That thing. Don't know it is called in Splatoon, neither in english, sorry :/
BUT THE GUYS WHO STICK IT ON THE F***KING CEILING

Sprinkler

Oh yeah, Roller play is definitely something I have to learn after the Chargers. It felt so boring in the Testfire, but something is drawing me to it. Maybe it's just fairly relaxing.

It works pretty well for distracting and holding off enemies. It's a fairly easy position to hold, so each time the enemy team respawns they'll probably see all the enemy ink there, and try to fight you for it. If you can grab a couple of kills from that, you've wasted a bunch of their time. I think the idea though is that it depends on your team to hold the center while you make the enemy waste time in their base. If all the action is at the center, you can always zip down the hallway and support that too.

Happened to me with randoms last night. I was kind of annoyed lol.

This seems like an awful strategy for the roller. I play it differently than most but still, you aren't able to ink much territory and you'll be at a disadvantage to ranged weapons. Maybe camping with the dynamo but that sounds boring. Plus, with this strategy you can't jump down on peoples heads. And who doesn't love that?

Haha, good luck ;)

Also Hengs going to hate you if you do

I think I missed the whole camping part. I thought it was just a strategy for the initial rollout.

Sounds decent, but I still think going straight to the center and laying as preventing the enemy team from crossing is more important at first. Once you have the center then that'd be pretty useful to help keep them locked in spawn.

Sprinkler.

And the guys who put it on the ceiling? They are called ****s

Thx guys. Will try to remember that. I willdefinitely switch my NX systems to full english for good.

Anyway sprinkler. Took me 5 secs to figure out where it was and another 5 to destroy it. That's an eternity in a Splatoon game. And I'm sure some spots are too high for short range weapon so if you see one up somewhere, you have to stop and destroy it.

Once you get to the other side. Look at your map and see if your team has gained the middle. If they need help, just super jump back. Then work your way toward enemy territory again.
I tend not to look at the map unless I'm dead, looking away from the TV just gets me killed especially in dangerous enemy territory. I want an on screen mini-map so badly.

I guess what kills me is with three members of their team locked up, the other three members of my team shouldn't have much trouble splitting up and covering a lot of ground.

I get it though, especially after witnessing my 12 year old brother in law this weekend. He played a roller and spent most of every match covering up little non-inked spots in areas his team already controlled.

Ugh, i'm on some big losing streak lately. I have yet to win in like 10 matches.

And I am usually 2nd or 1st in my team and overall atleast in the top 3.

Like the game I just played now, I put everything into it. I used my Jet Squelcher to lay down paths I could Ninja-Squid with. I activated the Echolocator like 4 times. I killed like 10 people by sneaking up on them. I defended the Walleye Warehouse middle without dying for like 2 minutes!

I went even further beyond a kid OR a Squid. I had 900 points!

...then I died once...and the whole entire match fell apart in the last 30 seconds.

End Score: 44.6% VS 46.8%

If I can't even win at my best, then what hope is there?

-gets a grip and heads back in-

This was me in a match yesterday. I noticed someone DCed at the start of the match so I knew right then that there was no chance of winning so I went full force taking out everyone I could at Blackbelly Skatepark so my team could cover ground. I stayed on and around my mountain in the center, no one could take me down even though I was surrounded by all 4. I was pulling off techniques I didn't know I had in me. We lost though because my team wasn't that great but I landed 13 kills with only 1 death at the very last second of the match. But we didn't totally lose, we had a decent amount of ground so my efforts at holding off the other team wasn't a total wash.

I walked away with a lot of knowledge and a stronger back to carry my team.

Says(?) the bubbler. :p

:lol

We at least you have a second or two to react to the bubble. The feeling I get when you rollers drop on my head is what I imagine a fly experiences as it is splatted against the wall by a fly-swatter.

I've had terrible luck tonight with teammates. I've had at least one person score less than 300 in almost every game I've played.

FTFY

Works fine for me

"fine" is subjective

personally the constant delayed deaths against japanese players where, from my (and presumably their) end, it looks like i'm not getting hit at all but still die are getting on my nerves big time

like in MK8 the netcode is great at concealing delay on a visual level, like you'll very rarely see inklings rubberbanding/warping around because the client generously fills in the gaps, but you quickly learn to see behind the facade. "good net" isn't a factor here, distance is.

So who do you guys think will win for your regions respective splatfests?

I really want the possible 24 Super Sea Snails. It is too good to resist. I feel like Team Cat will win cause there are a lot of people supporting that choice, but it is percentage based, so who knows. Maybe due to being a bigger team, they will have more losses.

lmao
Sprinklers on the ceiling? On what map? Walleye Warehouse?
The middle part of Urchin Underpass. There is this black thing that you can stick sprinklers on to. You can also put it on the side, on top, or stick it below the moving crane thing on Saltspray Rig.

Completely sympathize. I stared at the box for a good minute before tearing it open. Was almost as much a test of willpower as not buying a greninja amiibo when I picked up the 3 pack on the 29th.

You passed on greninja in store? You are a stronger being
squid
than I.

I have a really hard time multitasking to look at the map. I think it's something that's probably important to get the hang of though, given the otherwise lacking means of coordination, and the importance of teamwork in this game.

Charging ahead is absolutely the best strategy in the game. Don't be OCD trying to cover every bit of ink on your own base, that's useless.

Think about it like this, every bit of ink that you cover that is the enemy's color counts DOUBLE for your team - you're subtracting their progress, and adding to yours. Covering unpainted areas near your spawn isn't helpful. Those areas will get covered anyway during the course of the match, I promise. Meanwhile if you can push in directly into the enemy base, they'll be super stressed out by that and freak out trying to kill you, instead of jumping ahead to claim area in the middle. You can waste a TON of their time if you're fooling around in their base.

Just give up once and join those people charging ahead, it's a great time. You'll be there to cover each others' backs against the enemies doing the same.

No way. I mean, it is a strategy, but it's not always the best one. Teammates becoming obsessed with the enemy's base have lost me the game more times than I can count. The middle is really the most important spot in the game.

The way I see it, each team needs two different kinds of players: offensive and defensive.
Offensive players charge ahead, painting everything in their path and try to encroach into enemy territory. Defensive players try to hold the center and/or hotly contested zones (see saltspray rig). Everyone charging ahead is a terrible idea because it leaves your base (and the middle) completely open to enemy attack.

The game is all about balancing defense and offense, and timing when and where you push and when you fall back. The entire team focusing only on offense is not a great strategy.

Man i've been spoiled by the aerograph.

I feel clunky with other weapons now

I feel the same, except replace aerospray with roller. Trying to mess with other playstyles and weapon sets but the rollers fit me so well. Maybe I'll mess with the dynamo roller a bit more.

SplatGAF definitely need more roller users, too bad the dynamo one need a high level.

It only counts double if it stays covered at the end of the match. At the very beginning your work will get replaced if you immediately rush the center. But ink at your spawn sticks around.
