one for your team)
Dying in the last 30 secs of the match is bad. Losing 2+ teammates there is the worst thing ever
I don't think they've specified other than throughout the summer every couple of weeks.

Anyone else getting the "failed to connect to partner's device" error when trying to join a battle? I haven't been able to get one match in yet
I've never got that in splatoon but get that sometimes in smash. There, it took me out of the online, but when I go back in I was able to find a match fine. If you're getting it everytime, try turning the wiiu off and on.

How do a lot of people already have two-star gear though? Are they all in territories where the game has been out longer?

thats why im confused i see people with new clothes on maybe they had the game before everyone else? cause my clothing shops haven't updated yet.
I think store gear will differ person to person on a given day. If you see something on a person that you like, you can order the equipment from Spike on the hub. Just approach the Squid and you can order their equipment for a fee.
