Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

About to go pick this up from Bestbuy along with a Blender. So excited. I also want the Witcher 3 but I don't know if i should pick it up yet as I havent finished Witcher 2.

This game is a blast! Got myself special edition with squid amiibo. :3

I've been playing mostly turf war, tried 1st campaign mission and 1st challenge mission. Turf war is certainly the best. Tried 4 maps so far.

All in all I am very veeery pleased with the game. No problems so far, waiting to start the match is 10 second max for me... Awesome! Gonna play some more tonight!

EDIT: Question.
How can you post to Miiverse in game?

There're a lot of cameo from Witcher 2 in Witcher 3 that I've read in the Witcher 3 thread OT. Players apreciated them.
But they also said that CDRP made some effort for new comers to not feel lost.

my haul this morning. ..too bad i have work in 2 hours.

I don't think so. I played all the test fires and 3 hours last night with a rotation happening after 2 hours. The maps didn't get old. I've played the most on saltspray rig and that's my favourite map so far. With new maps being added rapidly after release and the rotation going up to 3 at a time I don't think there's going to be a problem.

That's really not a lot of time. Got to give it at least a week or two.

Got to level 6 last night. Really, incredibly fun game. I wanted to keep playing but I had to go to sleep so I could go to work this morning. :P

by that time another map will be out ;p

also I've found that the variety comes from fine tuning your play style around a lot of different factors. what clothes you're wearing, what weapon you have equipped, what weapons your teammates have equipped, what weapons your opponents will have equipped, and what map you're on will change how you should approach each match. plus these maps are really deep so it takes a bit to learn the best strategies for each. you wouldn't approach saltspray rig the same way you would urchin underpass, for instance.

basically it's just classic Nintendo. simple enough to pick up and play with a crazy amount of depth.

Game is downloaded and ready to go on WiiU. Just need to finish up with my conference call then it's time to paint some squids.

Sure but by then a few more maps will be out. And probably another mode too.

Even if you did get bored with the same maps on turf war there's also splat zones and the single player.

I'm 33. Any older gamers on this? It doesn't really matter but I'm just curious. I can't wait until I get off work to play. I actually might leave early lol.

36 and I've had a blast with the little I played last night and in last week's testfire.

Told myself I wasn't going to buy this since I'm so disinterested in games right now and never play online anymore...

Just ordered it for in-store pickup. :\

Maybe it'll grab me. I hope.

The mobility in this game is crazy good when you get the hang of it.

Just had 5-0 game, top scorer on the team. That was after a few rough games, realizing now how key movement is compared to aim. Soon level 4!

The controls may be a little weird at first but the solo mode will help you get used to them. Just enjoy yourself, that game is for fun.

So if I didn't pre order a splatoon amiibo and was planning on just walking into game stop this morning and getting one I'm fucked, right?

Don't think so? My cousin picked one up for her son yesterday because he fell in love with the game and his Inkling during the testfires. But they may run out of stock eventually, dunno. The pre-orders for this series were up for a loooong time.

Say I buy the regular version at a GAME store and start playing that, do you guys think I can simply return (to the store) the delayed second copy of the regular version I'll be getting in the post tomorrow or on Monday?

I'll just pretend that the shipped copy is the one I bought in store in other words and return it to that store. I should be covered by GAME's 28 day return policy on sealed items, right?

Is there any reason to think that that won't work, perhaps because they scan the individual copy or something? Or because the shipped copy lacks the seal?

I'll need a quick answer since my gf is currently in town and can pick one up for me. Cheers Gaf!

Just got home with my copy, just a quick question which Im sure has been answered before, but if I'm really only interested in the multiplayer, is there anything I have to play the single player for in regards to unlocks?

Why would you consider yourself "too old" for this specific game and not for others? Games are games. And Splatoon is a very fun and high quality one, so you're not thrashing your time.

I know peolple in their 50s or more than just started gaming on cell phones with rubbish games... *that* is a shame.

Please help a fellow Gaf squid out people! See my post above.

I don't know where you live but in EU we've a refund policy law that reatilers must respect : none used product can be refund for a period of 10 (14?) days.

So, imo. Ask your retailer the question.

Well today can't get much better already. Friend just called me as I started to nap and said he grabbed me a Splatoon 3-pack he managed to find. I am now instantly awake.
Time to start burning through the single player, hehe.

In my case I'd be returning a sealed copy that I got in the mail in place of the one I bought in store, pretending that the second one is that sealed first copy in other words (so I can start playing sooner).

What do you think?
